Tip#2 Scripture
Deuteronomy 6:1-3 “These are the commandments and statutes and ordinances that the LORD your God has instructed me to teach you to follow…so that you and your children and grandchildren may fear the LORD your God all the days of your lives… so that your days may be prolonged…be careful to observe them, so that you may prosper…”
Deuteronomy 6:6-9 “These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as reminders on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.”
Parenting Tip: Keep Scripture Top of Mind
There is so much vying for our attention and our kids attention it’s hard to prioritize time to remember God’s scripture. Apparently this was an issue for families 3,500 years ago too based on Deuteronomy. God knew how important it was to keep His Word top of mind that he told them to tie scripture as reminders on their hands and foreheads and carve them into their doorposts and gates. What reminders can you set up around your house that make it impossible to forget the importance of remembering God’s principles and guidance from Scripture? Not surprisingly, this is one of the most important things you can do to be effective as a Christian parent.
Apologetics (a defense of the Biblical worldview
Child: “If God made everything, who made God?”
Parent: “The Bible teaches us that God has always existed, no one made him. Psalm 90:2 “Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from eternity to eternity, you are God.” Psalm 93:2 “Your throne has been established from the beginning; you are from eternity.” Psalm 103:17 “But from eternity to eternity the LORD’s faithful love is toward those who fear him, and his righteousness toward the grandchildren.”
God bless you!
