Does the Jewish Bible Point to Jesus? with David Brickner

[00:00:37] news coming out that is just seems beyond comprehension uh my guest is David Brickner he’s the executive
[00:00:44] chairman of the board of directors for Jews for Jesus he served as the executive director for 28 years this has
[00:00:51] been his life’s calling ministering to Jews and helping them come to know Jesus
[00:00:57] Christ he’s been interviewed on Larry King live in the market with Janet parall and uh he’s just had a tremendous
[00:01:03] Ministry David thanks so much for being with us today thank you Kevin shalom shalom absolutely and uh juw for
[00:01:11] jesus.org is their website uh if you’re interested in learning more about what they do before we hop into your book and
[00:01:17] also current events and everything that’s going on in the world uh David tell us a little bit about Judes for Jesus uh give us a little background and
[00:01:24] tell us um what the ministry is yeah thanks Kevin well we have a little plaque on the Cornerstone of our
[00:01:30] headquarters here in San Francisco that says Jews for Jesus established 32 ad
[00:01:35] give or take a year that’s awesome I love that a little bit of a joke there but you know fact is
[00:01:42] that Jesus himself is Jewish the disciples Peter John and James they were the first Jews for Jesus and so uh we
[00:01:50] kind of feel like we’re following in those wonderful amazing footsteps now
[00:01:55] the ministry that I serve with Jews for Jesus is not quite that old we began and we F Incorporated here in California
[00:02:03] in San Francisco in 1973 and we grew out of a movement of
[00:02:08] God’s holy spirit which has been dubbed the Jesus Revolution some folks have seen the movie even and know that back
[00:02:16] in the late 60s and early 70s God’s spirit was working in an amazing way especially among young people what most
[00:02:23] people don’t know who saw the movie is that at the same time there was a lot of
[00:02:28] Jewish young people who came to Faith In Jesus and God used a veteran missionary
[00:02:34] to the Jewish people a man by the name of Moy Rosen to kind of gather together
[00:02:39] this early group of young people and prepare them really to be a witness a
[00:02:45] testimony to the rest of the Jewish Community it began here in Northern California and spread to all over the
[00:02:52] globe and so that now we are the largest Evangelistic organization reaching Jewish people with the message of the
[00:02:58] gospel and 12 countries the largest being in Israel where we have over 70
[00:03:05] full-time workers all of them Israeli Jews who believe in Jesus who love the
[00:03:10] Lord and proclaim the gospel so we’re excited about what’s going on we’re excited about what God has raised this
[00:03:16] ministry up to do right now to partner with the church with God’s people around the globe to proclaim the good news of
[00:03:24] the Gospel as the Apostle Paul said I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the
[00:03:29] power of God to Salvation to everyone who believes to the Jew first and also
[00:03:35] to the Gentile wow that is phenomenal and um
[00:03:40] you know the amount of impact that you’ve had is incredible it always astounds me um the amount of Jews that
[00:03:48] don’t know a lot about Jesus like you think to yourself you know Jesus seems
[00:03:53] like he’s everywhere especially in America and in places like Israel and everything um but just the other day
[00:03:59] this is so funny I I bumped into a Jewish fellow and um we were at my wife and I were actually test driving a Tesla
[00:04:06] and he I started talking to him and you know I I I asked him you know are you
[00:04:12] spiritual at all and he said I don’t know I kind of stay away from spiritual things and and I brought up some of the
[00:04:17] stuff that’s happening over in Israel I asked him do you know anything about the red heers and these sorts of things and
[00:04:23] he just said oh no I know nothing about that I don’t talk to anybody about any of that and it kind of you know
[00:04:30] uh I mean I’ve know I know this is the case but it’s still I just am surprised at how little so many Jews know how
[00:04:37] little they know about Jesus um why is that the case why is it like that well
[00:04:43] Kevin it’s for the same reason that the majority of people on the around the globe don’t really know much about him I
[00:04:50] mean they’ve heard his name before but really secularism has impacted uh Mo
[00:04:56] modernity postmodernity in profound ways and we used to have a biblically
[00:05:02] literate Society primarily in North America and now it is biblically
[00:05:07] illiterate and that is certainly true of my Jewish people as well we’re supposedly the people of the book but
[00:05:15] most Jewish people have never read the Bible either the Old Testament which we would call the Jewish Bible and
[00:05:22] especially not the New Testament and so one of the challenges that I often bring
[00:05:27] to my Jewish people is you know you think of yourself as a well-educated person and yet you’ve never read the
[00:05:34] most well- read most popular book of all time you owe it to yourself just to be
[00:05:42] well read to at least pick up the New Testament and read one of the gospels
[00:05:48] and the fact of the matter is that most Jewish people who do come to Faith In Jesus come because they’ve encountered
[00:05:55] him in the pages of scripture and believe it or not the gospels the New
[00:06:01] Testament most of us were told oh that’s not a book for Jews it’s a book for
[00:06:06] Christians and so we say well open up the first page of the New Testament and
[00:06:11] what does it say and they’ll read it says the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah
[00:06:17] the Son of Abraham the son of David I mean how much more Jewish can you get than Abraham and David and so we want
[00:06:25] our people Jewish people to read the gospel Els we want them to read the
[00:06:31] whole Bible uh but start with the gospel of Matthew and see if it doesn’t
[00:06:36] resonate with you as a Jewish person this is Jewish stuff about a Jewish
[00:06:42] Messiah who walked and talked Hebrew and Aramaic in the land of Israel so it’s
[00:06:48] all about our people first and foremost yeah that’s so wonderful uh um
[00:06:54] and I I’ve heard that story also that a lot of people they open the Bible for the first time a lot of Jews open the
[00:06:59] Bible for the first time they read about Jesus and they’re astounded how Jewish it all is they are so surprised that wow
[00:07:08] this is I mean everything in here is Jewish right and so um is it a difficult
[00:07:13] Ministry to Jews it is is there a Hardness of Heart that’s difficult to overcome or is that just a case by casee
[00:07:21] kind of a situation well a certainly is biblical you know Paul said a a
[00:07:26] blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has
[00:07:32] come in and thus all Israel will be saved but right now there is this blindness and part that Paul speaks
[00:07:38] about there is a Hardness of Heart but that’s true about all of humanity isn’t it it’s only by the power of the holy
[00:07:45] spirit that someone’s eyes are open their ears are unstopped their heart is softened to the truth of the Gospel so
[00:07:51] we’re seeing Miracles each and every day as God opens the eyes of the unbelieving
[00:07:58] and that’s what we pray for and that’s what we work toward and we don’t get discouraged when we face opposition
[00:08:04] which we do um because we know that God is at work and there are people who are
[00:08:09] interested and eager to hear and and that’s one of the messages that I want our Brothers and Sisters in Christ to
[00:08:16] understand you may get a an initial reaction from a Jewish friend or neighbor or like the man that you were
[00:08:23] talking about recently I’m not very religious but don’t be put off by that
[00:08:28] allow God to give you uh a witness to Bear witness to the fact that this is a
[00:08:34] reality in your life and as you share your love for Jesus God will use that by
[00:08:40] the power of the Holy Spirit to soften their hearts and to open their eyes to see the truth of the Gospel yeah uh you
[00:08:47] know um for those of you listening my guest is David Brickner and um he has
[00:08:52] been involved in ministering to Jews he’s Jewish himself for a very long time now David you just recently came out
[00:08:58] with this book does the does the Jewish Bible point to Jesus for those of you who um uh like to read uh this is a nice
[00:09:07] short read one of the things I like that you have in here which is what you were just talking about is that in the back
[00:09:12] you actually have a bunch of testimonies of people who have come to know Christ and how that process took place uh Jews
[00:09:19] who ended up reading the Bible one way or another or whatever it is that happened and uh that’s really
[00:09:25] encouraging to hear those kinds of stories um you know I was talking to your colleague uh David uh uh Dan sered
[00:09:32] um over in he was ministering in Israel um and one of the things that he said to
[00:09:38] me uh kind of struck me he said that when he was growing up the primary identity for a a Jewish person as far as
[00:09:47] his experience was concerned was to be Jewish meant I don’t believe in Jesus
[00:09:52] which was a such a uh you know it’s the negative thing that you don’t believe in
[00:09:57] that I identifies what you are um where does that come from why why is that so
[00:10:03] it and is it softening is there a softening of people’s hearts in the sense that I’m more open to discussing
[00:10:09] Jesus versus just closing that door and saying no I I want nothing to do with it I’m not interested in having that
[00:10:15] conversation it sounds like you’re saying that you’re seeing that people’s hearts soften we really are and uh for
[00:10:23] example since October uh 7th 2023 when
[00:10:28] that horrible uh uh attack occurred in Israel where over 1,200 Israelis were slaughtered by
[00:10:37] terrorists uh we have seen a tripling of requests for the New Testament in Hebrew
[00:10:45] among Israelis so there is even as a result of this horrible event God has
[00:10:52] used it to wake up my people in Israel and we’re never seen more openness to
[00:10:59] the gospel but the fact of the matter is that there is a lot of resistance that’s
[00:11:05] built into what it means to be raised as a Jewish person and and as Dan was
[00:11:10] telling you oftentimes our identity is enforced in the negative we’re not like
[00:11:18] them we’re not Christians we don’t believe in Jesus we believe in Moses we you know we don’t celebrate Christmas we
[00:11:24] celebrate Hanukkah we don’t celebrate Easter we celebrate Passover and so it’s almost like if there’s one you know like
[00:11:32] the Star Trek uh prime directive it is to be Jewish and we’re we’re told that
[00:11:39] if you believe in Jesus you can’t be Jewish anymore and of course this is a Lie from the pit of Hell it’s the one of
[00:11:46] the main ways that the enemy has kept my people from considering the gospel
[00:11:52] message but one other fact that I think is really important for Christians to understand is the sad history of the the
[00:11:59] past 2,000 years because unfortunately much of the persecution of
[00:12:04] Jewish people especially in Europe has been carried out by people who call
[00:12:10] themselves Christians and of course these are not people who are born again because when you have the spirit of God
[00:12:16] living in your heart you’re going to love what God loves and God loves his people
[00:12:22] Israel but these people who have called themselves Christians they have persecuted Jewish
[00:12:29] people often times in the name of Jesus and so this is well known in the Jewish
[00:12:35] community and so for many it would be an act of traitoris to go over to the other
[00:12:43] side and that’s why there’s so much emotion and oftentimes as Dan could have shared with you from his own personal
[00:12:49] experience when he became a follower of Jesus he was kicked out of his home he
[00:12:55] was slapped around by his father and uh they I performed their wedding Dan and
[00:13:01] dena’s wedding and the parents refused to attend the wedding and so now that
[00:13:07] changes by God’s grace and so Dan and Dena have three lovely children now and the grandparents can’t resist so it’s
[00:13:16] changed a lot since those early days but it’s a very emotional thing when a
[00:13:23] Jewish person comes to believe in Jesus they have to really count the cost and
[00:13:28] uh but but as I said God is at work and we are seeing this as a promise that he
[00:13:34] fulfilled is fulfilling in our day he’s opening the eyes of Jewish people he’s regathered the people of Israel back to
[00:13:42] the land that you know God had promised to Abraham Isaac and Jacob and and now we’re seeing that promise being
[00:13:49] contested by the enemies of God and uh we see this rise of anti-Semitism around
[00:13:57] the world and it’s just that ancient hatred that was spawned by the enemy of
[00:14:04] God hassatan is the Hebrew word for the adversary we call him Satan and since
[00:14:11] God promised to bless Abraham and his descendants in Genesis 12 all the way to
[00:14:17] the present Satan has been trying to make God out to be a liar that he
[00:14:23] doesn’t love his people that he can’t protect his people that he’s not going to fulfill his promises to Israel and of
[00:14:29] course God has Stak his reputation on all of those promises and he’s going to fulfill each and every one of
[00:14:36] them uh you know it’s funny that you mention that because this is kind of a little bit off track question I mean it
[00:14:43] relates to what you just said but I was very curious about this because one of my students actually brought it up to me
[00:14:48] and he said um what how do Jews in the Old Testament view Satan because um you
[00:14:55] know there’s particular scriptures where there’s this one where um God says I’m going to send this Angel as a deceiving
[00:15:02] Spirit to deceive the prophets and um there’s the angel of death and there’s a
[00:15:07] variety of characters that don’t seem very uh you know uh Angelic almost more
[00:15:14] demonic and I’m just uh Curious for my own sake what what is going on there as
[00:15:19] far as Jews and their view of the devil in the Old Testament well of course you
[00:15:25] have the concept of Satan introduced in the Old Testament and uh we have we see Lucifer you know
[00:15:33] the fallen angel and those that uh you know uh are following after him instead
[00:15:40] of following after God and so Israel is introduced to the adversary in our
[00:15:48] Hebrew scriptures and um but as is common among a lot of our modern day we
[00:15:55] we we we don’t want to talk about the supernatural we don’t want to you know invest a lot of time and thought in it
[00:16:02] and so in modern day Judaism there’s very little emphasis on the supernatural
[00:16:08] there’s very little emphasis on Satan and on the reality of uh the spirit
[00:16:14] world and of demons but it’s all in the literature it’s all in the scriptures
[00:16:19] and uh so we just don’t pay much attention to it in Judaism
[00:16:25] today now um you wrote this book does the Jewish Bible point to Jesus 12 key
[00:16:30] prophecies that unfold God’s plan um and I’ve studied some of the prophecies that
[00:16:36] have come true and are and you know the The Rebirth of Israel is the gigantic
[00:16:41] one and then we have a variety of other things that are taking place um and
[00:16:46] you’ve written quite a few different books what why did you choose to write this book um at this point in time what
[00:16:53] was going on in your mind that you decided God was leading you to write this Kevin I’m so excited about this
[00:16:59] book perhaps more than any of the others that I’ve written because it grows out
[00:17:05] of a lifetime of sharing Jesus with my Jewish people and you know one of the
[00:17:11] things that I love to do and uh we actually if you go to our YouTube channel can see this happening on the
[00:17:17] streets of Israel we’ll go up to a Jewish person or I’ll sit down with someone o over a cup of coffee and say
[00:17:23] let me read this to you and I’ll read from the prophet Isaiah Isaiah chapter
[00:17:28] 53 and I won’t tell the person where I’m reading from I’ll say tell me who do you
[00:17:34] think this is talking about or I’ll say does this come from the Old Testament
[00:17:39] for or from the New Testament and invariably they’ll say oh it’s from the New Testament and I’ll say well why do
[00:17:46] you say that and they’ll say Isaiah 53 sounds like you’re talk it’s it’s talking about Jesus but they don’t know
[00:17:52] it’s written by Isaiah they think it’s from the New Testament so I say well no actually it was written by a nice Jewish
[00:17:59] boy named Isaiah who was writing 700 years before Jesus ever came and it
[00:18:05] blows their mind and I invite them to get into a Bible study with me about all
[00:18:11] of the prophecies but these 12 that I’ve selected for this book I have so many
[00:18:17] stories about how I’ve had the opportunity to share these amazing
[00:18:23] prophecies with Jewish people and how they’ve responded but each of them
[00:18:29] together portray a wonderful picture of who the suffering servant was to be who
[00:18:36] Jesus claimed to be and he was the first one to answer this question does the
[00:18:41] Jewish Bible point to Jesus he said yes it does in Luke 24: 44 and following
[00:18:49] Jesus has just gone through the passion of his death burial and resurrection and
[00:18:56] his disciples aren’t quite aware of it and so they’re hiding away from the Jewish authorities behind a locked door
[00:19:03] and all of a sudden Jesus shows up and they think he’s a ghost and so he says
[00:19:09] give me something to eat so they give him a piece of fish and in my imagination you know he eats the fish
[00:19:15] and there’s maybe some bones left on the plate he proves to them that he’s there but that wasn’t enough because he says
[00:19:23] to them this is what I told you about that everything written about me in
[00:19:29] Moses and the prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled and then he opened
[00:19:36] their minds to understand the scriptures and that’s what I’m hoping God will accomplish through this book to open the
[00:19:43] minds of my Jewish people and Jesus uses the three parts that make up the Jewish
[00:19:49] Bible when he talks about Moses that’s Torah the first five books of the of the
[00:19:55] Bible of the Old Testament and then he talks about the prophets and in Hebrew that’s neim the prophets and then he
[00:20:03] talks about the Psalms which are kind of a a part of What’s called the ketua the
[00:20:09] writings and those three sections form the Jewish Bible and there’s an acrostic
[00:20:14] that Jews Ed to refer to the Jewish Bible from Torah neim and Kim that is
[00:20:21] tanak Tanakh is the Jewish Bible Christians call it the Old Testament
[00:20:26] Jewish people don’t usually call it the old test because they don’t believe it’s old they don’t believe that the New
[00:20:32] Testament is the Bible and so that Tanakh that Jewish Bible this does the Jewish Bible point to Jesus Jesus said
[00:20:39] it it did and and Jewish people need to have their minds open to understand those
[00:20:46] scriptures wow um so over time as you’ve
[00:20:51] been sharing the gospel with uh the Jews and everything um I have several
[00:20:56] questions here but one of the question questions is is is there a particular prophecy that is the most um maybe
[00:21:05] stunning or astonishing to to Jews that in particular is one that you know when
[00:21:12] this pops up I know Isaiah 53 but when this pops up you know that most people
[00:21:19] are going to go whoa that’s pretty wild um is there any one in particular
[00:21:25] there’s many I mean all the the the ones that I pick there’s 12 that I put in
[00:21:30] this book that are the most astounding but um you know Isaiah 53 you mentioned
[00:21:35] that’s amazing we use that all the time uh one of the ones I love is Psalm
[00:21:41] 22 because that speaks very specifically about the crucifixion and the
[00:21:47] resurrection of the Messiah King David wrote it and you can I mean I’ve had so
[00:21:54] many chances to sit down and read this through with there’s one guy an Israeli
[00:21:59] named Assaf and you know we we we spent time and he was just saying wow wow wow
[00:22:08] and there’s one um technical difficulty in the verse they
[00:22:14] pierced my hands and my feet and um that I mean that’s an amazing reference to
[00:22:20] the crucifixion it’s not the only one but in the Jewish publication Society they translate it differently they they
[00:22:27] say like a lion are my hands and feet and the reason for that is the difference of one Hebrew
[00:22:33] letter and the fact of the matter is that most uh of the Hebrew
[00:22:41] Publications uh that have the they pierced and in the the septu aent which
[00:22:48] is the Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures translated 400 years before
[00:22:53] the New Testament they used the Greek word he pierced they pierced and so we
[00:23:00] know that the common translation of that is they pierced and when I was talking to aaf he was going wow wow wow and we
[00:23:08] got to that Hebrew word in that letter he said David it doesn’t matter it
[00:23:14] doesn’t matter this is Yeshua this is Jesus and I had the privilege of baptizing Assaf in the Mediterranean Sea
[00:23:23] about 10 years ago and I’ll never forget the scriptures are so amazing that they
[00:23:30] someone when God’s holy spirit opens their minds you know some people say you know the Messiah and the Old Testament
[00:23:37] is concealed and the New Testament is revealed I don’t believe that for a minute the Messiah in the Old Testament
[00:23:44] is revealed if we just take our time to read it and to understand it and that’s what Jesus did with his disciples that
[00:23:52] evening in that room he opened their minds to understand the scriptures and we need that today yeah and that’s
[00:23:59] really a testimony to all of us is that um you know uh I believe it’s Paul who says watch your life and Doctrine
[00:24:05] closely persevere in them because if you do you will save both yourself and your hearers and uh I just think
[00:24:13] understanding the scriptures and then being able to explain them to people is so powerful um in its ability to convict
[00:24:19] a person’s heart and just you know illuminate their minds as the holy spirit’s working on them but um you know
[00:24:26] uh for those of you listening my guest is David Brickner and he has been with uh Jews for Jesus uh ministering for um
[00:24:33] decades now and um he’s just written this book does the Jewish Bible point to Jesus and you can buy this book um you
[00:24:42] know off their website or anywhere they sell books but but um would you recommend that this is something that if
[00:24:49] somebody has a Jewish friend that this would be a good book for them to buy um and then give to a Jewish friend is that
[00:24:55] what it’s for absolutely what you Christians will will will be overhearing
[00:25:01] a conversation that I’m having with Jewish people and because of that you’re going to get the Jewish backgrounds to
[00:25:08] your Christian faith you’re going to understand these prophecies from a Jewish perspective and so my advice is
[00:25:15] read it yourself it won’t take you that long like you said i’ I’ve made it to be very accessible it’s got that Jewish
[00:25:21] background it’s got some of the Hebrew uh explained for a lay person to
[00:25:27] understand then you can take it and say hey I was reading this book does the Jewish Bible point to Jesus and I’m just
[00:25:34] curious you know you don’t have to read the whole thing but read a couple chapters and tell me what you think about it you know everybody likes to
[00:25:41] have their opinion solicited so you know you you don’t give them the book say hey
[00:25:47] this is my book I read it now I’d love you to read maybe one or two chapters
[00:25:53] and then tell me what you think if you want to read the whole thing that’s fine but you don’t have to just you know start a
[00:25:58] conversation and uh if they’re your friend they might be willing to take about you know half an hour or so and
[00:26:05] read a chapter or two and uh and tell you what they think and uh let the
[00:26:10] evidence speak for itself and then you you just have to be prepared to field
[00:26:15] some questions and if for you’re worried about that you know someone says well
[00:26:20] and they ask you a question you don’t know the answer to say you know that’s a really great great question and I think
[00:26:26] I might know how to answer it but give me give me some CH a chance to go and and study a little bit more and I’ll get
[00:26:32] back to you and then you know what you’ve done you started yourself in a Bible study with your Jewish friend
[00:26:38] don’t feel like you have to have all the questions answered in your own mind before you start talking about this
[00:26:44] stuff and let God’s spirit open their minds to understand the scriptures I
[00:26:49] love it I love it uh have you ever had you know in you’ve been ministering for so long have you seen any um uh kind of
[00:26:56] high-profile Jews come to know Christ uh I I imagine that for a lot of people
[00:27:02] that are in the public uh sector or in the public you know uh eye that it’s uh
[00:27:08] even more challenging because you know there’s a lot of pressure on them and the the stakes are higher uh for them to
[00:27:16] to you know make such a a gigantic uh decision in the years that you’ve been ministering have you seen any
[00:27:22] high-profile Jews uh come out publicly and say I’ve decided Yeshua is the Messiah oh I have yes and may there be
[00:27:30] many more but rabbis uh you know there’s a rabbi who
[00:27:36] uh was uh in uh I first heard about him uh because he stood up in a um a Bible
[00:27:44] study a a a Christian Fellowship Bible study in Kansas City and he said hey
[00:27:50] I’ve become a believer in Jesus and I’m a rabbi he was from Melbourne Australia and he was a reformed Rabbi and uh you
[00:27:57] know what as a result of that nobody wanted him to be a rabbi anymore his wife divorced him
[00:28:04] um right now I’m working with a guy who comes from one of the most uh religious
[00:28:11] uh Ultra Orthodox families his father was one of the chief rabbis of an ultra
[00:28:18] Orthodox sect in Jerusalem he was raised in that family and he’s become a
[00:28:24] believer in Jesus and he’s brand new in the faith his wife divorced him as a
[00:28:29] result of this he can’t see his children um you know he’s from Jerusalem but he’s
[00:28:34] living here in the United States now and what happens with a lot of these Ultra Orthodox guys is that all they do is
[00:28:42] study uh in the aiva and they don’t have the life
[00:28:47] skills uh to live you know a normal life you know they don’t know they haven’t
[00:28:53] graduated from even from high school they’ve graduated from their yeshivas from their seminaries and so they know
[00:28:59] all about the Hebrew and all the Aramaic and they know the talmud and they know all these things but so we need to
[00:29:06] really be prepared as a body of Believers to to care for these people because they come out of these
[00:29:12] communities they don’t have the life skills they’re cut off from their families what what do we do where do we
[00:29:18] send them how do we help them so I believe that God is preparing the body of Christ to welcome these people in and
[00:29:26] to help them and uh right now I’m trying to find a job for for this guy in in in
[00:29:32] Dallas Texas uh where he’s currently living he has a driver’s license and so
[00:29:38] maybe maybe he can drive for Uber or something like that yeah that’s what I was thinking we’re trying it we’re you
[00:29:44] know there are people who have these Amazing Stories you know who are raised
[00:29:50] uh and have counted the cost even like Dan sered had to and uh you know I just
[00:29:56] think it’s going to be more and more as we draw near to the return of Christ but there have been prominent people like
[00:30:03] the Apostle Paul you know a m of this Sanhedrin one of the ruling Elders in
[00:30:08] the Jewish Community trained at the feet of Galia The Scholar one of the greatest
[00:30:14] rabbis of the first century and he became a believer in Jesus and look what
[00:30:19] he had to go through you know I mean it’s there’s there’s a cost involved but
[00:30:25] uh when you get to see Jesus in the scriptures when God opens your mind what
[00:30:30] can you do you have to respond to the truth and so i’ had a lot of people who
[00:30:36] have made that decision and um May May their tribe
[00:30:41] increase amen so um let’s talk a little bit about present day what’s happening
[00:30:47] in the news and these sorts of things um because for a lot of people uh there’s a lot of questions there’s a lot of
[00:30:53] missing pieces there’s a lot of you know wait I do not know what is going on and um maybe you could help clarify some
[00:31:01] of what’s been happening um and maybe some of the parts that aren’t
[00:31:07] necessarily picked up in the news that you have more clarity on that people are misunderstanding or just not
[00:31:14] grasping um is there anything off the top of your head that you think you know this is an area where people are really
[00:31:21] missing it and it would help to clarify some of what’s been happening I I think what a lot of of
[00:31:28] Christians are unsure about is what’s going on in the Middle East and in Gaza yeah and there’s a lot of misinformation
[00:31:35] I mean the the the secular media basically they get their information
[00:31:40] from the from Hamas and all of the numbers about people dying uh Israel has
[00:31:48] done more than any other nation in history to avoid uh civilian casualties
[00:31:56] and the numbers the the stories that the US and other secular press reports come
[00:32:05] directly from the mouths from the the the from the terrorists themselves and
[00:32:11] they’re perpetrating lies that uh people are believing but this is an ancient lie
[00:32:18] I want to read just from Psalm 83 uh this is a Psalm of Assaf but it
[00:32:24] goes back thousands of years and this is the prayer of one of the psalmist oh God
[00:32:29] do not remain silent do not turn in deaf ear do not stand aloof oh God see how
[00:32:36] your enemies growl how your foes rear their heads with cunning they conspire
[00:32:42] against your people they plot against those you Cherish come they say let us
[00:32:48] destroy them as a nation so that Israel’s name is remembered no more with
[00:32:54] one mind they plot together they form an alliance against you so those first five
[00:33:02] verses of Psalm 83 sound like they could be written today and that’s the problem
[00:33:09] is we need to be able to see the spiritual dynamics of what’s Happening
[00:33:15] we’re getting close to the return of Christ and the more Satan sees his time
[00:33:21] shortened the more he’s actively pursuing the destruction of the people
[00:33:27] that God placed his name on and so I’m my appeal to the church to Christians is
[00:33:34] to understand the times in which we’re living to take the biblical world viw
[00:33:41] and not the secular press worldview of what’s going on in the Middle East and
[00:33:46] realize that we have a spiritual conflict that’s of all the ages this
[00:33:52] Dynamic goes all the way back to Genesis 12 but we’re seeing it writt large
[00:33:58] in the press and so God’s people need to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem Psalm
[00:34:04] 1226 says they shall prosper that love thee pray for the Peace of Jerusalem so
[00:34:09] how should we be praying for peace we should pray that the Prince of Peace
[00:34:15] Will Rule and reign in the hearts of Arabs and Jews who live in that part of the world because when Arabs and Jews
[00:34:22] can say to one another I love you in Jesus name the world will see the
[00:34:27] reconciling power of the Gospel he is the only hope for peace in the Middle East and we need to align ourselves with
[00:34:36] God in this one and not with the enemies of God which I think unfortunately much
[00:34:42] of the world is doing right now yes it is it’s really horrible um are you know
[00:34:48] I I’ve the Jewish um uh block has voted
[00:34:55] historically Democratic and Trump has been incredibly um pro-israel and um the
[00:35:03] gentleman um who just he assigned what’s that Mike hakabe yes Mike hakabe he just
[00:35:10] assigned him as the ambassador to Israel and uh you know and he’s incredibly
[00:35:15] pro-israel um and I’m just curious you know in you’re talking with people are
[00:35:21] they um are they switching their Viewpoint regarding Democrat versus Republican I’ve always been confused as
[00:35:27] to why why they vote Democrat when I don’t feel like the Democratic party is
[00:35:33] been very friendly to Jews yes and that remains one of the great
[00:35:39] Mysteries that plague the mind of many Believers in Jesus why and it’s a
[00:35:44] historic reason uh it goes all the way back to when uh anti-Semitism was part
[00:35:51] of the warp and woof of American culture when there were signs outside of you
[00:35:56] know golf clubs and country clubs no Jews allowed and so Jewish people
[00:36:04] identified uh back in the 40s and 50s and 60s with the you know civil rights
[00:36:11] movement and so for many uh that’s an old uh experience an old commitment you
[00:36:19] know most Jewish people were raised feeling like they they didn’t belong
[00:36:25] they weren’t welcome in C certain levels of society and I know Christians might
[00:36:30] find it hard to believe but it wasn’t that long ago and so there has been a
[00:36:36] shift over time uh of Jewish people moving away from that commitment uh to
[00:36:44] kind of a liberalism and especially among the religious Jews uh most of them
[00:36:50] in America today would vote conservatively but unfortunately you
[00:36:57] know Jewish people are just like everybody else just because they were born Jews doesn’t mean that they have
[00:37:03] the Holy Spirit and most of them do not and so they’re just as deceived as other
[00:37:10] people into you know some of the cultural hot button issues that we’ve
[00:37:15] been concerned about that have been growing in our country and I’m I’m I’m
[00:37:20] I’m grateful that we’ve dodged a bullet and as a country we’re being given a
[00:37:25] second chance I think maybe a last chance to to you know walk away from the
[00:37:32] evils of the sexual Revolution and some of the other things that we’ve seen so
[00:37:38] prevalent in our society I think for the first time in our country we have
[00:37:43] Evangelical Christians and leadership in the House and Senate which is amazing so
[00:37:49] I’m hopeful and with Mike hakabe he not only loves Israel he believes Jewish
[00:37:55] people need Jesus just like everybody he understands me and the meic Jewish
[00:38:00] movement which is great so I don’t know what God is going to do in these next four years but I’m really hopeful that
[00:38:08] we’re going to see we need a Revival in America too don’t we we do we do it is
[00:38:13] really exciting it’s it’s uh I’m on pins and needles here every day but um so so
[00:38:21] uh you know regarding the prophecies um you’ve said many times and I know many
[00:38:27] people believe this and I believe it myself which is that you know it’s very possible Christ could return any time
[00:38:35] and in regards to that you know a lot of the uh controversy that people have been
[00:38:40] experiencing is over what’s going to happen with the temple and the red heers and for a while uh you know our I
[00:38:47] actually preached a message uh in the chapel at our our Christian High School
[00:38:53] that dealt with the prophecies that were coming true and this was U before for
[00:38:58] the attack on Israel that happened and then then when that happened because the
[00:39:05] the the news was saying the red heer was going to be sacrificed because there was a certain amount of time that they they
[00:39:10] had to be a certain aged and that was very significant because it’s what you needed to do in order to cleanse the
[00:39:16] priests um to prepare them for service in the temple and now all of a sudden
[00:39:22] that all got delayed because uh of of
[00:39:27] all the conflict and tension um in the Middle East uh what is the latest with
[00:39:33] this uh from your perspective what do you see happening in the next year four years as it pertains to these sorts of
[00:39:40] prophecies about the temple and the the red heers and these things from from my
[00:39:46] perspective Kevin there is nothing preventing the Rapture of the Believers
[00:39:53] it could happen while we’re having this conversation um I wrote a book back uh at the
[00:40:00] beginning of the 21st century called uh Future Hope a Jewish Christian look at
[00:40:06] the end of the world and I pointed out when it comes to the
[00:40:12] temple that there have been religious Jews that have been planning for the
[00:40:18] rein institution of the sacrificial system for years you can look in the
[00:40:24] Hebrew newspapers and there are advertisements um on a weekly basis if
[00:40:30] you’re from the tribe of Levi and you have a young son who wants to be trained
[00:40:36] you can have him come and we’ll train him so that when the temple is rebuilt when the sacrifices are reestablished
[00:40:43] we’ll have our priesthood ready to go they’re raising money often times from
[00:40:49] Evangelical Christians here in America to reconstitute some of the you know the
[00:40:54] golden incense and the all of the things that you need to build the temple around
[00:41:01] that are necessary for the sacrificial system to be reestablished and I’ve
[00:41:06] actually had Christians come and say David should we give money to these groups one of the things I want to point
[00:41:12] out is that Temple is going to be the place where the Antichrist is to declare
[00:41:18] himself to the me the Messiah so my advice to Christians is they don’t need your help to build
[00:41:26] the Third Temple the the the Antichrist Temple it’s going to happen you can’t hasten the return of Jesus by giving
[00:41:34] money to these groups but the fact of the matter is we have the red heers we
[00:41:40] can produce the ashes they’re actually having sacrifices that are regularly at
[00:41:47] Passover now outside the Temple Mount because they can’t go on to the Temple
[00:41:53] Mount it’s controlled by the Muti of Jerusalem and the and the Muslims there
[00:41:58] and and there’s part of an agreement that you know you can’t do that but they do it right near the entrance to the
[00:42:07] steps uh going up to the Eastern Gate and so there’s a lot of signs in the
[00:42:15] newspaper among the religious Jews there’s an effort to you know rebuild
[00:42:21] these utensils that are needed and uh who knows how it’s going to happen
[00:42:28] uh in point of fact but it’s all there the pieces are all there that’s why
[00:42:33] there’s nothing preventing the Rapture of the Church of the church and the
[00:42:38] beginning of the Great Tribulation I think it’s it could happen any day yeah
[00:42:43] amen I I agree um my my father is praying that it happens before he passes away he’s 93 and he’s like yes I’m
[00:42:51] praying that that uh your mom and I get to go in the Rapture together I’m like
[00:42:57] okay Dad well that’s got to happen pretty soon um so anyway um for those of
[00:43:03] you listening my guest has been David Brickner and uh he just wrote this book does the Jewish Bible point to Jesus and
[00:43:09] it’s a really cool book that’s very easy to read and it’s a tool you can use to
[00:43:16] minister um to your Jewish neighbors or friends or whoever you bump into so I highly recommend you pick up a copy and
[00:43:24] um it’ll teach you a lot too about what to be prepared prepared for it’ll also give you uh key uh prophecies that are
[00:43:31] going to help you let other people know how close this really is uh Jews for jesus.org is their website um if you
[00:43:38] want to be involved in their Ministry and what they’re doing so uh huge blessing uh David everything you’re

[00:44:20] Fallen apart but the truth of the matter is is that this is all in God’s hands and there’s nothing out of his uh
[00:44:26] Sovereign will so um just uh put your trust in him and uh just know that
[00:44:32] Christ we’re going to see Christ not too far down the road uh God bless you and uh David thank you so much again for
