God Bless America!

As you celebrate the Fourth of July this week take time to reflect on the sacrifices of America’s founding fathers and the nation’s spiritual foundation. The birth of our blessed nation is a reminder to people of our generation to continue to stand for freedom, trust in God’s Word and preserve these foundational principles. Being mindful that our founding fathers so willingly sacrificed their fortunes, homes, families, comforts, personal freedoms and lives for this great nation.

The founders of America desired religious freedom among other rights. They set out to establish a nation where its people would have freedom to worship or not worship without government interference or persecution.

On July 2, 1776, after much discussion and prayer, Congress voted to approve and separate from Great Britain. Two days later on July 4, an early draft of the Declaration of Independence was signed, by John Hancock, president of Congress, and Charles Thompson, secretary of Congress. Then four days later, Congress took that document and read it aloud from the steps of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, and then Liberty Bell was rung.

Preserving American liberty depends first upon its citizens understanding the foundations on which this greatly blessed country was built and then maintaining those principles. Americans must not forget the purpose for which the nation was established and continue to pray God’s blessing over this great country.
