Happy Memorial Day!

What comes to mind when you hear about Memorial Day? Most of us may think of patriotism, honoring our armed forces, BBQ’s, parades, the start of summer or time to gather family and friends. Memorial Day is a time of remembrance.

This is a weekend to be reminded of the brave men and women who fought and died for our freedom. It should also remind us of someone else who died for our freedom, the Lord Jesus. God stepped into history as man, lived a sinless life, then took the penalty of sin and death upon himself for all mankind, so that we could be forgiven and freed from the power of sin, receive the free gift of salvation, and be welcomed into heaven with our Savior (John 3:16). What a marvelous event to remember!

Be reminded of God’s faithfulness. Use this weekend as an opportunity to marvel at the amazing love and mercy of our Heavenly Father and his Son. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends John 15:13
