Living Through Abortion and With a Transgender Father — Kori Peterson
On this episode of The Educate for Life Podcast, we dive into a powerful testimony that speaks directly to the heart of Christian education, biblical worldview formation, and the struggles families face in a culture increasingly confused about gender, identity, and the value of life. This conversation helps Christian parents, homeschool families, and young believers understand how faith and science, apologetics, and Scripture anchor us when the world around us seems to shift.
A Journey Marked by Pain, Truth, and the Healing Power of Christ
Kori Peterson—former Southern California Area Director for Concerned Women for America—joins Kevin Conover to share her deeply personal story of abortion, redemption, and navigating life with a transgender father. With grace and boldness, she speaks to issues that Christian parents, students, and educators encounter daily: gender identity confusion, sexual ethics, cultural pressure, and the sanctity of human life.
Her testimony highlights a theme central to a strong biblical worldview: Does God define reality, or do we? Kori’s story helps listeners understand why grounding our identity in Christ—and teaching our children to do the same—is essential in an age where personal perception is often treated as ultimate truth.
Kori also shares how Christian apologetics, compassionate ministry, and Scripture-centered community played a crucial role in her healing, offering hope to anyone walking through trauma, crisis pregnancy, or strained family relationships. Her story reminds us that God redeems, restores, and guides—even in the most painful chapters of life.

Imagine if you had a transgender family member or friend. Would that change your perception of that person? Would it change how you interacted with that person? Or would you just accept that person for who they are and move on? These are difficult questions to answer.
Our guest Kori Peterson has had to explore these questions to find answers on how to love her father who has become transgender. Kori has also had to deal with the pain and suffering that comes from abortion. Through her faith in Jesus Christ, she has learned that she needs to show love to her father, but that love doesn’t mean endorsing his lifestyle.
Currently, Kori Peterson is with Concerned Women For America. Concerned Women for America (CWA) is the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization with a rich history of over 35 years of helping their members across the country apply Biblical principles in all levels of public policy.
Whether you have a transgender family member or not, we hope that this episode will be insightful and encouraging.

Here’s a Short Excerpt from the Episode
- Kori: “After my abortion, I was devastated. I didn’t want to live. But when a pastor’s wife prayed for me, the Lord lifted the crushing weight of guilt right off my shoulders.”
- Kevin: “For those struggling today, your message is powerful—there is healing, there is hope, and God hasn’t forgotten you.”
- Kori: “When my dad told me he was living as a woman, I went through so many emotions. But ultimately, I wanted him to know the love of Christ, even if I couldn’t affirm the choices he was making.”
- Kevin: “These issues are real. Families everywhere are wrestling with them. But Scripture gives us clarity, and Christ gives us strength.”
- Kori: “You can love someone deeply without affirming something that goes against God’s design. Boundaries can be loving, too.”

[00:00:00] kind of her bring your time bring your shame bring yong-gil welcome to educate
[00:00:07] for life I’m your host Kevin Conover my website is join da educate for life dot o-r-g if you’ve been keeping up on the
[00:00:14] news and if you’re familiar with the discussion over transgender rights which
[00:00:20] is a huge topic in the media today with the decision Trump made a while back about transgenders in the military and
[00:00:27] so forth then we have athletes who are transgender who are joining sports teams
[00:00:32] of the sexes that is opposite to their birth so you have men who are transgender joining women’s sports teams
[00:00:39] it’s kind of throwing things off a lot of people don’t know how to deal with this and depending on your perspective
[00:00:44] you have different views on how this should be dealt with recently back in
[00:00:49] July Canada it looks like became the first country to give out an official
[00:00:57] genderless ID card this is an article from BuzzFeed news it says here and what
[00:01:02] could be the first such case in the world Canadian officials have issued a baby named Cyril and I’m not sure if I’m
[00:01:08] saying this right Cheryl Alti a health card without a gender marker the parent
[00:01:13] corrido t a non-binary transgender person who identifies as neither male nor female gave birth to Sarah in
[00:01:20] November and has been battling to keep the 8 month olds gender off all British Columbia government records ever since
[00:01:27] the health card has a you in the space for sex which could stand for unassigned
[00:01:32] or undetermined however officials refuse to issue a birth certificate without a
[00:01:37] gender and so what’s happening now in Canada here is that you have people saying hey this doesn’t make any sense
[00:01:42] we shouldn’t be doing this on the other hand the parent here Corey Doty is
[00:01:48] saying that that the baby needs to be able to identify their sex when they get
[00:01:55] older so again this is a subject that I brought up on the radio frequently because it’s such a hot issue in our
[00:02:01] culture today and that is does a pad does a person’s definition of themself
[00:02:08] matter more or does the reality of what they are matter more so
[00:02:13] CS Lewis called this perspectivism he thought it was very dangerous that a person defines reality how they define
[00:02:20] reality is more important than what reality actually is and and so the in our culture today we have this movement
[00:02:27] that’s essentially saying there is no such thing as truth there is no reality except the reality you make and you
[00:02:33] might think to yourself well how can how can a person say that that’s absolutely crazy but what they’re saying is this is
[00:02:39] that our minds are what is ultimately determines reality so you might see a
[00:02:44] table in front of you but they say without your mind to interpret what your senses are experiencing there is there
[00:02:50] would be no table so they’re saying that the mind is more important then actually
[00:02:55] what what you’re touching or feeling it’s what the mind perceives is what trumps whatever you’re experiencing and
[00:03:03] so so if you believe this what it means is is that how you perceive reality is
[00:03:09] more important than what reality actually is and is this a good thing or a bad thing now of course people that
[00:03:15] are supportive of this viewpoint perspectivism basically say a person
[00:03:21] should be able to define reality for themselves they are the end all and be all of their existence and therefore Who
[00:03:28] am I to impose my view of reality on them and generally speaking if you hold
[00:03:33] this perspective it’s because you don’t believe in God now or you you think God is questionable the existence of God is
[00:03:40] questionable I’m sure there are people who believe in God who still feel this way but but does God define reality or
[00:03:46] do we define reality am i in authority over over existence or is God in
[00:03:52] authority over existence did God make male and female or do i define what
[00:03:59] variety of sexes there are these are important questions and they really affect how we live how we treat others
[00:04:05] and ultimately also how what laws are going to be established in our country and around the world and it’s a huge
[00:04:11] culture war that’s happening right now I have a guest today who is familiar with
[00:04:17] these issues and this discussion her name is Corey Peterson she’s with
[00:04:23] Concerned Women for America which is the nation’s largest public see women’s organization it’s been
[00:04:29] around for about 35 years and they help people all across the country bring biblical principles into all levels of
[00:04:36] public policy that’s the goal they have about five hundred thousand members and they focus on seven core issues the
[00:04:43] family the sanctity of human life religious liberty education sexual
[00:04:48] exploitation national sovereignty and support for Israel and naturally all
[00:04:53] these seven issues are grounded in the scriptures in the Bible so Corey thank you so much for being here on the radio
[00:05:00] today thank you for having me absolutely now you were the director of CWA in
[00:05:07] Southern California is that right correct until the end of January okay and so now you’re you’re heading off to
[00:05:13] Texas why the move from California to Texas well I’ve been praying about
[00:05:18] America Texas for two years and I have to say it with politics it’s kind of catalyst I was following being being the
[00:05:25] area director in Southern California as concerned wonderful America I was following legislation pretty closely and
[00:05:30] getting pretty darn discouraged yeah how many battles were losing and so I just
[00:05:36] sort of trained about the move and the meantime I was still fighting and you know for our freedoms here in California
[00:05:43] and then anyway the Lord just kind of opened the doors for us to go and so we started walking through them and so we
[00:05:50] have relocated well I would follow you except that the weather is really nice
[00:05:55] here in San Diego and so it’s hard to leave but they don’t come they don’t
[00:06:02] call it they don’t call it America’s finest city for nothing yeah exactly exactly so well so your experience with
[00:06:10] this now now going back I wanted to kind of that our listeners to be able to have the opportunity to hear how you got
[00:06:15] involved with Concerned Women for America because it’s not something that you originally your intention was hey I want to get involved politically I want
[00:06:22] to become a a political junkie and really you know be up on all the political issues and maybe you can take
[00:06:29] us all the way back to how this all started and share your testimony for
[00:06:35] those of you who are listening Cory has suffered from abortion as well as I’ll
[00:06:42] give you a heads up on what we’re gonna be talking about she which which would hint from the article but her father is
[00:06:48] transgender and so she has a story to share that many people don’t get to hear
[00:06:54] don’t get to hear this kind of perspective and so I think it’s very valuable for our listeners to hear where she’s coming from as somebody who loves
[00:07:00] the Lord and has been impacted by these issues so we we have about three minutes
[00:07:06] left in this segment so we’ll start it off start your testimony off Cory but we’ll have to pick up on the next
[00:07:12] segment to finish that off so why don’t you take us all the way back to where you grew up and what your family was
[00:07:17] like okay all right so I grew up in El Cajon there in San Diego and lived with
[00:07:27] my mom my mom with a single mom in and out of marriages and stuff and then my grandma my my parents divorced when when
[00:07:34] I was five and so so at the time we was in North Carolina and my mom said to my
[00:07:39] sister and I that’s not here to California and then you know we just kind of grew up in the area so all my
[00:07:47] childhood it really until like I said just earlier this year my whole life really has been in front of California
[00:07:53] and my family was not necessarily Christian family although if you asked them the same way they did say yes that
[00:07:58] they were kind of Christmas and Easter only types and I just you know if you’re
[00:08:03] an American then you must be Christian and perspective really and but I always
[00:08:09] had a heart for the Lord I just never realized that you could really go go deeper and so when I was in when I was
[00:08:15] in junior high I started attending a youth group in El Cajon and that’s when I first heard the Gospel message and and
[00:08:23] just really got the salvation message message that I needed to accept Jesus in my heart and and live live for him as
[00:08:29] Lord of my life and so for me the easy decision I thought I was already doing that now how did you hold that how did
[00:08:35] you end up finding out about this youth group and ended up going to the church well I took a question um I I think it
[00:08:43] just opened up down the street from where I grew up I won in El Cajon Jason Jason Baldwin’s yeah exactly where that
[00:08:50] is okay yeah and there was a young lady that started a youth group I saw just
[00:08:56] maybe a block down the street and I grabbed a girl friend of mine who was a neighbor and we started going whenever
[00:09:02] those days we started working it at a camp there in Hamoui called Indian host camp oh my goodness wait wait you know I
[00:09:08] lived for two years on Mollison when I first moved to California from New Jersey that’s so ironic and I know all
[00:09:15] about Indian Hills camp I’ve been there many many times so that’s funny but anyway go on I don’t want to cut you off
[00:09:20] actually I am gonna cut you off because we’re coming up on a break here so so stay tuned my guest is Cory Peterson
[00:09:27] she’s with CWA she’s a homeschool mom and very involved in these issues she’s has quite a life story and you can
[00:09:35] get hope from what she’s been through and how she’s come out on the other side of these issues and is continuing to
[00:09:41] seek the Lord and honor him with her life through the struggles she’s been through so stay with us we’re gonna be right back
[00:09:49] hi this is jason hall president of team home loans a branch of synergy one

[00:12:12] can I also just recently interviewed Denise Schick who has an amazing testimony her father told her he was
[00:12:19] transgender at nine years old and she talks all about the process she’s been through with that it’s amazing my guest
[00:12:24] today is Corey Peterson she’s with Concerned Women for America in Texas now
[00:12:31] she’s gone from California to Texas and the website is CAC WFA dot o-r-g if
[00:12:39] you’d like to get involved they’re an amazing organization actually started by Beverly LaHaye who lived out here in
[00:12:46] Southern California with Tim LaHaye they are Tim LaHaye was the author of Left Behind so that all these kind of
[00:12:52] ties together here but my so Corey you you were telling us that you were
[00:12:57] growing up in in a El Cajon California you went to a church there you ended up getting invited somebody started a youth
[00:13:03] group and you ended up turning your life over to Christ so so pick up from there
[00:13:09] what happened next sure so then I went to high school El Cajon Valley High School was very
[00:13:14] involved in the youth group at another church down there on Mollison Chi and
[00:13:19] and then I also got very involved in the Christ campus life while I was in high school and so my leader was Darren
[00:13:27] Higgins oh my gosh yeah he teaches Bible with me at Christian high school it’s
[00:13:38] too funny I didn’t know any of this before we had we started this show this
[00:13:44] is crazy yeah I mean me and Darren are really good friends and talk all the
[00:13:49] time he gives me a hard time all the time Darren if you’re listening okay
[00:13:56] it’s you’ve gone oh well there it was really influential in my life in high school and I think I kept me on a
[00:14:02] straight path I really wasn’t too interested in in veering off into the
[00:14:07] party scene or anything like that but they real involved in campus life and
[00:14:13] worked very closely with Darren babysit his daughter and back in the day after high school I think that occurred
[00:14:20] last off you know I didn’t transition more from high school to college and I’m not really I’m not just a high school
[00:14:27] coach I’m experienced at an int transition well you know going from youth group and this kind of focus on on
[00:14:34] youth activities and then and then transitioning and you know you know what it’s like to be an adult Christian yeah
[00:14:40] yeah and there’s a gap there yeah it’s difficult because you had a lot of times
[00:14:45] you have a community in high school and then when you move off to college that community is kind of missing and so it’s
[00:14:51] harder to would you say it’s harder to maintain your christianity without that kind of body of christ around you I
[00:14:58] don’t think so because this whole culture is kind of changing as a circle change and of course you know I was
[00:15:04] still a birthday made for Christ and they used to but that was kind of my social fear so when that just was was
[00:15:11] ended because I graduated high school I didn’t really as kind of floundering don’t really know where to go and so um
[00:15:17] so anyway you know I go to church on Sundays but shortly after that I got involved with the guy and in town and we
[00:15:26] have been friends for a couple of years and Stefan I never thought anything would happen but long story short I
[00:15:32] ended up having an abortion and it totally was absolutely devastating to me
[00:15:37] not to I’m talking talk more about that later you’re a bat just put me on my face before the Lord where I really just
[00:15:44] was so broken so contrite now how how old were you when that happened it was
[00:15:51] just before my 20th birthday that that has to be absolutely devastating and
[00:15:56] what and did you have people that were supporting you after you went through that or was that where you kind of were
[00:16:03] you on your own I mean because that’s not something that you want to tell people especially at that age so what
[00:16:11] happened there and especially with the reputation I had a third girl involved most Christian clubs and I was born and
[00:16:18] stuff so younger the only person that me was my boyfriend and instead and then I
[00:16:25] had told one at a friend of ours when school’s over first more College well so only two people knew
[00:16:32] yeah only two people know it was so it was such a hard yeah yeah alright so I
[00:16:42] kind of want to just pause here because I feel like it’s important to let people
[00:16:48] know how to respond to this so looking back on your life and what you had gone through at that point let’s say there’s
[00:16:56] a girl out there right now who’s who’s maybe going through something similar what would you say to her and what would
[00:17:04] you say to maybe people involved about how what should be done and and how
[00:17:09] should they be responding and what should be going on in their heart because I mean that’s such an intense pain I want somebody to have hope now if
[00:17:17] they’re listening and this is what they’re going through what would you say to them I would say find a Pregnancy
[00:17:23] Resource Center something like as a 22 care center in El Cajon or silent voices down in Chula Vista or Ramona pregnancy
[00:17:30] center up in Ramona or I was at life choices I didn’t Poway they’re all over
[00:17:35] the city I would I would tell any of these women and do not do not head to Planned Parenthood head to one of these resource
[00:17:42] centers because they want to love you they want to love your baby and they want to help you and a lot of the
[00:17:49] narrative is that Oh Pro lifers they only want to save the baby they don’t care about the mother I said all the
[00:17:54] time yeah nothing could be further from the truth if you would here impure in Imperial Valley there’s a there’s a
[00:17:59] group called real Hope Center and they will even help get these these girls through school there’s no there’s no
[00:18:07] limit to what they will do for these girls and so and so I would just say I think I have known of that um you know I
[00:18:15] I think I would have gone a direction but in the only thing I knew might default with Planned Parenthood because
[00:18:20] Planned Parenthood was in the school my boyfriend knew about Planned Parenthood and that’s all I know
[00:18:25] and you know their diverse industry for so anyway I think I think that that’s
[00:18:31] really if there’s if there’s someone out there and yeah finding Pregnancy Resource Center’s because they are just
[00:18:37] there to serve an airball mostly that they are volunteering their time they’re doing everything they can yeah help these the girls and their baby and
[00:18:44] if it’s a boy if it’s a boy who who’s listening to this right now and he’s the one that you know got the girl pregnant
[00:18:52] what would you say to him uh uh I would
[00:18:57] just say to be so compassionate it’s such a it’s such a terrifying thing to
[00:19:02] go through crisis pregnancy especially when you can’t tell anybody and so I’m and and to know that because
[00:19:08] I think we we work at abortion like it’s an easy answer Oh nobody well-known we’ll go on with our lives
[00:19:14] yeah and you know that’s what’s being protest but I mean we can see when you look at women who have been grieved over
[00:19:20] their abortions and and then you and I even met a grandpa recently he was so agree to an abortion but in his family
[00:19:26] and you know these are not things that we just get over and move on from their days that we carry with us our whole
[00:19:31] lives and if we don’t heal from them they do affect our decisions through the rest of life so I would just encourage
[00:19:37] them to to not think that it’s just a quick problem that will go away there’s
[00:19:43] a problem now with the crisis pregnancy don’t compound it by adding abortion to
[00:19:48] it if you’re taking the life of a child and they even have to bear that forever yeah and that and that so I just want
[00:19:55] encourage if you’re listening out there right now and you know somebody who’s struggling with this or considering abortion a lot of people think abortion
[00:20:01] like like Corey said is going to just solve the problem but it actually makes the problem worse and that’s what that’s
[00:20:08] what Planned Parenthood doesn’t tell people is that this is not a memory that just disappears and I think I just want
[00:20:15] to emphasize what you said Corey again is that the people at these pregnancy centers they are there for you they want
[00:20:21] to help you they want to love you they’re going to wrap their arms around you nobody’s going to condemn you or judge you or you know or ruin your life
[00:20:29] they’re there to help you through this and there’s no place you’re going to get more compassion and kindness and help
[00:20:36] financial help spiritual help emotional help everything you need they’re gonna do it I have a good friend that works at
[00:20:41] a pregnancy care clinic here in San Diego through college area pregnancy services and what they do is just
[00:20:48] fantastic so again I just want to encourage you to do that and I think that’s so powerful
[00:20:54] we’re coming up on another break here the segment’s by goes you go by so quick here but my guest today is cory peterson
[00:21:01] and she’s with Concerned Women for America if you if you don’t know about this organization please get involved
[00:21:07] with them you can visit their website see WFA org or here in California CAC
[00:21:13] WFA org and they’ve got over 500,000 members that are working very hard
[00:21:19] working together as a as a team to make a difference in public policy decisions
[00:21:25] and so this is our opportunity to have a have an impact beyond what we can do
[00:21:31] alone and to join up and they send out alerts about things that are happening
[00:21:36] so that you can be involved and you can make phone calls you can get you can donate you can do all kinds of stuff so
[00:21:43] that you can have an impact on our culture for Christ okay we’re going to be right back we’ve got a few more
[00:21:49] segments and we’re gonna hear the rest of Corey’s story including her transgender father and how she has
[00:21:57] responded it to that issue we’ll be right back [Music]

[00:25:04] tablet your computer whatever you need please check it out join educate for life dot o-r-g my guest today is Corey
[00:25:11] Peterson with Concerned Women for America and the last segment we we ended
[00:25:17] Corey had recently gotten an abortion she was a good girl good Christian girl
[00:25:23] who loved God but got involved with a boyfriend and this happens more often
[00:25:28] than then people know and it’s not always the bad people that are that are
[00:25:34] making mistakes right and and we’re all bad to a certain extent we all need Christ so Corey can you pick up what
[00:25:40] happened after that and and where did you get help ultimately after the abortion
[00:25:48] yeah I was just on my face so broken after my abortion and I went to call the
[00:25:54] one girlfriend that I had during the time that knew and that my going to open up with me by this time this was only
[00:26:00] maybe two weeks later and I went to call her and just call my idols out to her and she wasn’t home her mother answered
[00:26:08] and as soon as she answers it to tell obviously there’s something wrong because if the assailant another happened to be a pastor’s wife happened
[00:26:17] to be exactly Oh Longhorn’s for it i bared my soul good
[00:26:25] bad and ugly to her on the phone and and she said oh and then she said let me
[00:26:32] pray for you and 50 creepin on the phone and I can’t hold it said she didn’t
[00:26:38] judge you or condemn you or you know tell you – oh and she just loved you oh
[00:26:43] my god she loved me and then she pray for me and all the guilt and and you
[00:26:50] know I want it I wasn’t suicidal by didn’t want to live you know all of everything I was bearing a heaviness I’m very ashes praying I just felt like
[00:26:57] light as feather and all I can say is that peace that surpasses all understanding or just took it and and
[00:27:04] then I asked I said what should I do and she said you have a Bible and I said
[00:27:10] when you start reading the falls so I started the Psalms and a couple days later and I was like not just reading I
[00:27:16] was digging and I was cross-referencing I was study in the word for the first time really ever in my life and then I
[00:27:22] called her a couple days later and I said Marilyn she said okay well why don’t read the coverage then I called her the next day
[00:27:27] and she said I said know it and she goes why don’t you lay through i’ma come on and I said you can’t like
[00:27:35] if you can have a little fun husband will start University oh that’s fantastic I thought you were hungry for God’s Word
[00:27:43] just ravenous yes and it was this communal ayah penetrating to the song
[00:27:49] was thinking this was written for me ya know that Psalm thirty eleven you turned my mourning understand see you remove my
[00:27:55] fat cloth clothing so that my heart would not be silent all oh my god I’ll give you think forever and they’re all
[00:28:00] viewed on all night long like that in tears and one was fairly annoyed with all of these things and I
[00:28:06] think oh wow well that’s what I love about the Scriptures you know is that
[00:28:11] this is not some fantasy this is real people live in real life interacting with a real God you know and so healing
[00:28:19] no well I still sharing a lot of a grief and guilt of the abortion and so I spend
[00:28:24] a lot of time in theaters and and stuff and I said that her house one night and I was just wanting to leave cried too but the poor woman did have a wife but
[00:28:36] there’s somebody here from a group called silent voices a group them tools if they’re for less than a dollar and
[00:28:42] they do a post-abortion recovery weekend and so she signed me up for it and it’s
[00:28:48] it’s done by Sharon Pierce if you know who she is the director gentle Vista is written an amazing colliculi on that
[00:28:55] several centers actually used now and so I find that for it so and so it was four
[00:29:01] months after my abortion I was at this recovery weekend and the world is just healing my heart and and so it was
[00:29:09] really I mean there will always be grief over it yeah there was only so much more
[00:29:14] feeling that came that Lincoln and I started to walk free that’s fantastic mm-hmm so little did
[00:29:20] you know that you had other other stuff that was going to be coming up as far as your father how long how long was it
[00:29:28] before you you found out that your father had begun cross-dressing okay so
[00:29:37] I mentioned earlier that my parents divorced when I was five and so when I was about 28 just before my husband I
[00:29:45] was about to get married a couple months before I found out that my dad was cross-dressing and you know we had a
[00:29:52] pretty distant relationship although we did keep in contact yeah but I thought I’d hate cross-dressing so I got like a wide
[00:29:57] range of emotions really with them probably like I feel like it was 15 seconds you know from from embarrassment
[00:30:03] to anger to – I mean I was even laughing
[00:30:10] over her – in the end I just was so grieved and I’m still so sad
[00:30:15] so sad so my job my face and then I mean I’m never leaving when I found out about my drug process seeing that my mother
[00:30:21] had found out and sureties me now was was he living here in San Diego um I
[00:30:28] don’t think he was at the time he’s always with kind of a a roaming
[00:30:34] lifestyle now it’ll make sense to the truck driver was in the military for a long time in many ways a truck driver
[00:30:40] for many years and when he retired he would RV and kind of travel about you know now it all makes sense but I wanted
[00:30:47] to say you know what by the end of the time I thought my dad was cross with me I just really wanted to love him yeah
[00:30:53] and how did you how did you find that out how did you find out that it was did he tell you no he didn’t tell me
[00:30:59] apparently he’s been in and out of many marriages to an ex-wife had contacted my mother and and then I found out ok there
[00:31:07] dad yeah so you just wanted your reaction was you wanted to love him in
[00:31:13] the end I mean I went through so much and I said literally in 30 seconds I went through so many emotions but in the
[00:31:19] end I just really in fact so much wanted 11 as my husband my fiance time we were
[00:31:26] driving back to Los Angeles where I live in Orange County he was live in LA at the time and we were driving back up for
[00:31:33] a long drive to kind of discuss it and there’s a song I play on the radio by Thursday and and I told told Jamie my
[00:31:41] head I thought I want this song in our wedding my wanted there for my dad you know just that he knows a love of God
[00:31:46] and so that’s really my heart for my dad after that but it was something we never
[00:31:51] talked about I never mentioned it to my dad and I hope it’s a while so I know we don’t have very much time but um you
[00:31:58] know eventually my my sister found out of course around the same time as your
[00:32:05] sister older and is your sister older or younger she’s 3 years younger she was on the East Coast okay and so yeah does she
[00:32:13] was she close at all to your father no no not at all and after this she kind
[00:32:19] of asked them and said hey look you know what about had children we don’t really want this in our life or youth in it do
[00:32:25] you want to dress like a woman or do you want to be example and he in not very nice words told her
[00:32:32] to take a hike and and then like a letter came out later that we saw that
[00:32:38] he said and you know if Corey feels the same way well I don’t use the words but
[00:32:44] your home to her to basically and in it that was really heartbreaking just because of course we were we were
[00:32:51] wanting to love him and accept not accepted what are you doing but we wanted to love him we don’t no idea what
[00:32:57] it would look like if I said all of this but yeah somebody might say yeah somebody might say well what does that
[00:33:02] look like you know what if if I have a transgender coworker or I have somebody
[00:33:08] in my family that’s transgender and these are tough decisions that come up
[00:33:14] and how do I respond well we come back my guest today is Corey Peterson and she’s gonna talk to us a little bit
[00:33:20] about how she’s navigated these waters well how do you respond to somebody that’s a relative especially a father
[00:33:26] who’s chosen to engage in this lifestyle and to make these decisions we’re gonna
[00:33:32] be right back and please stay with us we’ve got two segments left

[00:35:58] slash educate for life video we’ve got somewhere around 70 or so 70 or 80
[00:36:04] different radio programs up there all that have to do with all kinds of amazing issues and amazing people I’ve
[00:36:10] got up there let’s see dr. James tour he is one of
[00:36:16] the foremost scientists in the world he’s an organic synthetic chemist he talks about how he knows evolution is
[00:36:22] not true it’s absolutely fantastic also have just recently interviewed Denis Schick who has a transgender father also
[00:36:30] along these same lines recently interviewed Patti Hite who is a former lesbian who left the homosexual
[00:36:36] lifestyle to pursue Christ as well as dr. Christopher yuan who is a former
[00:36:44] homosexual who met Christ in prison amazing story and I also have on there
[00:36:52] all kinds of other people that have incredible stories about how Christ has impacted their life and the lives of
[00:36:58] those they know and just amazing testimonies to hear about God working in their lives it’s it’s all meant to give
[00:37:04] you hope and to let you know that God is true the Bible is His Word and that you can bet your life on the Bible put your
[00:37:11] build your life upon the Word of God so my guest today is Corey Peterson who has another fantastic testimony in Corey
[00:37:17] when we left off you were talking about how your your father basically shut you
[00:37:23] and your sister out of his life and so I think the question for those who have
[00:37:29] you could say transgender or people have embraced the homosexual lifestyle and
[00:37:34] they’re trying to navigate these waters how do I be a Christian and be loving because Christ told us to love all people but at the same time what does
[00:37:41] that mean does that mean at Christmastime my transgender father who’s dressed like a woman comes over
[00:37:50] and spends time with my kids you know what how do you navigate these waters
[00:37:56] yeah I don’t think so well let me sauce for it a little bit my
[00:38:02] dad did get back into contact with me a lot of right around the time my second son was born and we had a pretty good
[00:38:09] relationship for a few years and again we never spoke about the cross-dressing
[00:38:14] things I didn’t even know he was transgender at the time I just hear that cause he had kind of been a sin so I thought maybe he had moved on from it
[00:38:20] because he was coming around and where and whatever well then and five years
[00:38:27] ago so what about 2012 he he showed up at my son’s birthday of having seen
[00:38:34] addressed man okay and I am he lingered and after other kids were in bed and
[00:38:41] stuff he had some news he wanted to tell us and basically the Veterans Administration the VA cuz he’s retired
[00:38:48] army and had been given permission to diagnose transgender identity disorder
[00:38:53] and so he had recently gained this diagnosis and it validated him to go
[00:39:00] ahead and live his life as as the woman he believed he he always was so here he was sharing this with me finally we’re
[00:39:06] talking about it so Koriyama question so the VA diagnosed this as a disorder but
[00:39:11] their solution to the issue is to then allow them to try to become more like a
[00:39:18] woman not to help them adjust to being a man or to to navigate through the
[00:39:26] psychological and emotional issues of being a man how does that work I don’t
[00:39:32] know it looks cool to me and I think to anyone know it learned that what’s happening is they’re propagating the
[00:39:38] mental illness rather than treating it and then and they’re not just propagating it but now we’re getting to the point where were a quote treating
[00:39:45] transgenderism by you know the elation at surgeries that are that are going on in the hormone unblocking as a hormone
[00:39:53] replace job all this kind of stuff so so yeah well now they don’t call it sense
[00:39:58] in their identity to sort of you know they call it trans gender dysphoria they don’t they don’t call it a disorder
[00:40:03] anymore right and so um yeah so he he he
[00:40:09] kind of came out with it and I basically just told him you know I said well we had a very of old relationships for about a year
[00:40:15] after that where we were able to talk and he would you know I would kind of see where he’s going to know you tell me
[00:40:20] that he wanted he needed to have vocal cord surgery or ease and I have a rhinoplasty and it’s a hormone
[00:40:25] replacement and um you know just various things were what you were telling but
[00:40:31] like all this kind of like crazy laborious really stuff and so he would
[00:40:36] just kind of you know kind of keep me in the loop and all this so we would either text we would talk on the phone we had
[00:40:42] email and then a table would see each other as long as he was dressed you know anything’s a t-shirt as an and well then
[00:40:48] he decided pretty much just dressing every day as a woman and so I asked him I said is this what you’re doing cause I
[00:40:55] don’t want you I’ll see ya I want you to do what you’re going to do they’re not fake it around my kids you
[00:41:02] know and me so so what are you doing because if you’re gonna go full-time in this then we’re gonna have to cut off any physical contact you know what’s
[00:41:08] going on and still talk on the phone with you know you know let’s see that so that’s kind of where we went within that year so can I ask you Cory can I ask you
[00:41:16] so it’s clear your decision was if he was going to choose this lifestyle you were going to not allow him to be around
[00:41:22] your children so somebody might be thinking okay but is that the loving biblical thing to do can you explain your thoughts on that
[00:41:29] why was that the decision that you and your husband came to as far as your father was concerned somebody might be thinking well wouldn’t have been more
[00:41:35] loving to allow him to be around you and their kids regardless of how he dressed what what can you can you expound on
[00:41:43] that yeah I think you can be loving and not subject your children to things that
[00:41:48] are too confusing when they’re too young and so that’s really where I was coming from my kids were I don’t know seven and
[00:41:55] eight maybe nine it’s time I wasn’t about to just that my father dress you
[00:42:02] know as a woman and he’s not pulling it off well either so you know it’s obviously it’s obviously my dad and so
[00:42:09] um I wasn’t going to have my kids that witness that was just too confusing I think it’s disturbing at that Jungman
[00:42:16] agent honestly as a daughter I didn’t want to see my father that way this is my dad yeah I want him to be my dad I
[00:42:23] or to see him as in a something that really he’s pretending to be and so it
[00:42:30] wasn’t really you know I felt like I could still be loving to my dad and still set some boundaries yeah of course
[00:42:36] and really yeah and God does that with us all the time I mean boundaries are
[00:42:43] actually a demonstration of love frequently especially when it comes to children or so forth we’re trying to
[00:42:50] protect them as well as love the person so it’s tough to navigate sometimes you have to draw those lines and say I’m
[00:42:56] this is not something that is going to influence my kids well I was like you said they’re too young to be able to
[00:43:01] handle those sorts of issues right right yeah so and so he started so we thought
[00:43:07] you know like seeing each other and we it was where that we’d see each other anyway but we started that and just
[00:43:13] continued to talk on the phone but you know mostly was him doing the talking and I was just you know ask questions or
[00:43:20] he’d tell me about how you know this person is really accepting what he’s doing isn’t that great and I would just
[00:43:25] say I couldn’t affirm and so I would just say well it’s interesting you know because I felt like if I said anything
[00:43:31] and that he would take his negative he would below it and so um so eventually
[00:43:39] we were one like we were texting back and forth telling me about some surgeries and procedures and consultations that he needed to have and
[00:43:45] so I just wrote it back I said you know thank you so much for letting me know what swearing idea would be very much but I am sad to see you taking this a
[00:43:52] natural path well that was it after that he you know called me said that I was
[00:43:57] being judgemental and called me a bigot and and you know have a nice life so how
[00:44:03] many back how many years has it been since you have spoken to your father well that was four years ago he did
[00:44:10] start contacting me via text the following year on my birthday and Mother’s Day and stuff like that and
[00:44:17] then he stopped again until about a year later where he texted me again and told
[00:44:22] me that he was going to be having his reassignment surgery this was two years ago and I never responded to those texts
[00:44:29] because honestly I didn’t say yeah so the last time I mean there’s any
[00:44:34] exchange between us I guess there would be about three years ago but I heard sometimes two years ago when he told me via text that he was going to be having
[00:44:41] a reassignment okay my guest today is Cory Peterson and we’ve been talking about her testimony what she’s been
[00:44:48] through and also just most recently what her father is doing that the sex reassignment surgery we’re gonna finish
[00:44:54] up we have one more segment could talk a little bit more about this also talk about Paul McHugh from John Hopkins and
[00:45:00] his assessment of transgender surgery we’ll be right back for 36 years

[00:47:50] fantastic resource my guest today is Corey Peterson she’s with Concerned Women for America and she her testimony
[00:47:57] is phenomenal the faithfulness of God in her life and even through the trials
[00:48:02] that she’s going through now and and her relationship with her father and I wanted to just start off this segment
[00:48:08] because a lot of people think that somehow the transgender surgery is doing
[00:48:15] people a favor but according to Paul McHugh who was the hospital’s chief of Psychiatry John
[00:48:21] Hopkins chief of Psychiatry from 1975 to 2001 he he says that this is a mental
[00:48:29] problem not a physical biological problem so whereas those who are
[00:48:34] supportive of transgender surgery might say hey we got to fix this problem by
[00:48:40] adjusting the body to fit the mind what he’s saying is there’s been a trauma in
[00:48:47] the mind that has caused this person to have this dysphoria and we have to adjust the mind to fit the body because
[00:48:54] the body is reality but the mind is perceiving things wrong and this is this is really what the battle is about is
[00:49:01] that is does our mind define reality meaning our perceptions or is reality
[00:49:09] what it is and we have to adjust the way we think to fit reality and the Bible
[00:49:15] talks all about this kind of an issue that ultimately our mind God is reality and we have to adjust our mind to think
[00:49:22] the way God thinks because he created all of creation and if our mind deviates from his creation how he’s created
[00:49:29] things then we’re only going to experience pain and I just want to make it clear that both Corey and I we love
[00:49:36] people but we think that the solutions that the world is proposing are actually hurting
[00:49:43] people not helping them would you say that’s right Cory yes definitely and and
[00:49:49] your involvement with CWA why did you start to get involved with them and how
[00:49:55] did that process take place because I love what you said I read a little bit of your biography how you were saying
[00:50:01] that this isn’t something that you were necessarily excited about you are if you
[00:50:06] are somewhat fearful but yet you took those steps anyway mm-hmm yeah well
[00:50:12] after my abortion back in 94 I used to listen to KPRC when I was in San Diego and Beverly Beverly LaHaye life was a
[00:50:20] show that was on at the time and so that’s my first who kind of introduces CWA but I didn’t really follow and then
[00:50:25] just about I don’t know maybe 2008 2009 I received a contact through my church
[00:50:31] in Borrego Springs asking if I would start a prayer action chapter since our woman for America for action chapter at
[00:50:37] my church and so I went ahead and started doing that and it’s just as it was a just a monthly meeting I get some
[00:50:44] ladies together we’ve read through this Concerned Women for America newsletter pray about stuff going on and take
[00:50:50] action whether that would be calling a legislator or doing a petition driver ever so I started doing that but I was
[00:50:57] but I started getting real vocal politically I’m not even really sure what the catalyst was I don’t know if it
[00:51:03] was the last administration I don’t know if it was homeschooling my children I don’t know if it was I suddenly fell in
[00:51:09] love with American history back in about 2007 I don’t know that maybe all those
[00:51:15] things where you’re paying a lot more attention politically so I started just really speaking out on social media and
[00:51:22] stuff like that well as I mean in the meantime I’m leading the prayer action chapter well then the Southern
[00:51:28] California area director at the time Ruth Smith who is now the current and a director again we had contacted me and
[00:51:35] said look I need to resign because I need to focus on some children’s and music ministry I really think this is a
[00:51:41] good fit for you where you take it so I went ahead and stepped into the role of Southern California area directors yes
[00:51:47] it was very very scary for me what was the scariest well yeah what was
[00:51:52] the scariest part about that the hardest thing for me are things like those like radio interviews or taking and so are
[00:51:59] you really are you really nervous right now or are you are you more comfortable okay well an hour before you called me
[00:52:04] it’s good for our listeners to hear the
[00:52:10] behind the scenes no I always like I’m quite at ease right now that you’re
[00:52:16] making it easy so thank you I really
[00:52:24] believe I used to have I used to think that when someone asked me to speak I need to pray about it or whatever I
[00:52:29] think sometimes do certain it’s a testimony this is my conviction I’m not famous for everybody I guess but my
[00:52:35] conviction is when someone asked me about my testimony I need to speak it and it’s revelation that this comes my
[00:52:41] helpoemer it says they overcame the devil by the blood of the Lamb the word testimony and not living their lives to
[00:52:47] death in your life you because because coming on the radio is close to dying
[00:52:53] right they say that that people fear public speaking more than they do dying so there you go somebody one museum a
[00:53:03] testimony at a hospital board meeting devil center because they opened at the Planned Parenthood there two years ago you’re hiding exciting that uh submit
[00:53:10] its own story but oh my gosh it was terrifying but as soon as they and I think I knew I had to say yes I went
[00:53:16] like you’re not what if I if I shake and I look like a fool and I think and I look like every wall this write my words
[00:53:21] down and and read them if I have to but I want to speak your truth here you know and so yeah so that’s really what kind
[00:53:29] of been out of my comfort zone but you know what the cool thing is is like God used that he uses us because it causes
[00:53:35] us to trust in him it causes us to not put so much faith and how we look you know in early for me ya know I’m so
[00:53:41] worried sometimes about how people can perceive me I’m like an embarrassed myself or whatever and I just kind of got to the point where I was like you
[00:53:47] know Moses said that he couldn’t speak and God said he would speak for him and you know kind of what I’ve climbed to is
[00:53:52] you know if I look like a fool to Esther if I perish I perish you know do what I
[00:53:59] need to do I’d rather be obedient than comfortable I love it that’s that’s really kind of
[00:54:04] the big thing I’ve learned in the last couple of years working with Concerned Women for America that’s such a powerful
[00:54:10] message because if there was ever time we needed more and more people to you know decide to have that courage decide
[00:54:16] hey I’m just gonna I’m just gonna go for it like you said whether I perish I perish and the reality is is that we’re not in
[00:54:23] a country where usually we typically have to worry about perishing we might we might face some persecution emotional
[00:54:30] and even potentially physical but but of by and large we still are a country that
[00:54:35] embraces religious freedom and embraces Christianity it to a large extent but if
[00:54:40] people don’t stand up like you’re doing then that could pass by the wayside and
[00:54:46] we could end up being in a country that’s even you know far more hostile than it currently is truly yeah yeah and
[00:54:52] you know what the the what you were saying that struck me I always loved that that quote by Edmund Burke all
[00:55:00] that’s necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing and and so
[00:55:05] here you are if people want to get involved with Concerned Women for America what’s the best way for them to do that and does concerned women for
[00:55:11] america need more people more volunteers or they pretty much you know got what they need absolutely we always need
[00:55:18] people and we we really need our prayer action leaders so like that’s how I got
[00:55:24] involved started a little group and to pray and take action and then you know we have steering committee needs in the
[00:55:31] state of California as well so the best thing is you is to go to Concerned Women
[00:55:36] org or CW FA org or specifically in state of California going to that CAC
[00:55:43] WFA org website and signing up there sign up for the alerts and become a
[00:55:49] member it’s a $25 donation to become a member and and then you know I’ll get
[00:55:57] the resources from CWA and kind of see what their there are because besides that besides the proaction chapters
[00:56:04] which is our grassroots and you know they have a strong national presence I’m actually heading to BC on Tuesday next
[00:56:11] week for our leadership training and we have a policy briefing in the White House or Phoenix we
[00:56:18] yeah so it’s kind of exciting that is very exciting we are you know it’s funny
