Kevin Interviews Dean Broyles with The National Center for Law & Policy
On this episode of The Educate for Life Podcast, Kevin Conover dives into one of the most urgent issues facing Christian education, biblical worldview formation, and Christian parenting today. As families navigate a culture that increasingly challenges historic Christian beliefs, ministries and homeschool curriculum rooted in a strong biblical worldview have never been more important. This episode brings clarity, courage, and hope for believers who want to stand firm while living compassionately in a rapidly changing world.
A Closer Look at the Battle for Religious Freedom and Our Kids’ Hearts
Kevin is joined by Dean Broyles, president of The National Center for Law & Policy, a ministry dedicated to defending religious liberty, parental rights, and constitutional freedoms. With a Juris Doctorate from Regent University and mentorship under constitutional litigator Jay Sekulow, Dean has spent decades standing on the front lines of key legal battles shaping the moral and spiritual direction of America.
In this episode, Dean and Kevin unpack the rising challenges facing Christian families, especially when it comes to public-school curriculum, sex education frameworks, and ideological agendas that undermine a biblical worldview. They explore why legal advocacy is essential for protecting children from harmful influences, and how Christian apologetics and faith-centered guidance can equip young believers to discern truth in a culture full of confusion.
Their conversation goes beyond legal cases and headlines. Together, they highlight the deeper spiritual stakes: the imprint of the imago Dei, the importance of moral clarity, and the responsibility Christian parents and educators carry in shaping the next generation’s understanding of truth, identity, and God’s design.
Key Takeaways
- How cultural shifts in sex education and gender ideology impact Christian families
- Why defending religious liberty matters for homeschoolers, churches, and Christian educators
- The connection between legal battles and shaping a holistic biblical worldview
- Practical steps parents can take to protect their children and stay informed
- How Christian apologetics can strengthen young believers in an age of moral relativism

- Kevin Conover: “We’re talking about something that affects every Christian parent. What we allow into our kids’ minds today shapes the adults they become tomorrow.”
- Dean Broyles: “Within minutes of looking at the curriculum, any parent can see how harmful it truly is. The real battle is awareness—so many families don’t even know what’s being taught.”
- Kevin Conover: “And that’s why conversations like this matter. We’re called to protect children, point them to Christ, and help them make godly decisions in a confused culture.”

[00:00:25] welcome to educate for life I’m your host Kevin Conover and we are live this is the first time I’ve ever done this so
[00:00:31] I’m pretty excited here I’ve got in studio right now Jordan along with Dean Broyles and we
[00:00:38] are trying out here screaming this on YouTube and Facebook and all we’re actually this show that we’re we’re
[00:00:44] having today is actually going to be on the air on K prz 12 10:00 a.m. this
[00:00:49] Saturday 2:00 to 3:00 but what I wanted to do is try out streaming this so if you’re out there listening and you have
[00:00:56] an opportunity to maybe type in some comments or send us a text we’d love to get your opinion on what we’re talking
[00:01:02] about so please feel free to do that I’m gonna start off by reading a quick article we’re talking about a pretty hot
[00:01:08] subject today it’s sex education curriculum in the public schools specifically we’re talking about sex
[00:01:14] education in San Diego Unified School District there’s been a bit of a battle going on because the curriculum is so
[00:01:20] outrageous and this is a really cool article this is from life news.com it
[00:01:25] says new report proves abstinence education works fewer high school
[00:01:30] students are having sex and the data on this is January 8th 2018 it’s by tony
[00:01:36] perkins and let me just read to you a segment of this article here here’s what it says for every parent who’s trying to
[00:01:43] tell their teenage kids that everyone’s not doing it here’s proof according to the CDC’s new nationwide report the
[00:01:49] number of high school students who said they’ve ever had sex dropped from 47% in 2005 to 41% in 2015 so there’s a six
[00:01:58] percent drop there according to this study between 2005 and 2015 the good news is even better for african-american
[00:02:04] students who showed improvements across the board followed by Hispanics who practiced more abstinence in three of the four grades
[00:02:11] none of this is thanks to the previous administration researchers say after two
[00:02:16] terms of the last administration’s if it feels good do it approach most experts agree that President Obama accomplished
[00:02:23] one thing making the situation worse compared with their peers a 2016 study by the American Journal of Public Health
[00:02:30] found that teenagers in the government’s programs were more likely to have begin having sex and more likely to get
[00:02:36] pregnant and it’s no wonder the was so extreme that 40% of young people actually said they felt more pressure to
[00:02:43] engage in sex from their sex ed classes then from their boyfriends or girlfriends what a statement that’s 40%
[00:02:51] of kids saying when I took this sex ed class it actually made me feel more
[00:02:56] pressure to have sex then I would have gotten from my boyfriend or a girlfriend and my guest today is Dean Broyles he’s
[00:03:03] been on the show with me before I’ll give him a quick introduction he’s from the national center for law
[00:03:08] and policy he’s the president of the national center for law and policy he earned a Juris Doctorate degree from
[00:03:14] Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach Virginia he was mentored in law school in constitutional
[00:03:19] litigation by Jay Sekulow if you keep up with the Supreme Court and so forth you
[00:03:25] probably heard Jay Sekulow name at some point in time who is part of the American Center for Law and Justice and
[00:03:30] Deen is also an affiliate attorney of the Alliance defending freedom Dean thanks for being on the program today
[00:03:36] great to be with you Kevin thanks for having me yeah absolutely it’s and you’re right in the middle of all this
[00:03:42] here and I had you and Ashleigh beaver on the show a while back where we were talking about what was coming down the
[00:03:48] pike at the time I don’t believe it had been introduced into the schools yet but it was or maybe just introduced and
[00:03:54] parents were becoming alarmed because of some of the stuff that was coming out and what was being taught essentially a
[00:04:00] lot of stuff that was extreme like pornography the curriculum referred to certain sites that actually had
[00:04:07] pornographic information and all the rest of you want to give us an update on where things are from from that point
[00:04:13] till now sure so we were reaching out to the community trying to educate parents
[00:04:19] educate pastors and churches and get people and knowledgeable and involved because within five to 10 minutes of me
[00:04:27] sitting down with any person I can show them how bad the curriculum is and convinced them to sign our petition and
[00:04:35] fight it and so it’s a really a no-brainer but what we’re seeing is people just don’t know and they don’t
[00:04:42] know what’s in the curriculum they don’t know and you know maybe they’re busy maybe they don’t care maybe they don’t
[00:04:49] speak English if if they’re you know his bed don’t speak English very well but people just are not paying attention even after
[00:04:56] we got a lot of media attention and it was in the Union Tribune and it was all over the TV Evening News and they showed
[00:05:03] demonstrated that the district was in fact teaching kids to go to the internet
[00:05:09] and to go to pornography to learn about sex and actually had links to pornography in the curriculum even after
[00:05:14] we showed that I mean 20 years ago that might have been enough to force a school district to pull the program but we
[00:05:20] presented about 22,000 to 2,500 signatures on our petition to the board
[00:05:27] in July we we address them again the media was again there covering our case
[00:05:32] and showing the pornography that they were linked to and the district actually at that meeting district members board
[00:05:41] members and you know employees of the district acknowledged that there were porn links in the in the curriculum
[00:05:48] didn’t deny it said that they’d because of our protests delinked some of the
[00:05:54] porn temporarily but they said that they wanted to reintroduce those porn links
[00:05:59] in the future because they felt like they were helpful and one of the board members in fact whose I believe a
[00:06:05] psychiatrist or psychologist who should know better yeah should know that porn harms kids and it’s not good for sixth
[00:06:11] graders he said well you know kids have laptops kids have iPhones they’re going
[00:06:17] to see it anyway and so we’ve gone in a few short years from school districts
[00:06:23] trying to filter their computers and keep kids off porn at school to now them
[00:06:28] saying hey porn is great it’s a wonderful way to learn about sex Wow and that’s awful I I interviewed district
[00:06:35] attorney summer Stefon who is fighting human trafficking in San Diego if she actually told me that essentially
[00:06:41] pornography is a gateway drug into human trafficking and that because of the spread of porn human trafficking has
[00:06:46] become an increasingly more difficult problem to deal with yeah that’s
[00:06:51] absolutely correct and what drives me crazy I’m a parent I have three kids three teenagers ones in junior high and
[00:06:58] two in high school and what drives me crazy as a kid or as a parent of children is that here in San Diego
[00:07:04] County if you’ve been paying attention you know that we’re one of the top ten places for sex trafficking recruiting in the United
[00:07:11] States yeah yep hi Dan just talked about this with with Point Loma Nazarene University and they’re a program to try
[00:07:19] to fight human trafficking yeah that’s right and as summer pointed out and in our additional research has pointed out
[00:07:26] there was a direct link between porn exposure and pornography and sex
[00:07:33] trafficking and the fact that children are more likely to be abused or molested if they’ve seen pornography themselves
[00:07:40] and so there’s a direct link so why in the very school district where these sex
[00:07:45] traffickers are recruiting yep would we start teaching kids that porn is OK porn
[00:07:52] is great here’s the links to the porn that you should see in your sex ed class and make them vulnerable to these
[00:07:57] horrible outcomes I just think it’s insane and it’s really bad public policy yeah that’s unbelievable I I have a
[00:08:05] variety of interviews for those of you who are listening today if you want more information about that this you know I interviewed a gentleman from covenant
[00:08:13] eyes not too long ago who actually talks about his own porn addiction and what he went through to get out of pornography
[00:08:19] and how young he was when he got introduced into that and he’s talking about that this incredible struggle to
[00:08:24] get out of pornography and here we have the school district actually introducing
[00:08:29] kids to something that’s highly addictive and very dangerous that’s right and and and just is unbelievable
[00:08:36] that that’s happening and yet and what we see here from the article I just read from life news.com is that abstinence
[00:08:44] actually works it actually causes kids to go hey I don’t have to be pressured
[00:08:50] into sex I don’t have to have sex and I can have self-control you know and the
[00:08:55] advocates for youth program in San Diego Unified specifically is hyper sexualizing and over sexualizing and it
[00:09:02] promotes early involvement in sex you can’t read through the curriculum without even as an adult blushing and
[00:09:09] thinking that these are sixth graders who are going to be exposed to all this explicit material put the pornography
[00:09:15] aside for one minute the curriculum normalizes early sexual involvement and actually promotes it and
[00:09:22] even though under California law they’re supposed to promote abstinence and acknowledge abstinence and promote and
[00:09:29] support marriage the advocates for youth program that comes out of Washington DC doesn’t do that and that’s what they’re
[00:09:36] using in San Diego Unified Wow okay well we’re coming up on a real short break here we’re only gonna be on a break for
[00:09:42] maybe 10 or 15 seconds before we hop back in here or screaming live if you have comments or thoughts that you’d like to share please feel free to text
[00:09:49] us or to write a comment on the stream we’d love to hear your thoughts and
[00:09:54] we’re going to be talking about what we can do as citizens here in San Diego and
[00:10:00] as conscientious conservatives and Christians who who want to see kids
[00:10:05] protected and believe that by far the best way we can do this it’s not to keep them uneducated but it’s to educate them
[00:10:11] in a way that’s going to help them to make good godly decisions not lead them down a path that’s ultimately going to
[00:10:17] lead them into dangerous behavior addictive behavior and even in some cases abortion so we’re going to be
[00:10:23] right back stay with us
[00:10:39] you
[00:10:56] hey welcome back I hope you’ve enjoyed our program so far we’ve just finished the first segment I’m here with Dean Broyles from the national center for law
[00:11:04] and policy his website is n CLP law Oh our G and he has been very much involved
[00:11:10] in fighting for religious freedom defending people that defending people’s
[00:11:15] conscience the religious right to live by their conscience and Dean before we hop back into the whole sex education
[00:11:22] curriculum area tell us a little bit about how you got involved in this and some of the other legal issues that
[00:11:28] you’ve been involved with I know you are arguing or participating in cases that are at the Supreme Court level yeah
[00:11:35] that’s right this term there’s two cases were involved with the first you’re probably
[00:11:41] very familiar with this which is a masterpiece cake shop case and we felt an amicus brief in that case and I had
[00:11:48] the blessing of being in the courtroom after US Supreme Court for oral arguments on December 5th and that was
[00:11:55] an amazing case and very important compelled speech case tell rod implications for our listeners who
[00:12:00] aren’t aware of what what happened there give a little background to what happened with a masterpiece cake Supreme
[00:12:06] Court case sure Jack Phillips is a Colorado Baker who was asked to bake a
[00:12:12] cake a wedding cake for a same-sex wedding celebration ceremony and he
[00:12:18] declined because of his faith he didn’t want to participate and contribute his artistic abilities to celebrating
[00:12:24] something that went against his personal faith and so he declined and was brought it before the caliph the Colorado Human
[00:12:31] Rights Civil Rights Commission and was found to have violated the law and was
[00:12:37] told that he had to bake cakes in the future for same-sex weddings and retrain
[00:12:42] his staff because their their worldview their thinking was wrong on the topic yeah very Orwellian yeah and that regard
[00:12:48] sounds like something out of a science fiction magazine or something yeah as a result he decided not to bake cakes
[00:12:53] anymore lost 40% of his business let had to layoff friends and family members from the business and has really
[00:13:00] suffered for taking a stand for his faith and so that case even though it
[00:13:05] deals with a wedding vendor and it’s not limited that the ruling is not
[00:13:11] limited to that in the sense that if the government can force Jack Phillips to
[00:13:16] use his art to participate in the same-sex wedding that the government can essentially compel us to do almost
[00:13:23] anything oh yeah and I interviewed a woman from Canada who was testifying on
[00:13:29] the issue of homosexual parenting her father was a homosexual who had raised
[00:13:34] her and and that she told me that in Canada she actually wouldn’t have been able to have this discussion with me on
[00:13:40] the radio because in Canada they’ve made it illegal to be able to even discuss the issue which is alarming that we
[00:13:47] would lose those kind of rights but that’s that’s the path we’re going down that’s right the other case is nifflas
[00:13:53] IRS’s Becerra and that’s a local case actually we’re representing two pregnancy care centers one in East
[00:14:00] County and one in Fallbrook and that’s that’s a situation where California a
[00:14:06] couple years back passed in 2015 passed a B 775 which forced pro-life pregnancy
[00:14:13] care centers to advertise for abortion or refer women for abortions as soon as
[00:14:18] they walk in the door of their building yeah that is so bizarre right okay I’m walking in to get help from my child
[00:14:24] here and and here here’s some information about how to go get an abortion the clinic is doing the exact opposite
[00:14:32] of what their mission is that they’ve been called to do yeah so we’re representing the the Centers and NIF
[00:14:38] flow which is a national organization umbrella organization for pro-life pregnancy care centers and at the
[00:14:45] Supreme Court and our merits brief was filed last a couple weeks back and
[00:14:50] there’s a lot of amicus briefs and the pro-life community coming in supporting our position and oral arguments will we
[00:14:57] expect to have have those in March that’s again another compelled speech case so I get I gave a briefing for a
[00:15:03] worldview group on Saturday morning and the topic was compelled speech at the Supreme Court and I was talking about
[00:15:08] both those cases and and not only does that have have a have a free speech
[00:15:13] angle but it really is a pro-life angle because what they’re trying to do the other side Planned Parenthood
[00:15:20] and NAMBLA dam blah but um oh gosh I’m figure getting the nay RAL here in
[00:15:26] California is trying to do is really silence and shut down pro-life pregnancy care centers and if they’re effective in
[00:15:32] doing that we’re gonna lose a lot more babies in California yeah and they’re not looking for a fair are fair discussion they’re not looking for an
[00:15:38] argument back and forth they’re looking for hey we just don’t want you to say anything we don’t want you to even have a voice yeah and in this case you know
[00:15:46] they’re saying to them we the government supports abortion so therefore the government wants to
[00:15:52] force you to express the government’s position on abortion and we want you to
[00:15:57] refer women for free or low-cost abortion at this telephone number and it has to be in big bold font as soon as
[00:16:03] they walk in the door yeah and their viewpoint seems to be whatever the government government endorses is what
[00:16:08] you have to endorse also that’s right yeah this happened with a Kelvin Cochran case to where he had written a book a
[00:16:15] personal devotional book for men and in it there was one sentence on the issue of homosexuality and his boss told him
[00:16:20] look at when you come to work he was working for the fire department right he was a fire chief I believe and when he
[00:16:27] is his uh one of the guys there said when you come to work you leave your beliefs at the
[00:16:33] door essentially which is absurd constitutionally you know so my guest
[00:16:39] today is Dean Broyles please check him out at NC LP law or gets the National
[00:16:44] Center for Law and Policy he works closely with the Alliance defending freedom and what we’re talking about
[00:16:50] today is specifically what’s going on with sex education in the San Diego Unified School District but this is
[00:16:56] something that’s countrywide you know these attempts to essentially be more
[00:17:03] aggressive sexually and this is a this is a push in the whole culture it’s where is this coming from Dean and I
[00:17:10] talked briefly off the air about SP forty eight and the whole idea of you
[00:17:15] can choose what gender you are you know marriage is something that’s kind of a
[00:17:22] traditional social agreement that’s kind of passe it’s not necessarily something
[00:17:27] that people need to have and it’s kind of pushing the Judeo Christian morals
[00:17:32] out what’s that what the attempt is here so where is where is this how does the
[00:17:38] sex-education push to legitimize pornography and so far how does that fit in with SB 40 a and all these other
[00:17:45] movements that are kind of coming together aggressively against judeo-christian morals yeah so you know
[00:17:52] we’re asking where it’s coming from and who’s pushing this agenda generally it’s
[00:17:58] radical leftist and the progressive movement that really seeks to bring
[00:18:03] progress beyond or move beyond judeo-christian traditions in America
[00:18:09] including how we view sexuality and let’s take for instance issue of maleness and femaleness you know you
[00:18:16] raise the issue of transgenderism well the Bible teaches in Genesis 1:27 that
[00:18:21] God created us in His image male and female yeah so we’re created in the Amagi O’Dea male and female and that
[00:18:28] means that there’s implications from that for human sexual relations and for
[00:18:33] marriage and so the radicals in in in
[00:18:39] the radical elite want to do away with the replace because they believe that’s antiquated and inevitable to the world
[00:18:47] today and it’s really if you’re asking who’s funding this and supporting this it’s George Soros you if you’ve been
[00:18:53] watching the media lately you can see that he donated 18 billion to these radical leftist causes one of the
[00:19:00] biggest things he’s funding right now is comprehensive sex education nationwide and worldwide he wants sex ed to be
[00:19:08] started start to be begun in kindergarten in pre-k I mean that his
[00:19:14] idea of sex education is that we should really sexually awakened and
[00:19:20] over-sexualize kids starting at a very young age and why is that I mean why would anybody want to do that and
[00:19:26] knowing what we know about the damaging effects the impact of sexual abuse and these sorts of things can do to a child
[00:19:32] why why do that why I mean there’s I think there’s spiritual reasons why it’s
[00:19:37] happening because I believe in spiritual warfare but there’s also kind of political social reasons to do it I mean
[00:19:44] the fastest way to deconstruct the conservative movement is to train
[00:19:49] the next generation that there is no God and there are no morals right father
[00:19:55] just dust gets key said in the brothers camera cameras off if God is dead then everything is
[00:20:01] permitted right yeah and so their idea is if they want ultimate freedom which
[00:20:07] which is not freedom its license it’s sexual license and that’s an interesting
[00:20:12] point you’re bringing there what’s the difference between license and freedom that’s know we’re coming up on a real quick break here we’re gonna take a
[00:20:18] break for about 10 seconds or so 10-15 seconds just so Dina and I can catch our breath but when we come back we’re gonna
[00:20:23] talk about the difference between license and freedom or licentiousness and freedom we’re gonna be right back
[00:20:38] you
[00:21:07] welcome back to educate for life I’m your host Kevin Conover my web sites educate for life dot o-r-g you can pick
[00:21:14] up a recording of this show it’ll be up on YouTube the recording there’s also recordings of tons of other shows you know the subject I’m talking
[00:21:21] about with Dean today is a subject that has been ongoing I mean historically you can you can follow the Domino path right
[00:21:29] and see how all these changes have taken place it’s it didn’t start with
[00:21:35] redefining marriage but that was a big part in what’s happening and now we have you know where people can redefine their
[00:21:41] gender at will a kid can use a high school locker room of the opposite sex a
[00:21:49] friend of mine I interviewed not too long ago was actually fired because he would not call a boy a girl a boy who
[00:21:55] wanted to be called a boy and the school was mandating that he called this girl a boy and her parents didn’t even know
[00:22:03] that’s what’s incredible about it he or she is a miner and the school said you are not allowed to tell her parents that
[00:22:10] she wants to be caught a boy and there’s all kinds of stuff like this going on I interviewed not too long ago Denise
[00:22:15] Schick you can check out the interview I did with her she was raised by a chant transgender father and you know I asked
[00:22:21] her I said to her I said Denise if somebody said to you big deal if
[00:22:27] somebody wants to be the opposite sex who cares what would you say to them and she told me I believe it’s around 40% of
[00:22:35] those who have had a sex change operation actually try to commit suicide and I believe it’s around 30% actually
[00:22:41] achieve that and Dean that’s the same stat that you’ve heard also that’s right yeah I mean if you look at the results
[00:22:49] of transgender sex reassignment surgery horrific and that’s why John Hopkins University who did first did sex
[00:22:56] reassignment years ago stopped doing it for over 30 years because the results were so horrible and one of the top
[00:23:02] psychiatrist in the u.s. dr. Paul McHugh you probably heard about him a write about his work yeah he’s come out very strongly against
[00:23:10] transgenderism and he says to teach transgenderism to children and doctrine
[00:23:16] Aidan that it’s okay it’s a morally good thing he calls it child abuse oh and a lot of
[00:23:22] pediatricians agree with him yeah because event essentially what you’re doing is you’re actually hurting the child you’re not helping the child
[00:23:28] you’re you’re actually working against them and I actually had a quote here
[00:23:33] that I was going to read which is specifically that dr. McHugh it says
[00:23:40] here given that close to 80 percent of such children would abandon their confusion and grow naturally into a adult life if untreated these medical
[00:23:47] interviewed interventions come close to child abuse so essentially what he’s saying is you know sometimes a boy will dress up like
[00:23:54] a girl or a girl will dress up like a boy but these things naturally work themselves out over this room that’s
[00:24:01] right yeah and so by telling them that okay then you’re a girl or you’re a boy because just because you you know dress
[00:24:08] this way of a few times or or whatever you’re even acting more feminine or more masculine doesn’t automatically mean oh
[00:24:14] okay I’m the opposite sex now well you heard what happened in Rockland probably with the kindergarten class up there or
[00:24:21] they brought out a little boy in a dress read a few stories about transgender promoting transgenderism to kindergarten
[00:24:27] kids without their parents knowledge or consent then brought out this boy introduced his new name and later on
[00:24:33] they punished a girl in the playground because she used the wrong name in the wrong pronoun because the boy wanted to
[00:24:40] be a girl and a lot of children are coming home from these classes you know
[00:24:46] terrified that they may be a boy trapped in a girl’s body or a girl trapped in a
[00:24:51] boy’s body and they don’t even understand their own sexuality yet and yet they’re being confused about gender very early on and
[00:24:59] it’s it’s it’s a horrific thing that’s happening to kids now yeah I yeah I read
[00:25:04] the same thing about a woman in teacher in Texas who this was happening and she was trying to follow the school’s instructions and essentially there was a
[00:25:11] little girl who said I’m a boy and she said okay all the class has to call this girl a boy and then the next day the
[00:25:18] girl goes no I’m a girl and the kids are like whoa what’s happening are you oh you’re a girl are you a boy or a girl
[00:25:24] I mean imagine the confusion that’s right and then you get into talking about things like sexuality or sex
[00:25:30] education and you’re gonna have even incredible amounts of confusion and ultimately I
[00:25:36] mean where does this take you I mean you know you if you become just a moral
[00:25:42] relativist when it comes to your sexual morals I mean you’re gonna end up with all kinds of problems regarding STDs and
[00:25:49] pregnancy and everything else well the California School Board associations and others are starting to put out policies
[00:25:55] that would if adopted by school districts in California this happened in Coronado recently I helped esther valdez
[00:26:02] fight this there or they were going to start punishing teachers and students for using the wrong pronouns you know
[00:26:09] supposedly the wrong pronouns for people who considered themselves transgender well you think step back from that and
[00:26:16] look at it from a First Amendment perspective to force you to say
[00:26:21] something about someone else that’s biologically and physically not true is
[00:26:26] that not a violation of your free speech rights as a teacher or as a student in that classroom yeah I mean it is it’s
[00:26:32] compelled government speech was exactly what we’re fighting and the masterpiece cake shop case and the nifflas thing so
[00:26:39] this this whole push is insane yeah and what’s really you know what it reminds me of is you know there’s this whole big
[00:26:44] thing going on right now with the Flat Earth thing it’s all over the internet it’s crazy imagine if a if a science professor
[00:26:51] write whatever cosmology or whatever was told you must teach that the earth is
[00:26:58] flat I mean there would flip up flip out it’s in direct contradiction to everything we know about science and and
[00:27:04] everything right the world and everything but yet essentially that’s what we’re doing we’re telling people you must pretty much live in my lie
[00:27:13] right that’s right you will call them a boy even though they’re obviously a girl
[00:27:19] and we will all pretend together for this person that they are the opposite
[00:27:25] sex well that’s if you read George Orwell’s 1984 that’s exactly what the Ministry of
[00:27:31] Truth does is they called they call things the opposite of what they are
[00:27:37] right that’s precisely what’s happening here and it’s being forced on all of us and we’re all kind of
[00:27:44] an emperor is you know is wearing no clothes it type scenario we’re all saying yes it’s a boy or no it’s a girl
[00:27:51] that we’re all agreeing with this insanity yeah and we’ve got to fight it and push back because if you think about
[00:27:58] it just stepping back from the legal and public policy implications for a minute just think about practically if we end
[00:28:05] the sexual binary the gender binary in other words meant we end maleness and femaleness and wipe it out as a category
[00:28:12] that has broad and far-reaching implications across the board not just for public education but well beyond
[00:28:17] education so think about a whole generation went raised on the lie that boys can be whatever they want to be and
[00:28:25] girls can be whatever they want to be and there really is no gender it’s all what you in your brain and what your
[00:28:30] thoughts are and what your feelings are I mean the cultural insanity and dysfunction that that will lead to I
[00:28:36] mean I don’t think we can even imagine how bad it will be and so if grandparents love their kids
[00:28:43] if pastors love kids if parents love kids we’ve got to draw a red line in the
[00:28:48] sand and say stop the insanity yeah you will not pass this line and what are you what are you what is the
[00:28:55] feedback you’re getting I mean when you approach churches and so forth are you finding that the majority of people that
[00:29:00] hear about this are like yeah I agree with you of course well early on we
[00:29:07] didn’t get a lot of help and we sent out letters to hundreds of evangelical pastors throughout San Diego County and
[00:29:13] only one or two stepped up to help and it was really discouraging and disappointing recently though we’ve been reaching out
[00:29:20] to the african-american pastors we’ve been reaching out to the Chinese pastors we’ve been reaching out to the Latino
[00:29:25] pastors and any pastor who will talk to us and like I said earlier within 5 to
[00:29:31] 10 minutes of sitting down and walking through the problems of the curriculum they they’re ready to storm the gates of
[00:29:37] hell they’re mad and they’re ready to sign the petition get everybody to sign the petition and show up at board
[00:29:44] meetings and complain and that’s what we’re moving towards that’s fantastic so where explain to us where well we’re
[00:29:49] actually coming up on another quick break here so please stay with us Dina’s going to tell us you know where they are
[00:29:54] in this current fight how many people have signed the is currently and what do we need to do
[00:29:59] in order to get pornography out of the sex education curriculum what do we need to do to get the idea that part of
[00:30:07] contraception is just having an abortion so we’re going to be right back and Dean
[00:30:14] is going to share with us what how you can get involved and how you can make a difference we’ll be right back
[00:30:24] you
[00:31:41] welcome back thanks for being here today is actually Monday here and it’s 442 in
[00:31:48] the studio here we’re down in the K prz studio and nice and cold in here like
[00:31:55] usual so huh but Dean is with me Dean Broyles from the National Center for Law
[00:32:01] and Policy n CLP law org and for the first time we are actually streaming the
[00:32:07] show this is the first time I’ve ever done this so Dean you are the you are the guinea pig here whether you like it
[00:32:12] or not but it’s going good we’ve got these cameras here pointing at us and Jordans running everything so quick
[00:32:19] shout out to Jordan for putting this all together couldn’t have done it without them and if you want to support this
[00:32:25] radio program I would love your support it costs a decent amount of money to stream it live but we really want to
[00:32:30] make a bigger impact we want to have people like Dean on the air who we get who get to share what’s going on out in
[00:32:36] the community to a broader audience so that we can kind of pull together and as the body of Christ make a difference in
[00:32:42] this world you know the church Christ ordained the church because together you
[00:32:48] can have a far greater impact then you can all fight in your little battles out on your own and that’s what the church
[00:32:54] is for and so it’s for encouragement and also to be a brighter light out there
[00:33:00] and what we’re talking about today if you’re just tuning in is the sex ed curriculum in the San Diego Unified
[00:33:06] School District it is out of control and Dean when we’re going to tell people
[00:33:11] what they can do but can you share a little bit more about what’s being pushed in the curriculum that people
[00:33:17] should be aware of sure we’ve talked about pornography and you know what was
[00:33:24] shown before was an amazing linked cartoon porn about Julie Julie
[00:33:31] melons and miles long and I won’t go into a lot of details about that but it’s pretty explicit graphic cartoon
[00:33:36] porn that links to other foreign I mentioned earlier that it’s not age-appropriate it’s over sexualizing
[00:33:43] young kids the program that we have starting in San Diego Unified in sixth
[00:33:48] grade they’re actually teaching the same program in Oceanside and they want to start it
[00:33:53] in kindergarten but after parents protested they decided well we’re gonna start in third grade so that’s a lot better this is yeah this is the
[00:34:00] direction we’re heading is hyper sexualizing over sexualizing and children it’s dehumanizing because it
[00:34:07] encourages kids to primarily see each other as sex objects for personal pleasure and sexual gratification and as
[00:34:15] opposed to in the amalga day in the image of God is beautiful unique and valuable human beings it’s very graphic
[00:34:22] and promotes taboo sex there’s detailed descriptions and vaginal oral and anal
[00:34:29] sex and a number of other things I won’t go into detail here it’s gender blurring as we’ve talked about it promotes
[00:34:35] actively promotes transgenderism is normal and healthy when we know that it’s not and just Minh doing so as I
[00:34:45] mentioned earlier it attacks maleness and female and it’s the gender binary from Genesis 1:21 27 it violates the
[00:34:53] freedom of speech and compelled speech as I mentioned it promotes abortion as you mentioned in the intro because it
[00:34:59] tells kids that hey abortion is a very natural normal thing to do if you have an unwanted or an unintended pregnancy
[00:35:06] and kids are told in our schools that they have the right to go off campus and get abortions at Planned Parenthood and
[00:35:12] other places without their parents knowledge or consent and I just want to mention that that’s not true districts
[00:35:20] can have a policy that notifies parents and obtains their consent before abortions are occurring but Planned
[00:35:26] Parenthood and the ACLU have lied to a lot of school districts San Diego used to have a good policy but they reversed
[00:35:32] it several years ago it’s anti marriage as I mentioned earlier because it separates marriage from sex and says hey
[00:35:40] you can be having sex all you want in in all these dangerous ways it’s it’s
[00:35:45] perfectly normal and fine and so it undermines sexual purity and abstinence which I believe that with pornography
[00:35:53] will lead to the increased breakdown of the family and I believe this is potentially civilization ending stuff if
[00:36:00] we don’t get a handle on it yeah and I it’s interesting that you bring that up because there was a Harvard researcher who who studied the
[00:36:08] breakdown of civilizations and essentially what he found was that the precursor to the breakdown of a civilization almost a hundred percent of
[00:36:15] the time was sexual promiscuity on a on a huge scale and that’s what we’re
[00:36:21] seeing is we’re seeing a culture that is making sex everything right it’s driving
[00:36:27] everything we have multi-billion dollar companies getting their money through
[00:36:32] pornography promoting pornography it’s creating human trafficking you have huge problems with abortion because of that
[00:36:38] and then you have the breakdown of the family all of this leads to the breakdown of a culture that’s right and
[00:36:43] if you read the rise and fall of the Roman civilization you will see that I mean if you look at history you can see
[00:36:48] that over and over again and it’s almost like we think oh now we’re in the 20th century we can we can overcome you know
[00:36:55] natural law and the allottee yeah that’s baked into the universe finally it’s just it’s blatantly
[00:37:02] anti-christian it teaches kids that religious resources about sex like their pastor youth pastor Christian parents or
[00:37:09] other religious parents those resources are biased and unreliable right and it
[00:37:15] uses those terms biased and and it calls them unreliable well all these secular resources like you know George Soros
[00:37:22] funded stuff Planned Parenthood a cou advocates for youth those are reliable
[00:37:28] yeah and so a lot of what they’re trying to do is wrap themselves in science and
[00:37:33] and say oh we’re the ones giving the facts and the good information everybody
[00:37:38] else you know especially you Christians you crazy Christians you’re giving bad
[00:37:44] information to your kids and you’re misleading yeah but in fact all the social science data is actually on our side that’s right by far I mean the
[00:37:53] family is what keeps a society healthy and as soon as that family begins to break down which all these these
[00:37:59] attempts this is what they’re doing they’re breaking down the family you’re creating teen pregnancy you’re getting
[00:38:04] girls pregnant at a young age teen pregnancy is the number one predictor of poverty so you have all these problems
[00:38:11] that are being created and it’s almost as if they’re just shoving all the social science to the side and saying no
[00:38:16] we don’t believe that anymore yeah the message they’re giving the kids is do whatever you want with whomever
[00:38:22] you want and ignore the consequences put blinders on to the consequences so in
[00:38:27] that regard these these sex edge programs are not fact-based right
[00:38:32] because they’re not telling kids about the consequences of anal sex for example yeah well you know they supposedly talk
[00:38:39] about HIV but but but the way they do it is very weak and very irresponsible and
[00:38:45] and you know I always throw this stat out there because I feel like people just need to be made aware you know 6-3
[00:38:50] % of all new HIV AIDS cases are among male homosexuals and people say well there you just need better sex education
[00:38:57] no this is not true there’s something inherent to the issue of homosexuality
[00:39:02] 64 percent of all new syphilis cases are among male homosexuals there’s a reason
[00:39:08] why the Bible says don’t engage in this behavior it’s because God loves people God wants people to be blessed and so
[00:39:14] he’s given us these laws the Bible says those who obey my commands will live by
[00:39:20] them what it’s saying is hey you will be blessed when you live by the standards of outlined I love you I’ve given this
[00:39:25] to you for your benefit so Dean what what can they do I see here down here says please do three things what do
[00:39:31] people need to do here okay well first of all we want them to become informed and so if you want information for your
[00:39:39] church or for your community or for your organization please contact us at the
[00:39:44] National Center for Law and Policy asked for sherry and sherry my assistant will email you and forward you all this
[00:39:50] information so we’ve developed a one-page fact sheet that quickly explains the problems with the
[00:39:56] curriculum we have links to the curriculum don’t believe us read it yourself and then and then we also have
[00:40:03] a church bulletin insert that pastors and churches can use to talk about the issue from the pulpit and so we’re
[00:40:09] specifically asking churches in particular can form their congregation to get the word out for us to ask their
[00:40:16] congregational members to sign the paper petition or they can go to SD u SD on on
[00:40:24] change.org and find our online petition which is also in Spanish and sign sign
[00:40:29] the petition either in paper their church or online and ultimately we want to have a massive resistance up out
[00:40:36] and we’re going to present the petitions on our target date is February 27th at
[00:40:42] the board meeting to talk to them about this issue okay that’s great well we’re coming up on another break here we have
[00:40:48] I do want to talk a little bit more about some of the issues going on within the church and why churches aren’t as
[00:40:54] involved as they could be and please if you if you this is touching your heart please get involved get angry you know
[00:41:01] don’t don’t send in your anger but get angry and you know get out there and start spreading the word they need
[00:41:07] 25,000 signatures by February 15th so that’s not too far away we need your
[00:41:13] help to make this happen we’re going to be right back
[00:41:23] you
[00:43:12] okay thanks for being here thanks for coming back to the show we’re on our last segment I’m your host Kevin Conover
[00:43:18] and the show is educate for life my web sites educate for life dot o-r-g I also have 40 online classes that cover all
[00:43:25] this kind of material but really put it into a comprehensive package so that you can have all the pieces of the puzzle of
[00:43:32] a Christian worldview if you feel like you struggle to answer some of your friends questions or the things that
[00:43:37] they bring up or why the Bible is true or how we know God is real or what about all the other religions in the world and
[00:43:43] all these different questions that come up if you struggle with that it’s a great way to get informed and educated
[00:43:49] and it’s also a resource you have at your fingertips it’s on video it’s and you have it for lifetime access so it’s
[00:43:55] a great resource if you haven’t heard all this show this show will be up on YouTube and it’s also going to be
[00:44:01] podcast you can check out all other kinds of shows that I’ve had in the past all kinds of amazing interviews with
[00:44:08] people who have had trans transformed lives by Jesus Christ and are now
[00:44:13] serving the Lord all over the world in different capacities my guest today is Dean Broyles he’s with the National
[00:44:19] Center for law on policy NC LP law Oh our G and also Dean on the sheet right
[00:44:29] here you’re looking to have people sign this petition hopefully 25,000 signatures by February
[00:44:34] 15th and you want to present that on February 27th is that what you said that’s right okay and that these are so
[00:44:42] if they want to get a hold of you they can contact sherry seven six zero seven
[00:44:47] four seven four five to nine or seawalker at NC L P Law o RG & Dean when
[00:44:55] we were when we were talking off the air a little bit you were talking about how sometimes it’s a struggle to get
[00:45:00] churches to get involved and so forth and you’re explaining to me you know what’s going on there can you share a
[00:45:06] little bit about that yeah I mean one of the biggest frustrations in my work is that the church in general has become
[00:45:14] kind of pacified and disengaged and not willing to fight what’s right and
[00:45:22] this issue of protecting kids from harm and this level of harm I think is so important that my view is if this
[00:45:29] doesn’t wake up the church and get us involved nothing will yeah and so like you said
[00:45:36] earlier when the church works together like on prop 8 for example we have
[00:45:42] tremendous power and we can accomplish tremendous things yeah but if we if we’re too busy or too lazy
[00:45:49] or too afraid or don’t have enough love because I think a lot of the lack of
[00:45:55] involvement I really can’t understand is not just a fear of man or fear of other
[00:46:00] people it’s also a lack of love we don’t love other people enough to share the
[00:46:05] gospel with them anymore we don’t love other people enough to speak out against injustice yeah it’s gonna even affect
[00:46:12] our kids or grandkids so we need to become bold and courageous and allow our
[00:46:18] love to overcome our fear absolutely and so with would pastors in specific pacifically though you know the initial
[00:46:27] response that pleas for help were really we were ignored I mean these these were
[00:46:32] letters that were sent out to all evangelical pastors throughout San Diego County through the pastor’s rapid
[00:46:38] response team that worked with my friend Jim Garland sent out two letters and nobody almost nobody responded and it
[00:46:45] broke my heart but part of my my thought as to why that is and I’ve talked to
[00:46:50] Josh McDowell about this because he’s been doing a lot of writing and speaking about pornography yes–if Utley yeah is
[00:46:56] that if you look at the stats nearly 80% of Christian men in our pews are porn
[00:47:03] addicted and and and most of the pastors are so probably roughly 60% or more the
[00:47:09] pastor’s are porn addicted to yeah so I am reaching out to porn addicted pastors asking them to fight pornography that’ll
[00:47:18] be influencing these kids lives and part of the reason I think we’re not getting a bigger response there’s a lot of them
[00:47:24] are morally and compromised themselves and it’s breaks my heart but but even
[00:47:29] even porn addicted pastors can fight porn to protect kids I mean it you don’t have to be a perfect night
[00:47:35] armor to fight this stuff it’s a no-brainer folks yeah that’s right you know and that’s the thing too is that you know that’s the way the devil works
[00:47:42] you know what he does is he gets in there and he says look it you’re not worth who are you to fight against
[00:47:48] something that you yourself are struggling with and so he just wants to shut Christians down he wants them to be
[00:47:54] out of the picture and that’s what he’s doing he’s killing the church from the inside through guilt and shame and all
[00:48:01] these things and I just want to bring up a great resource it’s called the conquer series if you if you have not checked it
[00:48:07] out it’s absolutely phenomenal it’s one of the best resources out there that I’ve seen also a great thing for your
[00:48:14] computers at home is covenant eyes both covenant eyes and the conquer series are just incredible weapons and what’s
[00:48:20] happening is a lot of Christians are waking up to the to the horrible plague of pornography in our culture today and
[00:48:27] they’re beginning to fight back and there are even people that are secular that are outside of the church that are
[00:48:32] recognizing just how incredibly addicting and devastating pornography is
[00:48:38] to relationships so you know we need to just push forward and go Lord work work
[00:48:45] here go and go back and be on our knees in prayer and ask the Lord to stir our hearts to love people more like Dena’s
[00:48:51] saying so that’s that’s fantastic and where are you in the current court cases
[00:48:57] we’re almost out of time here but where are you in the current court cases with Jack Phillips the the the Baker and also
[00:49:05] the other one that has to do with the Pregnancy Care Centers you know so Jack Phillips oral arguments before the court
[00:49:11] were on December 5th and we’re expecting a decision on her before the end of June okay in prayer about that also yeah be
[00:49:18] praying especially for Justice Kennedy he was very sympathetic to Jack Phillips and I wrote a article about that as far
[00:49:25] as nifflas that’s a big prayer project to oral arguments will probably be sometime in
[00:49:31] March or April at the latest and we’re expecting again a decision dollar before the end of June that’s great okay well
[00:49:38] Dean it’s been a real blessing having you on the program today and SP 48 real
[00:49:44] quick before we get off the air explain SB 48 and and your on that real quick teens sure just real
[00:49:50] quick because it’s rolling out statewide SB 48 is the what’s known as a gay hero
[00:49:58] history law that in 2011 passed and it basically says that history and social
[00:50:05] science courses need to recognize the contributions of various groups including LGBT individuals well what’s
[00:50:11] happened with that is is a pretty radical thing those promoting radical sexual Liberty got a hold of the law and
[00:50:18] got together with the state of California and developed this framework this evil evil framework that that takes
[00:50:27] where we are today with same-sex marriage and says oh now that we got same-sex marriage your
[00:50:33] Supreme Court we want to in California use this as a transformational moment to
[00:50:39] now promote all these other things including transgenderism not just in sex
[00:50:45] ed but throughout the curriculum and including its history in social science so the law is is about about a 5 on the
[00:50:52] scale 1 to 10 but the actual framework is horrible and the textbooks that were developed just recently out of it are
[00:50:58] horrible but you can fight it and we’ve got a legal memorandum opinion and talking points on our website at NC LP
[00:51:05] law Oregon our resources page please read those check those out because each school district can resist the framework
[00:51:12] and can resist the textbooks and not and doesn’t have to adopt them they’ve been lied to and told they have to follow the
[00:51:18] framework but they don’t when in fact it’s not mandatory that’s right that’s great okay Dean Broyles National Center for
[00:51:23] Law and Policy we are lucky to have him here he’s in Southern California and San Diego here and he’s a great resource if
[00:51:29] you yourself need information about you know what’s allowed legally and so forth that are or how to fight something
[00:51:35] that’s unjust please reach out to him he’s a blessing to us so thank you again
[00:51:41] Dean for being here today great to be with you thank you okay we’ll be back again next Saturday I am gonna be entering interviewing bill
[00:51:47] wells mayor of El Cajon we’re gonna be talking about some of the issues he’s dealing with so I hope you’ll join us
[00:51:52] next time thanks for being here I hope you enjoyed the live stream and we’ll continue to improve that shout out
[00:51:59] again to jordan kirk Kirkham right Jordan he’s busy recording so we’ll talk to you
[00:52:05] next time god bless you have a great day
[00:52:15] you
