How Cindi’s Hope is Changing the World — Dr. Cindi Mendoza on Rescue, Education, and Gospel Impact

Christian education isn’t just about academics—it’s about forming a biblical worldview that transforms lives. In this episode of The Educate for Life Podcast, Kevin Conover talks with Dr. Cindi Mendoza, founder of Cindi’s Hope, about rescuing vulnerable children, discipling them in Christ, and building schools that bring hope where it’s needed most. If you care about Christian apologetics, creation science, and homeschool curriculum that equips kids to live courageously, this story will stir your heart.

From Rescue to Renewal: Meet Dr. Cindi Mendoza

Dr. Cindi Mendoza is a Christian educator and ministry leader serving in East Africa, where Cindi’s Hope operates schools and residential programs that protect at-risk girls and boys from trafficking, abuse, and extreme poverty. Her work blends rigorous learning, character formation, and daily discipleship, demonstrating how faith and science together can cultivate wisdom, compassion, and practical skills.

At the center of this conversation is a vital question: How does a Christ-centered education break cycles of despair? Dr. Mendoza shows how small class sizes, Scripture memory, and caring teachers create environments where children discover their God-given dignity and purpose. For Christian parents, pastors, and teachers, her story offers a living model of biblical worldview education in action—one that inspires both local ministry and global mission.

The episode also touches on apologetic relevance: when critics claim religion “does more harm than good,” ministries like Cindi’s Hope offer a clear, measurable rebuttal—tangible mercy and measurable outcomes rooted in the gospel. This is Christian parenting and education that doesn’t stay in the classroom; it changes communities.

Key Takeaways

  • Why Christian education rescues twice (body and soul) — from safety to salvation, and from literacy to leadership.
  • Smaller ratios, stronger outcomes — how 16:1 classrooms and daily discipleship accelerate learning and spiritual growth.
  • Hope beyond headlines — a biblical worldview answers suffering with presence, prayer, and practical service.
  • From skeptic to servant — how God transformed Cindi’s life and called her to build schools that reflect Christ’s love.
  • How your family can help — prayer, giving, and short-term teams that bless students and strengthen local churches.

Cindi’s Hope is a Christian ministry working in Africa to rescue children from human trafficking. They rescue orphans from war-torn countries including Rwanda, Uganda, and Sudan. The ministry provides these children with safety, housing, and quality education.

Today, Cindi’s Hope provides a quality Christian education, nutritious meals, love, and encouragement to nearly 200 children in 2 different centers in Kenya and our Primary School in Rwanda. Cindi’s Hope is active and growing in many different communities. Children, families, and entire communities are being transformed through continuing education and Christ’s love.

While the children are first rescued from their situations by the Kenyan government, they do not offer assistance or resources to Cindi’s Hope.  Free education is offered at the Cindi’s Hope Primary schools.  Therefore funding must come from outside sources.  Help Cindi to provide much-needed food, clothing, and infrastructure for the Cindi’s Hope Academys.

Dr. Cindi Mendoza: “God doesn’t just want our hearts—He wants our hands, feet, mind, and mouth. When we say, ‘Yes, Lord,’ He opens doors we could never imagine.”
Kevin Conover: “Why build schools?”
Dr. Cindi Mendoza: “Because Christian education is the vehicle that brings boys and girls into the saving knowledge of Jesus—and equips them to serve their nation.”

[00:00:00] 9/7 19 and now here’s your host Kevin Conover bring your time

[00:00:06] welcome to educate for life I’m your host Kevin Conover and my website is educate for life gorg I’m here in

[00:00:11] Southern California on Cape Rays radio we are airing on FM 106.1 in North

[00:00:17] County as well as AM 12:10 here in San Diego and I have some an exciting guest

[00:00:24] on the program today the the stuff that’s happening is incredible you know I’m an apologist and what that

[00:00:30] means is I defend a biblical worldview I defended my job I I school I teach high

[00:00:36] school students how to know the truth of Christianity and then how to defend it and one of the things that comes up

[00:00:41] frequently whenever I’m you know talking with skeptics or maybe atheists or

[00:00:47] agnostics who say you know I’m not really interested in religion because I feel that religion does more harm than

[00:00:52] good in the world and you know this is something that comes up very frequently and I have a guest today on the radio

[00:00:59] who is and and I think there are many people that are doing incredible things to help people around the world but this

[00:01:06] ministry that I’m going to be talking about today is doing something that’s just phenomenal in rescuing people you

[00:01:14] may or may not know that human trafficking is a huge problem in the world today there are in fact more

[00:01:19] slaves in the world today than ever before in world history according to the stats on human trafficking and one of

[00:01:25] the big places this is happening in the world is in Kenya as well as Rwanda this

[00:01:31] year does mark the 25th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide you’re probably familiar with that there was a movie

[00:01:37] made about it an estimated 800,000 Tutsis and politically moderate Hutu were killed in just a hundred days in

[00:01:44] 1994 and thousands more were subjected to sexual violence and tortured in a

[00:01:49] system at systemic campaign by the Hutu ethnic majority my guest today is dr.

[00:01:54] Cindy Mendoza and her Ministry of Cyndi’s hope org you can check it out on the web Cindy’s – hope org is reaching

[00:02:04] out and rescuing orphan girls out of human trafficking dr. Mendoza thanks for

[00:02:09] being on the program today oh it’s my pleasure thank you for having me Kevin absolutely and you where are you

[00:02:16] originally from dr. Mendoza I’m from San Diego yes that is my hometown I went to

[00:02:25] UCSD for my undergrad okay fantastic and and so you right now you have two two

[00:02:32] schools in Kenya another one in Rwanda and two more coming in Rwanda that are

[00:02:38] specifically meant to educate reach out and educate and help young girls who had

[00:02:46] been involved in human trafficking or we’re at risk for human trafficking is that right yes the two schools in Kenya

[00:02:54] we started I started back in 2011 I started with one and it grew but the

[00:03:00] girls that attends to me till we have South Sudanese Somali Ethiopian Kenyan

[00:03:07] Ugandan we have there six different nationalities that attend the two schools in Kenya and those lots of

[00:03:15] different histories and background that the children come to cities hope and from orphans to sexually abused to be

[00:03:24] rescued from being traded to be you know the fourth wife in South Sudan little

[00:03:30] girls whose parents were murdered right in front of them and and they were completely orphaned coming on a bus from

[00:03:37] Ethiopia and they get to attend Cindy cope Academy so where there’s full boarding facilities and Christian

[00:03:44] education well now usually I’m sorry you mentioned that rescued from being the fourth wife

[00:03:51] is that what you said yes that’s what I said so in South Sudan there are still civil war and civil unrest in South

[00:03:58] Sudan and some of these children and even women widows as Kumiko boss’ll

[00:04:04] rescues and has quite a few widows will walk across the border to walk through

[00:04:09] South Sudan to come into Kenya or Ethiopia because their deaf community

[00:04:15] was burned down and their parents were murdered and killed and they are fleeing

[00:04:20] so they walk three days to the border either gambelli refugee camp or into

[00:04:27] Kenya and I work with another partner ministry who identifies little girls

[00:04:32] that are orphaned that are going to be traded as why because they don’t have

[00:04:38] anybody to speak for them and therefore it is acceptable to buy another wife traded girl for a boat and these little

[00:04:46] girls are then brought to Cindy’s Hope in Kenya and then they’re given

[00:04:52] opportunity they get to go to school they’re fully character aborted clothed fed and taken care of

[00:04:58] Wow so so that and that reference to the fourth wife that’s that’s because in a

[00:05:05] large majority or a large portion of the population is follows Islam and under Sharia law a man is allowed to have four

[00:05:12] wives is that what you’re referring to when you say the fourth wife well in South Sudan you they’d still practice

[00:05:18] polygamy and yes so they can have child rides and and and many wives in my

[00:05:25] Somali and my Ethiopian families usually the husband just leaves and the mom then

[00:05:32] has seven kids eight kids and it’s one lady who is uneducated has never Audra

[00:05:40] been to school and she is left trying to find how to care for these children he

[00:05:45] then come to Cindy’s hope and the children really has never gone to school so you have a 13 year old 11 year old

[00:05:51] and they don’t even know their ABCs they only know how to speak their language in

[00:05:56] Somali or Ethiopia Amharic or Monroe so

[00:06:01] they’re speaking these other foreign language and then they come to see me so we we teach English and they also know

[00:06:07] we are going to teach Christianity so we map memory verses every week they have Chapel weekly and so yes you have the

[00:06:16] Sharia law you have abandoned women you have orphans you have sex traffic you have sexually abused girls you just have

[00:06:23] orphaned girls from the war so so Cindy tell us about this did you did you know

[00:06:31] that this was something you were going to do when you were a young were you in high school thinking to yourself you know what I’m going to go start a school

[00:06:37] in Africa I’m going to rescue a girl out of human trafficking is that what happened not at all I knew when I first

[00:06:47] became born-again and when a in my early 20s the Lord had told me to go back to get a teaching certificate so when I had

[00:06:53] graduated from UCSD it was in political science at Japanese studies that was my focus and then I went back to school to

[00:07:02] get teaching certificates and masters and doctors so I knew the Lord was calling me to Christian education but I

[00:07:09] and in the mission field but I had no idea that I was going to start schools and missionary also required you to know

[00:07:17] human resources and accounting and I had no idea that this is where it would take

[00:07:23] me in it and the Lord the more you submit to what the Lord is your calling the figurative enos it’s far bigger and

[00:07:31] greater than you could ever imagine how the Lord wants to use you if you just say yes Lord

[00:07:37] pick me choose me yeah I want to do great things for you what is it gonna

[00:07:42] take well what do I need to lay down and so you know you said I heard you so did you

[00:07:50] grow up in a Christian family you said you got saved in your early 20s yes my um my dad got born again when he was in

[00:08:01] his forties and I watched him he was baptized in Mission Bay and I was

[00:08:06] thinking he joined a cult my surgeon I really watched the transformation of my

[00:08:13] dad and there in San Diego and then we started going to church and we got faith

[00:08:20] in what what kind of transformations did you see in your dad that ultimately led you to go wow this is something I need

[00:08:26] to consider well and it’s real that Jesus is real I his behavior change so

[00:08:32] he wasn’t as angry anymore he was more at peace he was going to church and

[00:08:38] really learning what the Bible said they were going to Bible School and I remember being 19 in sarcastic thinking

[00:08:44] what are you gonna study to be in a nun or a monk when you’re studying a Bible now I look back in a gasps and Shane

[00:08:52] like a old dad I’m so sorry because now I love to study the Word of God it is my

[00:08:59] passion to know how the Lord wants us to live and how to teach others what how

[00:09:06] the father and desires rested to be manifested in our life yeah he is real the god of the universe is real

[00:09:12] hmm that’s that’s amazing yeah and it’s so true you know I heard a guy talking

[00:09:20] about the influence of Christian missionaries in Africa and he was saying you know the only influence that we see

[00:09:27] that really lasts is the influence of Christ and this guy was not even a Christian he was actually saying this

[00:09:34] kind of in a way where he was like reluctant to say this because he said look it we go in there we give money we

[00:09:41] do things but there’s no lasting change unless you bring these people where they

[00:09:46] begin to dedicate themselves to Christ and then we see lasting change and you

[00:09:52] know that we see this testimony all over the world that when a it’s not religion that says people it’s it’s Jesus Christ

[00:09:58] it’s that relationship personally with him yes it’s a mindset change Kevin that

[00:10:04] you have to change how you think you have to think like God thinks that all things are possible for him he believes

[00:10:10] then I have no limits no boundaries because God has gone before me I don’t even have to be afraid if he tells me to

[00:10:16] go to Somalia I don’t have to be afraid if he says will open a new school Rwanda because God doesn’t have a money problem

[00:10:22] he just has a faith problem the Word of God says the eyes of the world that are looking to and fro throughout the whole

[00:10:28] earth to see whose heart is going to begin that’s what he’s looking for and

[00:10:34] we say yes here my friend me I don’t go that’s what he’s looking for and then he says okay now I want you to

[00:10:40] go do this and you say yes you don’t even have to know all the details because the Holy Spirit in you will

[00:10:46] guide you and direct you in where you need to gather the funds or where you need to tell you okay now I need to do

[00:10:52] some Human Resources now let’s learn how to do this he’ll teach you where you need to go and worry what you need to do

[00:10:59] Wow and that’s inspiring if you’re listening my guest today is dr. Cindy Mendoza and she went from a 19 year old teenager

[00:11:06] mocking her father who had turned to Christ to somebody now who is serving over in

[00:11:13] Africa who has started now three schools – in Kenya one in Rwanda and two more

[00:11:19] coming in Rwanda rescuing orphans out of human

[00:11:24] trafficking and other horrible situations in which they’ve gotten themselves in so send you I’m curious to

[00:11:32] know how did you how did that inspiration start where did that come from when did you hear this call from

[00:11:37] God – that okay I’m supposed to do this in Africa and what was that process of

[00:11:44] saying yes because that’s a that’s a big change to go from as somebody living in

[00:11:49] Southern California San Diego there’s a lot of comforts here incredible weather and lots of blessings and then to go all

[00:11:57] the way to Africa where you’re dealing with horrible tragedies and the kind of stuff that happened in Rwanda and so

[00:12:02] forth and then to be willing to take that step what what was it that caused you to go this is something that God

[00:12:08] wants me to do um I realized as I when I

[00:12:14] first became saved I was thinking I don’t have time to read the Bible I was going to college and thinking wow that’s

[00:12:19] a whole nother assignment and yet the Lord in His grace he draws you in and

[00:12:26] you start reading you want to know more you want to know more and I realized you

[00:12:31] know when people say I’m God wants your heart I just want your heart and I was

[00:12:38] actually taking a train I was an Amtrak Cindy real real quick here this is a good place to take a quick break Syria

[00:12:45] was taking a train if you’re listening she was taking a train and then something happened okay we’re gonna come up on a quick break here that’s a good

[00:12:51] tease and my guest today is dr. Cindy Mendoza that Cindy’s – hope org if you

[00:12:58] want to learn more about the ministry if you want to get involved this is a great opportunity to see Christ

[00:13:03] work in your life and work through your life so stay with us we’ll be right back [Music]

[00:13:43] thanks for listening today this is educate for life I’m your host Kevin Conover my ministry educate for life is

[00:13:49] meant to help young people and and adults look at the facts look at the

[00:13:55] evidence for the truth of Christianity and commit their life to Jesus Christ ultimately and on my website you can

[00:14:00] take all kinds of classes on these subjects all kinds of things like how did the Bible come together who wrote

[00:14:06] the Bible how do they choose what books are in the Bible what about creation what about evolution what about all the

[00:14:11] details of those sorts of things we also have numerous radio show guests just a little while ago I had on the the show

[00:14:18] Mary Jo sharp a former atheist who became convinced that Christianity was true through the evidence and we have

[00:14:24] all kinds of amazing interviews up there with people from all over the world talking about how Christ has influenced

[00:14:30] their life and ultimately given them the hope of eternal life my guest today is dr. Cindy Mendoza and she is has a

[00:14:38] ministry called Cindy’s hope that is working in Africa to rescue kids out of

[00:14:43] human trafficking then educate them provide a home for them the food they need the water they need everything that

[00:14:49] they need in order to get going and she is has three schools up and running two more to go and when we left off on the

[00:14:56] the last segment she was talking about what ultimately caused her to decide that this was something that she that

[00:15:03] God was asking her to do was was minister to these young people in Africa so you were on a train Cindy inand what

[00:15:10] happened next I I don’t know if I was reading my Bible

[00:15:15] or or a block or what but I remember the Lord beam it was very clear that there’s

[00:15:22] kind of a colloquialism that the Lord just want your heart but he was sharing

[00:15:27] with me I don’t just want your heart city I want your hands and your feet and your mind in your mouth I want every

[00:15:33] part of you I want every part of you to serve me and you were created for a

[00:15:38] purpose for such a time is it then I’m calling you out and that the Lord is

[00:15:44] just calling me I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older even though I like to think I’m special but these colonies from each one of us

[00:15:52] that each one of us has been created with purpose with intent with passion

[00:15:58] and we are to fulfill the purpose that which our Father created us and that

[00:16:04] requires sacrifices and saying Lord you know what if you know the number of

[00:16:10] hairs I have on my head if you and kept every tear I’ve cried in a bottle if you know my days from beginning to end then

[00:16:16] surely you know what’s best for me surely you know that I shouldn’t just study political science with the biology

[00:16:24] and Japanese studies but it wherever you want me to go whatever you want me to do is that the best plan that’s the best

[00:16:31] way to go now now did you have anybody when you said okay I’m gonna go to Africa I’m gonna do this did you have

[00:16:36] anybody say whoa that’s crazy what on you know maybe you know take a breather here did anybody were there

[00:16:42] anybody the saying that you you you should rethink this lots of times even now lots of you know

[00:16:50] where did you feel but then I believe the vision for what the Lord has for

[00:16:56] this coming up next six months is two more schools in Rwanda and not only

[00:17:01] non-christians but Christians think that is absolutely your what I can’t think of

[00:17:08] the word right now but you’re imposing upon the Lord that you are you’re overstepping your bounds you’re putting

[00:17:14] God to the test yes yes and my buddy I don’t there’s nothing that he can’t do

[00:17:22] yeah it wants us to step out and believe leave that he has everything that we

[00:17:28] need there is a in Rwanda when the Lord had asked me to go to Rwanda almost two

[00:17:34] years ago I when I was there the Lord showed me an especially as an educator

[00:17:40] you’ll appreciate this cabin that 48% of the population is under 18 years old 48%

[00:17:47] of the population according to the statistics that they have Wow 4th floor

[00:17:53] of every 10 or under 18 yes you have a country of youth you have a country of

[00:18:00] youth you have a 64 to 1 student-teacher ratio also as an educator and as a

[00:18:07] teacher that is you’re not learning a whole lot oh that’s that’s insane I can’t even imagine how you would be able

[00:18:14] to manage that yeah are the children truly even learning and by the time they

[00:18:20] get to sixth grade most of those students are dropping out and dropping off because they have no hope to go even

[00:18:25] further in school so the 64 no one is even you know they’re only going up to

[00:18:30] sixth grade and the Lord said you know he says in 2nd 2nd Kings 17 Elijah prays

[00:18:37] to his ethnicity he would open his eyes that he would speak and that what I believe the world is city I need you to

[00:18:44] open your eyes there is a harvest here there is a harvest of boys and girls we need to know me I need to know that

[00:18:51] there is a God of the universe and he loves them and I created them for playing the purpose and I need them to

[00:18:57] come to me so Christian education is the vehicle to bring those boys and girls

[00:19:03] into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ they get to know the father when they rise up when they walk upon the

[00:19:09] road when they go there along the way they get to know him because they’re going to see them every single day yes

[00:19:16] and that changes everything once a person knows Christ and so Cindy how many people or how many young people are

[00:19:22] currently in the schools that you’re currently running um I will be up 350

[00:19:29] students right now and I just had a meeting with the mayor last month and he

[00:19:36] said you’re doing a great work we just want to add kids into your classroom you know can you take 50 and I said no no fifty to

[00:19:45] one nothing to no I need to go home and fundraise and we’re going to fill more classrooms because we have a 16 to one

[00:19:53] student-teacher ratio we don’t want 50 to one so not only the current school we

[00:20:01] are adding more classrooms but two more schools will come up in different areas to minister to the boys and girls yeah

[00:20:10] across Rwanda and and where does that money come from to be able to provide for them are you providing are you providing room and board as well as

[00:20:16] education or is this is this they’re just coming to school or how does that work

[00:20:21] in Rwanda yeah I do have a few orphans

[00:20:27] and the orphans are fully cared for their boarded day at breakfast lunch and dinner and school fees and uniform so if

[00:20:33] they’re an orphan they’re 100 percent cared for if they have a parent one parent Cyndi’s hold pays for their

[00:20:41] complete education may have a snack and they go to school for free all their books and the teacher’s salary

[00:20:48] everything is catered for and then they go home at night and they live with their parents and the parent is

[00:20:55] responsible for their school uniform the parent is responsible for making sure they’re on time to come to school so

[00:21:02] they’re come by and with the community that it’s not just free everything is a

[00:21:07] either way but they have some some buy into that so so where is the funding

[00:21:13] coming or is the government supporting your school or how do you get funding for all of this it’s all from the wall

[00:21:20] it’s all fund raised some churches from individuals wherever whomever the Lord puts on their

[00:21:28] heart to send donations okay and that’s important yeah and so in order to get

[00:21:33] these next two schools off the ground I mean for our listeners sake and for those of you listening who you know have

[00:21:39] the financial means to support a ministry that’s making a radical difference in the world and doing such

[00:21:45] incredible things this is a fantastic ministry to support Cyndi’s – hope org

[00:21:52] what what kind of funding do you need in order to get these other schools off the ground

[00:21:57] each school cost a hundred and ten thousand per phase one so one hundred and ten thousand dollars

[00:22:04] puts up the the beginning classrooms administration and the and the latrines

[00:22:10] the toilets so one hundred ten thousand so I’m and you need to buy the land and

[00:22:16] so I need two hundred and eighty thousand to get these two schools open

[00:22:21] by January 22nd 2020 okay so if you’re

[00:22:27] out there and you have those those means we know God has plenty of money that’s not the issue like Cindy’s saying it’s

[00:22:32] it’s God is looking for our faith to collaborate together as a body of Christ

[00:22:38] to minister to these young women out here who are ultimately going to go out and then in that community begin to

[00:22:44] share Christ also as Christ impacts their lives if you have the resources would they just if they want to make a

[00:22:50] donation would they just go to your website Cindy yes they can go to the website and donate Cindy told there’s a

[00:22:56] 501c3 so we are registered in the United States as a corporation and a non-profit

[00:23:03] and so all donations are tax-deductible they can why are the money to us they

[00:23:09] can write a check and all the finances we have a treasurer in Kansas who keeps

[00:23:15] tracking of all those finances and sends out the seeds and files the tax forms

[00:23:21] and all the legal operation okay that’s yeah that’s fantastic okay and then I wanted to get kind of go

[00:23:29] back again to your story as in you you felt called to do this why was it that

[00:23:35] you chose Africa specifically and what why not another part of the world why

[00:23:41] not maybe you know South America or some other area or China or somewhere else

[00:23:46] what was it that ultimately led you to make the decision that you were meant to minister in Africa and so when we get

[00:23:52] back my guest today is dr. Cindy Mendoza of Cindy’s hope org and she is talking

[00:23:58] about the schools that are start she started in Kenya and Rwanda and opening

[00:24:04] even more school in order to rescue girls from human trafficking to get them out of abusive situations and ultimately to teach them

[00:24:12] about Jesus Christ as well as give them a really good education so that they can go out there and make a living and

[00:24:19] survive on their own and go out there and be an influence for the Lord stay with us we’re gonna we have two more

[00:24:25] segments left and she’s going to continue to share her story with us we’ll be right back when you need tires

[00:25:14] thanks for listening today this is educate for life I’m your host Kevin Conover and we’re screaming all over the place we’re on Facebook we’re on YouTube

[00:25:21] we’re on periscope we’re on all these different outlets as well as we are also on the radio on Sundays this is a this

[00:25:28] is a pre-recorded show that will air again on Sunday at 10 p.m. on Cape Ray’s here in Southern California FM 106.1 in

[00:25:36] North County as well as AM 12:10 in San Diego and my ministry has educate for

[00:25:41] life org where my goal is to help people understand why the bible is true go

[00:25:46] through all the tough questions people have about things like for example if God made everything who made God right

[00:25:52] or what evidence do we have that God actually exists is there any evidence from science and I’m speaking in June a

[00:25:59] lot there’s a bunch of events which I’m speaking at the great homeschool convention from June 13th through the

[00:26:05] 15th I’ll be speaking up there on all kinds of different subjects that pertain to both homeschooling parenting and

[00:26:12] apologetics I’m also speaking at the Awana honors camp in June June 23rd

[00:26:17] through the 28th I’m also speaking out future quests down here in Southern California and finally I’ll be at

[00:26:24] Calvary Chapel Oceanside speaking at their apologetics class on July 5th if

[00:26:29] you want to check that out I also teach a class every Sunday at Skyline Church

[00:26:34] in East County and you can join us 9:00 a.m. Sunday mornings and we’re going

[00:26:40] through different issues right now we’re covering the issue of human sexuality and are people born heterosexual or

[00:26:46] homosexual word we’re dealing with that that’s a big issue that people are interested in learning more about and so

[00:26:52] please come out and join us for any of those different events that would be great my guest today is dr. Cindy

[00:26:57] Mendoza her website is Cindy’s – hope org she’s her organization is a 501c3

[00:27:03] and they need the resources to be able to open up more schools in order to reach more kids especially Cindy these

[00:27:12] are all women’s girls schools is that right in Rwanda and we it’s 50/50

[00:27:19] because they’ll just come from the community the orphans that we board the girls that we board are I only board the

[00:27:26] girls that are orphan traffic abuse and we have one of

[00:27:32] the schools in Kenya in the downtown in East Lee we allow boy students to come

[00:27:39] that they’re usually refugees Somali or Ethiopian refugees come to school there

[00:27:44] as well but we only board them girls that are traffic okay now you know you said something interesting you said that

[00:27:50] four out of ten close to 40% of all the people in I think you said Rwanda are

[00:27:57] under the age of 18 why are there so many young people in in the area is that

[00:28:02] because of the Rwandan genocide yes sir because of the genocide that happened 25

[00:28:08] years ago you have so many people were were killed during the genocide that

[00:28:15] what is rising up right now is a nation of young people so even the Rwanda goal

[00:28:21] or desire is to educate their people they know that they are a landlocked country they don’t aren’t necessarily

[00:28:29] rich in oil or gold or diamonds but they have a lot of human resources humans so

[00:28:36] they would like to develop that and they just want to rise above where they come

[00:28:43] from okay and then what about Kenya does can you have a large youth population as all as well or not as not to those

[00:28:52] statistics I don’t have the statistics right in front of me but Kenya historically has been a little more

[00:28:58] stable than the other countries they’re their surrounding countries of Somalia South Sudan and Ethiopia those ones are

[00:29:05] still fighting how heavily so they have many refugees that scream into Kenya

[00:29:10] also Congo which is experiencing Ebola right now and it’s also known as the

[00:29:16] rape capital of the world quite a few neighbors there in East Africa that are

[00:29:23] not great places to go and many refugees and we have the opportunity to share Christ and educate these boys and girls

[00:29:30] to know him so so back to my question from the previous discussion we were

[00:29:36] having what was it that caused you to have a heart specifically for this part of the world and for these

[00:29:41] people as opposed to some other part of the world where what happened that that God influenced you in this direction um

[00:29:49] honestly I didn’t care where that time on the bus on the train on the arm chattering I didn’t I didn’t care where

[00:29:55] he wanted me to go I just wanted to go here my friends meet anywhere ever in my

[00:30:02] husband actually went on a short-term mission trip to Kenya Oh 14 years ago

[00:30:08] and then when he was in Kenya he said you know the Lord is calling us here out

[00:30:14] like a let’s go waiting for him to you

[00:30:20] know I wait for my husband yeah does your does your does your husband ever say slow down Cyndi you’re going too

[00:30:25] fast sometimes listens to the updates as

[00:30:31] other people you know any it’s like mommy are you know we have 350 you last

[00:30:39] time he left for example he’s in he’s in Kenya right now working and you know

[00:30:44] he’ll come back and he’ll he or something I didn’t know there were 350 he’s a dentist and he does other work

[00:30:50] that’s not even weeks and he told is just the ministry that was the most out

[00:30:56] of mine is you know the Lord yeah and and what about your own family do you have kids of your own

[00:31:02] I do I have three DS so my boys are now 24 19 and 16 Wow and are they involved

[00:31:12] at all in what you’re doing they do they go without the two older ones are now working and going to college in Tulsa

[00:31:20] Oklahoma and our youngest son travels with us we’ll go back to Africa next

[00:31:27] week and he’ll travel with us in and minister with us he also you know in

[00:31:32] schools and is involved sometimes he likes it and sometimes he’s 15 and doesn’t like it that’s right

[00:31:38] well what do you say to the person who who you know feels like oh wow I’m I

[00:31:45] want to be a part of something like this I want to do something like this but there’s people telling them oh that’s dangerous and and you know what you know

[00:31:52] there’s a lot of problems and these parts of the world and you know it’s it’s risky what do you say to somebody

[00:31:58] who says something like that the safest place to be is in God’s perfect will then you can be in trouble

[00:32:08] get in a car accident or be sexually assaulted in America that the worst place to be is any disobedience to what

[00:32:15] the Lord is calling you to do if he’s asking you to go you will have no greater joy no more safety than

[00:32:22] following and obeying the father that’s that’s great that’s a great way to you

[00:32:29] know phrase that and look at that absolutely if you are somebody who wants to support Cindy’s hope

[00:32:35] Cindy’s hope Cindy’s – hope org is the website and if you want to put your

[00:32:41] money to good use you know a lot of times we wonder okay should I give should I donate money to a particular ministry because we’re concerned about

[00:32:47] maybe the way they’re going to use that money is it going to be effective or are they going to are they actually making a difference well if you look at the the

[00:32:55] facts surrounding this ministry and and dr. Cindy Mendoza and what she’s doing they are making a gigantic difference

[00:33:01] the money is going towards an obviously good use and they’re seeing all kinds of amazing things happen Cindy can you

[00:33:09] share with our with our listeners some of the impact that you’ve seen happen that’s more on a personal level rather

[00:33:17] than the we have the overarching view that you’ve got these three schools started you’re starting two more schools you’ve got 350 students but on a more

[00:33:24] personal level what are some of the stories of how people’s lives are being changed the I’m glad you asked first

[00:33:34] I think the Lord always first of all he wants to work in our lives he wants to show us individually personally that he

[00:33:41] is a God of the living and not the dead and I remember I was sharing with

[00:33:47] another church and I was I was sharing about Cindy told and I it wasn’t until I

[00:33:52] was actually giving the presentation that the Lord pointed out to me he said to me this is this is the product of

[00:33:58] your faith this is like your garden you know and as we plant and as we show as

[00:34:03] we believe on the Lord and obey Him that the manifestations I know these are

[00:34:10] Christian words I’m throwing out but these are the results that you get when you obey the father and one of the

[00:34:17] schools is in the downtown area it’s in it’s even called little no vacation

[00:34:22] which is the capital of Somalia so it’s a very rough bad neighborhood and my husband and I we’re at a conference with

[00:34:29] other missionaries at the time American and European missionaries and the pastor

[00:34:34] was challenging us as missionaries you know what if these people in Somalia knew Jesus Christ they won’t be bombing

[00:34:41] places they won’t be kidnapping and doing all these horrific things and he said so he who is gonna go he’s gonna go

[00:34:47] to Somalia I’m like man I’m calling my husband put my hand down and so one go I

[00:34:56] would tell these people and my husband I mean he goes to play he goes to Jordan he goes to Pakistan he goes to South

[00:35:04] Sudan under even been to those really rough places and he’s like you not going to Somalia and yet the Lord wants your

[00:35:13] heart the world launching said yes we’ll hear my Effendi because I didn’t have to go to Somalia I didn’t need to disobey

[00:35:20] and be rebellious towards my husband either you know there is a community just 30

[00:35:26] minutes from our house in Kenya that was full of tamale people refugees that had

[00:35:31] come so you don’t even have to go to Africa God might be calling you down the street to your house and minister and

[00:35:38] King and to show unto these people glides and I’ll Michael okay gosh Lord alright well I would meet women who like

[00:35:48] I said eight children and her husband left her for another younger cuter woman

[00:35:54] he didn’t just give birth to eight kings and here’s this woman living in a small room that’s only decided some of our

[00:36:00] closets in America and I’m eight people living it here in this situation no

[00:36:07] schooling no education and and Montini can can we have $30 for rent can we have

[00:36:13] some money to buy flour um you know $30 I just is amazing I have a lady that

[00:36:21] Kame actually in January and she’s a Sudanese woman and she’s a widow her

[00:36:28] husband was killed in battle her and her five kids walked three days across the border to get into a refugee camp she’s

[00:36:36] in a UN refugee camp she’s sexually assaulted in a UN refugee camp and it’s

[00:36:42] pregnant with twins oh my gosh thinking father father I mean we have nothing

[00:36:48] here at home to cry about lady I mean –

[00:36:54] now she’s a mother of seven and um my friend who he brings and brings the

[00:37:03] other little girls that are being trafficked up there he comes to me I have a lady she has seven kids like Oh

[00:37:09] James that is a big that’s a big people group yeah and yet Lord yeah I have

[00:37:16] different friends that have you know some people love to fun school some

[00:37:22] people love to fund a towel initiative or whatever I’m working on and I have a mutual friend who has a heart for women

[00:37:29] and I said I’d continued to me I need some help you help me fundraise her name is Bible she has seven kids I

[00:37:37] need to get her to Cindy cope it’s going to take bus fare it’s going to take passport it’s going to take bed and

[00:37:43] within two months the Lord had brought enough money to bring Bible and her seven children to Cindy’s hope um it is

[00:37:52] a story of hope that once they get there and they need the God of the universe you don’t have to can use your husband

[00:37:59] he is your provider he to care for you um and you don’t have to worry about being grazed anymore you don’t have to

[00:38:05] worry about how am I going to feed my kids because the god of the universe will now feed them and care for them and

[00:38:11] educate them well and there’s just no other way you want to live your life oh

[00:38:16] absolutely my guest today is dr. Cindy Mendoza and you’re hearing from her personally she’s

[00:38:23] over in Kenya and Rwanda ministering to all these people a lot of refugees a lot

[00:38:28] of people in very very horrible situations that have come out of very difficult times there’s a lot of cry

[00:38:35] is over in that area of the world a lot of famine a lot of lack of water a lot

[00:38:41] of difficult situations but God has drawn drawn her over there and she’s ministering over there if you want to

[00:38:47] support her this is a great opportunity to invest in the kingdom of God Cindy’s

[00:38:53] hope gorg Cindy’s – hope org we have one more segment left stay with us we’re going to talk a little bit more about the future

[00:38:59] of the ministry and how these what these other schools are going to be doing and so stay with us as we continue to talk

[00:39:05] to dr. sinja mendoza we’ll be right back [Music]

[00:39:54] listening today this is educate for life I’m your host Kevin Conover my web sites educate for life.org and if you are

[00:40:00] interested if you’re if you’re a homeschool parent or you’re somebody who wants to study the Word of God in depth you really want to understand the truth

[00:40:19] month you can’t beat the price and you have access to 40 different classes on things like where did the Bible come

[00:40:27] from creation evolution cultural issues all the different things that you can

[00:40:32] imagine that you would have questions about God or or the Bible or Christianity or the history of

[00:40:37] Christianity if that’s all available to you on the web there educate for life org is my website my guest today is dr.

[00:40:45] Cindy Mendoza Cindy’s – hope org it’s a 501c3 and if

[00:40:51] you have the financial means to support what they’re doing as they reach out to people over in Africa

[00:40:57] please take the opportunity to get to know more about the ministry and to invest in what they’re doing it’s absolutely needed and there is the

[00:41:07] the UN right now if you’re looking in the news is warning about Somalia facing

[00:41:12] famine and drought so there’s all kinds of issues over there she was just

[00:41:18] telling us about how the there’s so much youth in Rwanda because of the Rwandan

[00:41:24] genocide that happened back in 1994 and so this is an

[00:41:29] opportunity for you to make a difference investing in the kingdom of God and what about somebody’s Cindy who wants to do

[00:41:37] more than say just give support financially what if they actually want

[00:41:42] to travel to Africa with you is that a possibility also do you need people to

[00:41:47] go and teach also or what’s the situation there absolutely we there’s

[00:41:53] three poor teams coming throughout this summer all the way till the end of September there will be groups of people

[00:41:59] coming out to Cindy’s hope either in Rwanda or to Kenya doing different

[00:42:05] things from aquaponics we’re setting up at each location – we do prison work in

[00:42:11] Rwanda where we go into the prisons that preach the gospel we are planning in July to do a baptism there at one of the

[00:42:18] sites as well as some Bible studies and and working with the prison’s one of the

[00:42:23] focuses was every month at City so it doesn’t matter which campus you’re on

[00:42:29] but we do outreach so even the children are taught to use not just to come in

[00:42:34] and receive but to give out there we were to be conduits of Christ’s love provision care prayer so the kids the

[00:42:43] teachers will have a gift whether its food or a Bible and they will go out to

[00:42:48] identify people in our community needy needy families or elderly and we would

[00:42:55] go to their homes once a month and minister to that minister the love of Christ either give you’ll clean their

[00:43:00] home we’ll melt their cow whatever it is scheduled for that month and in Rwanda

[00:43:08] just recently we when I was there in April we were going we go door-to-door

[00:43:13] like EE Evangel consume expose we go door-to-door with our Bibles and praying

[00:43:18] for the families how can we pray for you and we do this on the lunch break because in Rwanda they come home from

[00:43:23] working out in the field during lunch time so we had gone there was three of us and knocked on this one gentleman’s

[00:43:31] home now at the time Coby was the leader so when the leader is leading the leader gets to

[00:43:37] choose what what home were going into when and I want to okay home on speaking loosely here this is a mud brick mud home that’s the three

[00:43:45] of us are going into they have one long bench that we sat on and Kolby starts

[00:43:52] talking with him about Jesus and he has his Bible under his arm and he said you know have you asked Christ as your Lord

[00:43:58] and Savior and tell me about you know he’s sharing with him and and the gentleman said you know I used to

[00:44:04] believe in that I used to but after I got married and have kids you know I just I just didn’t have time for it and

[00:44:10] now I’ve been really trained and wondering and speaking and you know where is she where is this God and Cody

[00:44:19] says to him he said you know what it’s that God that brought us to you today that he wants to tell you how much we

[00:44:26] love you and how much he cares for you can I pray for you what is your name and the man because my name is Emmanuel and

[00:44:34] gentleman and I that would be another two people just pray I started weeping my name is Emmanuel you know the father

[00:44:43] never leaves us he’s Emmanuel God is with you you look up all the time in

[00:44:49] fact he’ll come to your door you’re not gonna door and say hey I love you I’m stealing your naughty and I have

[00:44:56] a gift for you oh and as we leave these houses I mean we do when the visitors

[00:45:02] are there but we do it we do it monthly anyway the staff and the kids at Sinise hope it is just the sweetest best time

[00:45:09] up serving not that loving the kids it’s super fun especially if you love children playing games and and they love

[00:45:17] that interaction Bobby listen so the visitors love that but going door to

[00:45:22] door and and spreading Christ or even going into the prisons and there’s just

[00:45:30] no greater joy it’s go greater joy than serving ham absolutely yeah we go down

[00:45:36] every month we go down actually I’m going down to the beach tomorrow and we shared Jesus with the people down at the

[00:45:42] beach down at Mission Beach and and everything and it’s amazing to see God work in people’s lives just through the

[00:45:48] people you get to talk to and and let them know that God is that look he loves them and he knows

[00:45:54] that they’re there and you know that they matter to him you know so that’s incredible so again my guest today is

[00:46:02] dr. Cindy Mendoza and if you’re interested in getting involved in reaching out to the people in Africa and

[00:46:08] making a difference in those people’s lives there’s so much need there though the Bible says that the harvest is

[00:46:13] plentiful but the workers are few pray to the lord of the harvest to send out workers into the harvest field and so I think that’s what you know we’re called

[00:46:20] to do is that there is no greater fulfillment than finding your purpose in

[00:46:25] what God has for you in order to love other people through whatever whatever Avenue that is and we all have a

[00:46:32] different place in life and it where the body of Christ we work together to bring people to the knowledge of Jesus Christ

[00:46:37] so or if you if a youth group wants to get involved Cindy if they wanted to take kids out to Africa like that is

[00:46:45] that something they could do also that they could organize with you absolutely we have Lori Akai is the USA director

[00:46:53] here in the United States and on the website it says contact documents the email addresses on there and she will

[00:47:00] set up and and walk the youth team meet with them help with the itineraries what

[00:47:08] hagwa to expect so we have someone here in the state that does manage and direct

[00:47:15] and coordinate youth groups going youth groups or any group but absolutely okay

[00:47:21] and they can all do that through the website yes they just need to email us and we will we’re also on facebook and

[00:47:28] facebook Messenger to use any types of that kind of communication is is on

[00:47:35] there I believe our phone numbers on the website as well okay great sorry it kind yeah well I think this is

[00:47:42] incredible what you’re doing there I think it’s fantastic and do you work with local pastors and missionaries also

[00:47:49] is there an integration there me yes

[00:47:56] I realize you really grow you just need to keep listening to the Lord because he

[00:48:01] has so many great ideas you don’t you don’t know at all yeah in Kenya there’s

[00:48:08] a lot of networking with different missionaries different different groups

[00:48:13] where we coordinate like I said I have another friend that works up in the UN

[00:48:19] camps up there in in Ethiopia and in and out of South Sudan he’s the one that

[00:48:24] identifies his group the orphans and brings them down there’s also different

[00:48:30] prison groups that we have worked with with Prison Fellowship to administer it

[00:48:36] and to live inside the prison so you definitely aren’t you the body of Christ

[00:48:42] and everybody has to laugh and different gifts and talents and you want to come

[00:48:47] together to spread the gospel yeah amen well thank you so much for being on the air with us today yeah and when do you

[00:48:55] head back to Africa next Tuesday okay so that’s exciting so again at dr. Cindy

[00:49:03] Mendoza I was on the program here today and Cindy’s hope goerge that’s Cindy’s –

[00:49:08] hope gorg if you will are interested in getting involved personally if you would like to take a trip with her to Africa

[00:49:14] if you’d like to serve over in Africa or if you want to just if you have the financial means and you can support what they’re doing again they’re going to be

[00:49:21] opening two more schools in Rwanda by January so they need the funds for that

[00:49:26] if you have the means to be able to do that please do that and keep the ministry in your prayer also Cindy I’ll

[00:49:34] be praying for you and thank you so much for all that you’re doing and all the blessings that you are to so many people

[00:49:40] thank you so much for having me and letting me share all this awesome things the Lord is doing and he wants to news

[00:49:46] each of us for need honor amen amen okay everybody listen out there we’ll
