Guest & Topic Details
Drew Casper is a survivor of a near-fatal racing accident that left doctors with little explanation for his recovery. In this episode, Drew recounts how the Lord used suffering to shatter pride, awaken saving faith, and ignite a passion for Scripture and discipleship. His journey—from a two-week coma and traumatic brain injury to running miles and mentoring others—demonstrates God’s sovereignty, grace, and the power of a robust biblical worldview when life collapses.
Beyond his testimony, Drew shares how immersing himself in the Bible and solid Christian apologetics reshaped his thinking about truth, purpose, and eternity. He now creates faith-building resources for families (including kid-friendly Scripture workbooks) and encourages believers to see trials through the lens of God’s goodness and eternal promises. This is a conversation your youth group, homeschool co-op, or Christian school chapel can rally around.
Key Takeaways
- How God used suffering to move Drew from “lukewarm” to fully surrendered discipleship—and why that matters for Christian parenting and schooling.
- Practical ways to talk with students about pain, providence, and God’s goodness without clichés or compromise.
- Why a Genesis-to-Revelation reading habit—and creation science resources—clarified Drew’s faith and worldview.
- Hope for trauma survivors: disciplines and community practices that helped Drew rebuild mind, body, and soul.
- A challenge to families and teachers: aim your education at eternity, not just achievement.

[00:00:00] Thanks for being here today. My name is Kevin Conover and I’m your host on Educate for Life Radio. We’re
[00:00:06] broadcasting down here on K Praise 12:10 a.m. and also on FM
[00:00:11] 106.1 in Southern California. Right now, the weather is super sunny and uh got to
[00:00:16] go to the beach over the weekend. Sorry if you’re in another part of the country that uh didn’t get to enjoy that. I
[00:00:22] apologize. Um but um we’re enjoying it for a while here. It’s beautiful. My
[00:00:27] website, if you don’t know, is educateforlife.org and there are all kinds of resources on there that are
[00:00:34] helpful to you to be able to raise confident Christians to um encourage your family. I just got back from
[00:00:40] Montana uh with my good pastor friend Todd Nicholson who started a church
[00:00:45] there in Montana, Buffalo Church. If you’re in Montana, check it out. He’s in Helena and uh had an incredible time. my
[00:00:51] wife and I went and I got to um just fellowship with his church family and just um encourage people there. And so
[00:00:59] it was a big blessing. And uh not too long ago uh I got uh an email from
[00:01:06] somebody who is now a friend of mine. I consider him a friend and a big blessing. And his story is incredible.
[00:01:12] And I just thought it would be a blessing for other people to hear it and just to hear about his uh tenacity and
[00:01:19] perseverance and just um how he relates what he’s been through um to the Lord.
[00:01:25] And if you’re going through a hard time or you’ve been through hard times or had traumatic injury, um his story is one I
[00:01:32] think you’re going to be encouraged by. Drew, thanks for being here today. Thank you, Kevin. I’m happy to be here. Yeah,
[00:01:39] I’m super excited. Um, you know, when you emailed me first, you were like, “Hey, I want to I want I’m going to be
[00:01:45] in California and I’m going to be um I want to connect and and uh you kind of caught me off guard. I wasn’t prepared
[00:01:51] for that.” Um, but you you were bold enough to reach out and say, “Hey, I’d love to connect while we’re here and um
[00:01:58] go to church.” We ended up being able to go to church together and spend some time together with your fiance, uh,
[00:02:04] Justice. And that was a huge blessing. Um, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you and you just have a really um, like
[00:02:11] I said, kind of a tenacious attitude. I can tell you have you kind of got this big smile on your face, but you’ve got a
[00:02:17] heart that’s like,
[00:02:24] um, your face like flint um, to be able to deal with some of the trials coming your way. And you you are you’re you’re
[00:02:31] a warrior um, for what you’ve been through. So, I just appreciate your example and your uh determination to
[00:02:36] walk with the Lord despite what you’ve gone through. Yeah. Honestly, I think it’s it’s all
[00:02:42] the Lord that brought me through it. And I’m blessed by every day that he’s given me. And I think it it really shifted the
[00:02:50] priorities in my life from being me centered to him centered. And uh it’s
[00:02:56] really been impactful on everything that I do every day. Yeah, absolutely. Um so
[00:03:03] tell us a little bit about take for our listeners um take us back to how you grew up and you know ultimately uh share
[00:03:10] with us your testimony and what what’s happened and what you’ve been through. Yeah. So, I grew up in Manhattan,
[00:03:17] Kansas. And I was um I was a outgoing child growing up and
[00:03:25] uh I always had a passion for cars and cars was just what I loved most of
[00:03:31] anything in the world. And then I found a dream job. I became the curator of a
[00:03:38] car collection that’s in Manhattan, Kansas. And um that was a ton of fun. I
[00:03:46] was taking pictures one day with a photographer who we invited to just
[00:03:51] check out the collection and he said, “Hey, next weekend I’m going to this
[00:03:56] racetrack. Would you want to come along? It would be a lot of fun.” And he promised uh some like one really cool
[00:04:04] car that I was super excited to ride in. So I said, “Sure.” and went over to the
[00:04:10] racetrack that is actually in the city I now live in which is Topeka and
[00:04:16] uh so Topeka Kansas and then um I rode in that car was a lot of fun and then I
[00:04:23] was invited into another car and a couple laps in we ended up crashing and
[00:04:29] that changed my life forever. So how fast were you going when you when you
[00:04:34] guys crashed? So, I think we I don’t know exactly, but
[00:04:40] I know the car was going around 100 120 when we hit the
[00:04:47] grass and then I think we just slid into the wall and it was a pretty long slide,
[00:04:53] but we ended up it would have been near that. Now, how old were you when this
[00:04:59] happened? I was 22. So, this was six years ago now, actually. Wow.
[00:05:06] So, you’re 28. Yep. Now, um give us a little bit of background as far as, you
[00:05:12] know, um what was your relationship with God like before this happened? Um what was your attitude towards God? Were you
[00:05:18] a believer at the time? I was and I had been growing up. Um I
[00:05:25] think I was one of the lukewarm believers that Jesus does not like um
[00:05:32] or doesn’t appreciate. And uh and I think this was a dramatic change that
[00:05:38] really made me alter the way I see Jesus and he’s now the Lord and priority of my
[00:05:46] life. So um yeah, I think it was his call knocking at my door and uh it was a
[00:05:55] pretty dramatic call if you ask me, but it’s uh you know it got my attention. So
[00:06:02] yeah. Yeah, for sure. I mean, you can’t that’s not something that’s you’re gonna easily be able to ignore. Um, so when
[00:06:11] you were growing up and you said, “Hey, I was lukewarm and all.” You know, I have a lot of I think for a lot of us,
[00:06:18] um, when we’re younger, especially in our teenage years, going into our 20s, there’s a lot going on in our minds, and
[00:06:24] we don’t necessarily have Jesus as a focus, um, and maybe his priorities as a focus. And so um what so so when you say
[00:06:34] you know that wasn’t my main focus but you were still a Christian um did your are your parents Christians were did you
[00:06:40] grow up in a Christian home? Yeah my my mom is very Christian. I
[00:06:46] think my dad is kind of on the fence with it. But I think as a whole it was a
[00:06:51] good family growing up and uh and I had good examples and we went to church most
[00:06:57] Sundays which was nice but then I got into college and obviously I think a lot
[00:07:03] of people kind of drift away at that time because you have other priorities and church just doesn’t make that list.
[00:07:09] So, um I don’t think there was anything about me that was abnormal from my
[00:07:14] friends, that type of thing, but it was uh yeah, it it was the type of thing
[00:07:21] that Jesus would have spit out cuz doesn’t like the lukewarm. Yeah. Now, do
[00:07:27] you have brothers and sisters? I have one sister. She’s two years younger than me. Okay. Okay. And um so when this
[00:07:36] accident happened um tell us tell our listeners uh what the what happened. What was the diagnosis for you as far as
[00:07:43] what kind of injuries did you sustain? So I um was in a coma for about two
[00:07:51] weeks or so. And so I don’t remember anything.
[00:07:56] Everything was just black as soon as we hit the wall. I don’t remember even crashing. I just woke up a few weeks
[00:08:03] later and I was like, where am I and why? But I wasn’t speaking. So the diagnosis was I broke my dislocated my
[00:08:11] right shoulder, broke a couple of ribs on my right side. I uh broke my collar
[00:08:19] bone and then uh ended up I had atlanto occipital dislocation
[00:08:27] which they refer to as um internal decapitation. So my brain and spinal
[00:08:36] cord were only connected by muscles and the brain stem essentially. So basically
[00:08:44] beheaded but not not fully just that seems that seems about the the worst
[00:08:49] possible thing that could possibly happen without you actually dying. It was it was close. Um I think there’s
[00:08:56] maybe a few worst things but uh at the time you know I was in a coma so I
[00:09:02] didn’t know any different and just woke up. Um, but I also had a traumatic brain
[00:09:07] injury, which I didn’t think much of that, but I think that’s had a significant impact in my ability to get
[00:09:15] back to functioning as normal. And so, um, you know, normally I would
[00:09:22] think that a person would be paralyzed from that. How are you still walking? That’s a good question. I I ask that a
[00:09:30] lot of days and a lot of people ask that, but I think it’s simply by the
[00:09:35] grace of God because there’s no other way to explain it. Um, almost every everyone that treated
[00:09:43] me or nursed me back to health, they said that I should have some kind of
[00:09:50] cognitive impairment, physical impairment, or be dead. Honestly, uh my
[00:09:56] chances of actually making it to the hospital through the ambulance to get to
[00:10:02] the hospital was like less than 20%. And uh and then making it through the
[00:10:09] hospital was a little higher but still not very high and you know here I am. So
[00:10:17] Wow. So were the doctors that worked on you uh obviously you probably had specialists working on your spine and
[00:10:23] everything. They had to be specialists with the spine. Were did they come out and say that they were surprised that
[00:10:28] you were actually walking? What What were they What was their attitude towards this?
[00:10:33] I don’t know if they said that exactly. Um I do know they’re they were
[00:10:39] thoroughly impressed with just how well I recovered and obviously beyond excited
[00:10:44] that things worked out how they did. Um I don’t know. I I believe God was with
[00:10:50] me that whole way through. um ambulance ride, you know, you hit one
[00:10:56] small bump and could have been the end of me. So, yeah. Wow, that is crazy. Um
[00:11:02] so, you know, looking back on it, you’re able to you’re you’re saying, “Hey, God was with me through this and and these
[00:11:09] sorts of things.” Um was there a point when you you know, you woke up, you’re going through this. um what’s going
[00:11:16] through your mind as far as you know your relationship with God all of a sudden took on a very um a much more
[00:11:23] focused attitude it it it becomes very top of mind to you what’s going through
[00:11:29] your mind that causes you you know cuz some people might get really bitter and they might decide you know I’m going to
[00:11:35] go the other direction I’m not going to go towards God I’m going to go away from God if God’s loving he would never have let this happen to me why what was going
[00:11:42] through your mind that made you decide to kind of just full focus on God and
[00:11:47] and and uh how did that what was that like? It wasn’t immediate and it wasn’t like I
[00:11:55] got up and immediately I was like, “Wow, you know, I’ve had this profound
[00:12:00] encounter with God. It was more slow u
[00:12:05] just came in over time.” And you’re right, I I think I could have gone the
[00:12:10] other way, but I knew when I was in that hospital, I didn’t know exactly what was
[00:12:17] happening to me, but I was just I knew that I was going to make it through. And something in inside of me was just
[00:12:24] telling me that. And I don’t even know what it was, but it was just I knew that it was all going to work out for my good
[00:12:30] and his glory, honestly. So, I I knew that that was going to be the case. Um,
[00:12:37] but even when I was in the hospital, it wasn’t until maybe
[00:12:43] 2022 I started to really realize that this life is not mine. It’s it’s his.
[00:12:51] So, and so was there a point, do you remember? Was it just these gradual step by steps? Were you reading the Bible in
[00:12:57] the hospital? Was somebody reading to you? Was anybody ministering to you as you were going through that? There was
[00:13:04] ministers at that hospital. It was Madonna Rehab Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. And they are um a
[00:13:12] Christian-based rehab hospital. And I know they had ministers at the hospital. Um I recall
[00:13:21] them coming in and praying with me a few times. Uh, but I don’t think there was
[00:13:27] anything specifically and I don’t think I was really reading until a full year later anything to be
[00:13:35] honest. But it was uh yeah, it was it’s it was slow and
[00:13:43] over time I just I started reading the Bible. Um my first time through it was
[00:13:49] in 2020 21 I think and
[00:13:55] uh that felt like a mountain of a of a thing to get through but you know I made
[00:14:02] it through obviously you know some parts are tedious but
[00:14:07] yeah Leviticus and so forth also definitely lost in Leviticus. Yeah.
[00:14:13] But but it’s okay because I I’ve read it a few times since and each time it just
[00:14:18] gets clearer and clearer. I I completely agree with that. I I remember the first time I was reading Leviticus, I was
[00:14:25] like, “Okay, I’m just going to force myself to read through this.” Exactly. But then but then there’s so much
[00:14:31] interesting stuff in there that if you didn’t take the time to read it, um you know, I it’s almost like God is like,
[00:14:37] “This is for those who really want to know. Let’s see if he can do this.” Yeah. Exactly. Yeah, it’s it’s profound
[00:14:44] just what it’s telling us. And you know, God’s laying out these sacrifices need
[00:14:52] to happen because, you know, to atone for the sins that you are committing or
[00:14:58] we are committing against God, here’s the penalty that has to be paid. And
[00:15:03] ultimately that Leviticus is pointing to Jesus in the end and him being the ultimate
[00:15:10] sacrifice for for what we need to atone for what we’ve done wrong.
[00:15:16] Absolutely. So So as you’re um you’re growing in your walk with the Lord um
[00:15:22] what did you feel like you know there’s a lot of people that go through traumatic injuries. They’re pretty
[00:15:28] significant and um you know obviously you have a perspective on life that only
[00:15:34] somebody who goes through something like that can have some somebody who goes through this kind of um pain uh both
[00:15:42] physical, emotional and mental. Um what what do you know about going through
[00:15:49] that that would let’s say there’s somebody who’s listening and they’ve been through something traumatic or
[00:15:54] they’re going through something traumatic. Um, what do you know about that that can
[00:16:02] that what kind of counsel would you give them or encouragement would you give them if they’re really struggling
[00:16:07] um to just find hope in a very hard and
[00:16:13] difficult uh you know recovery and situation like that?
[00:16:19] Yeah, I don’t know exactly what I would say to them without knowing a specific
[00:16:24] uh injury and that type of thing, but speaking from my perspective, I think ultimately what God was doing is he was
[00:16:32] smashing my pride, uh because I had a lot of pride in myself and he was
[00:16:38] ultimately saying that his grace was not a fluke. It’s not just some thing that
[00:16:44] we talk about or is on bumper stickers, but it’s real and alive every single
[00:16:50] day. And uh that’s that’s what I’d say is just
[00:16:57] the grace of God will transcend any trials or u difficulties that we can
[00:17:05] experience. And you know, you may not grasp that at the time and I completely understand that. But, you know, getting
[00:17:12] some perspective on it 6 years down the road, now I have a much more full
[00:17:18] understanding of what’s happened and exactly why it happened. So, what was the hardest thing
[00:17:26] about that path that you had to walk? What was the hardest thing about it that
[00:17:31] um that you know other people are going to go through too? Uh looking back, um
[00:17:38] how were you? Well, first, what what was the hardest thing about it?
[00:17:45] Um, well, I when I was in the hospital, the rehab hospital, I was not speaking.
[00:17:52] Um, I kind of I don’t know why I couldn’t speak. I just knew for a fact
[00:17:58] that I couldn’t speak. Um, and then one day that all just changed and I just
[00:18:06] spoke like normal. And everyone was so surprised and I was like why am I not
[00:18:11] just talking and that kind of altered everyone’s perspective on it mostly mine
[00:18:18] because I was like this is this is just so strange and you know like I I had the
[00:18:26] brain injury so I didn’t know exactly what was happening all the time and I wasn’t constantly worried about things
[00:18:32] but I was just taking the days as they came and trying to understand things a
[00:18:38] little better. Uh you know, minute by minute exactly what was happening. And
[00:18:45] uh yes. Uh so would you say that? So what what was the cognitive damage that
[00:18:52] happened as far as um how did that affect you? What what what changed?
[00:18:59] I didn’t have as much. I was in school at the
[00:19:06] time. So, I was a senior in college and I had one semester left and when I went
[00:19:14] back to school uh the next I skipped that whole spring
[00:19:19] semester and went to back to school in the fall. And when I went back, I needed
[00:19:24] a lot more help and I didn’t know half of what was happening honestly. Uh, but
[00:19:31] I made it through and that’s it’s all good now. I have a
[00:19:36] feeling that my teachers just kind of gave me a passing grade because they felt bad for me or something. But it was
[00:19:44] they all I I my calculus teacher did that for me and I didn’t even have a a brain
[00:19:50] injury. I’m pretty sure he just let me he let me pass out of desperation. This
[00:19:55] poor kid. Yeah. Yeah, that’s fair. That’s probably what mine would have been like, too. But, you know, they had
[00:20:02] a reason to give me one. So, yeah. Well, that’s um And
[00:20:08] so, when navigating through that, as far as, you know, one of the questions that people, I’m sure, come up with is right,
[00:20:14] you said that God was dealing with my pride. Um, he was helping me to be more humble.
[00:20:20] Um, you know, and somebody might look at that and go, gosh, uh, that’s a little extreme. I don’t know if I want God to
[00:20:27] deal with my pride like that. You know, I don’t know if I want to go through that. And yet, we do see we do see stuff
[00:20:33] like that in the Bible um pretty frequently where God allows a person to
[00:20:39] go through something like that. Um how would you respond to somebody who says, “Geez, that doesn’t seem very loving to
[00:20:45] me from the perspective of God, uh that he would allow me to go through something like this in order to get, you
[00:20:52] know, improve my character.” What what are your thoughts on that? I think it is uh it’s tough to grasp
[00:21:00] that fully because I don’t think God is punishing me. I don’t think he punishes anyone for for a sin. Uh ultimately
[00:21:08] that’s the devil trying to deceive us into thinking that we’re getting punished. But I think God allowed that
[00:21:15] incident to happen ultimately for his glory. And that glory is shown through
[00:21:22] my change of character. And I think that that is ultimately why he let it happen is
[00:21:29] because he knew this this change would happen and that ultimately I could be a
[00:21:34] force for his kingdom and lead more people to it, you know. Um so I feel
[00:21:41] like that’s why he’s called me or that’s what he’s calling me to at this point.
[00:21:46] So, um, before this happened, what where was your life going as far as what were
[00:21:51] your ambitions and goals contrasted with what your ambitions and goals are today?
[00:21:57] So, before this happened, I was, like I said, I was working at the car museum
[00:22:02] and that was my main priority was just I loved cars. I loved material things, the
[00:22:09] things of this world, uh, that’s run by Satan. He had me distracted, deceived.
[00:22:15] He had me distorting the truth of God’s words. And you know, I thought I was
[00:22:21] living life and that me being good enough was going to get me into heaven. That’s was my full belief. But it wasn’t
[00:22:29] until I figured out that that’s not ultimately what is going to lead me to
[00:22:36] live eternally with him. And uh that’s I think realizing that our life in this
[00:22:44] world is so infantessimally small compared to eternity with him that I
[00:22:52] think you know focusing on this life is not ultimately what we ought to really
[00:22:58] be doing. I mean, obviously we need to because we’re here and it’s important,
[00:23:03] but understanding that this is only a fraction, tiny fraction of what our full
[00:23:10] life with God will be. Yeah. Amen. Amen. There’s uh quite a few
[00:23:16] verses about this in the Bible, too. It says here um 1 Peter 1 24, for all flesh
[00:23:24] is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers and the flower falls, but the word of the
[00:23:29] Lord endures forever. And then also in Psalm um 39, the psalmist says, “Show
[00:23:36] me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days. Let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere
[00:23:42] hand breath. The span of my years is as nothing before before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem
[00:23:48] secure.” Which is so true. Um you know, we often hear about people who have passed away in recently. George Foreman
[00:23:55] just passed away. Um I don’t know if did you see that in the news? Uh I did. Yes.
[00:24:01] Yeah. Uh 76 years old and you know that seems kind of young for for modern day
[00:24:08] here and um he was he was preaching and he has an amazing testimony too of how
[00:24:13] uh God um saved him. And then um uh I think Gene Hackman just recently passed
[00:24:19] away. He was I believe in his 90s. But you hear about people, celebrities passing away and the Bible says, “Hey,
[00:24:26] focus on what is important.” Um Jesus said, “Store up for yourself treasures
[00:24:31] in heaven where moth and rust do not destroy and thieves do not break in and steal.” And um that’s kind of what
[00:24:37] you’re what you’re kind of the theme of what you’re um you feel God is impressing on your heart. Exactly. Yeah.
[00:24:45] How has this impacted your your mom and dad? And uh if I know it’s a little personal, but your mom and dad and your
[00:24:51] sister um how how have they received the way you’re dealing with it? Um how are
[00:24:58] they handling that? I think they’re handling it well. I think they grew closer together when I
[00:25:05] was not really together myself. uh they became more of a family at that
[00:25:12] time and their relationship seemed to grow together a little better. Since
[00:25:18] then they’ve unfortunately separated a little ways, but they’re uh I think
[00:25:25] they’re better friends uh overall. My parents got divorced, but they seem to
[00:25:31] be better friends now. and they it wasn’t anything that happened due to me
[00:25:37] or anything like that. It was just uh it was bound to happen over time. Uh but my
[00:25:44] sister I think took the crash pretty uh badly. I think she had a tough time when
[00:25:50] it happened and um but ultimately I think obviously everyone’s pleased with
[00:25:57] me being able to do anything and
[00:26:02] I watched the video of your testimony um on YouTube and um just seeing the
[00:26:09] progression of you going from completely incapacitated to being able to walk and
[00:26:14] then run down the hall and all those sorts of things. That’s pretty amazing. Um, and are you are there still steps
[00:26:22] that you’re hoping to grow? Is there still a progression you’re you’re hoping to make
[00:26:28] physically? I don’t think so. Um, I’ve I’m actually in better shape than I’ve ever been in my life. And I think it
[00:26:35] kind of changed my focus on, you know, what’s really possible for me.
[00:26:40] Uh I I never ran before that, but now I run pretty often and I’ll run three to
[00:26:48] 10 miles at a time. And uh yeah, it’s it’s quite a ways, but it’s it feels
[00:26:55] good. I like it a lot more. And um they they worried that, you know, my neck
[00:27:01] impact on the running would be an issue, but I haven’t seen that yet. Um, I have
[00:27:08] some leg issues, but you know, that’s kind of just or legs before the
[00:27:14] accident. Nothing to the fault of that. So, it’s uh Yeah, I don’t think I’ve
[00:27:21] been in better shape than I am currently, but I there’s not a lot to
[00:27:27] improve physically. Gotcha. And what about the spine? I’ve heard that the spine doesn’t heal. Is that true? It
[00:27:33] doesn’t regenerate. Um, h what how’s your neck? It has limited movement compared to what
[00:27:41] it was, but I mean I can move it pretty far and it’s that’s a miracle in itself.
[00:27:46] Yeah, they told me that that my they didn’t think it would have this much mobility, but I can move it quite a
[00:27:53] ways, which is nice. That’s fantastic. And so you know where your ambition was
[00:27:59] to um you know you are so into cars and everything and things have changed now
[00:28:05] your perspective on life has changed. What are your hopes? Um how do you hope to minister to people? What is your uh
[00:28:12] goals now? You said you’re writing some books. Yeah. So I I still love cars. I won’t I
[00:28:19] can’t lie about it. I love cars. I think they’re I think they’re so cool and uh
[00:28:25] and I just have always been passionate. What’s your favorite What’s your favorite car? My favorite car? Um I
[00:28:31] currently I love Porsches. I just think they’re the coolest and there’s a few
[00:28:37] specific ones that I love and I know Justice knows them well, but Well, share
[00:28:43] them. Share them. Maybe somebody will listen that has like just some extra Porsches on their hand and they’ll be like, “Hey, I want to bless this guy.”
[00:28:52] I mean, any of the 911s are awesome. Uh the one that is peak for me, I don’t
[00:28:58] think any of any person who has one would share it, but it’s a 918, which is
[00:29:04] over a million dollar car. And that’s that’s the topofthe line Porsche. That
[00:29:11] was kind of the hyper car that came out over a decade ago now. Okay. Believe it
[00:29:17] or not, but it’s still such a cool car. I love that car. Yeah. But like you
[00:29:24] said, I uh perspective has changed a lot and I think I think God has blessed me
[00:29:29] with a mind that is willing to reason and use logic for his glory.
[00:29:37] And I think a huge piece of that actually is your educate for life. Uh I
[00:29:45] found out about you several years ago. My eyes were opened to the truth of
[00:29:53] Genesis and it was completely against everything that I was taught growing up
[00:29:59] in school. And I just had seen a lot of
[00:30:04] crazy stuff going on in the world. in 2020, 2021, the COVID mess and political
[00:30:13] turmoil. Um, and I said, you know, who in this world can I actually
[00:30:19] trust? And then I thought, maybe everything that I’ve been taught growing
[00:30:25] up was wrong. And, you know, Satan’s deceptive. So, he’s got his hands in
[00:30:31] that school indoctrination system. And so maybe everything that I’ve been
[00:30:38] taught is completely false. And once I let that slip in a
[00:30:43] little bit, I found out about Dr. Jason Lyle.
[00:30:49] And then I started listening to a bunch of podcasts with him. One of them was
[00:30:54] yours. And then I started He was one of the first guys I ever interviewed when I
[00:31:00] That was a long time ago. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it was. And I remember that uh No
[00:31:07] God, no science, right? That’s right. That was the title. I was like, “This is a great title.” I stole it from I stole
[00:31:14] it from somewhere else. But no, it’s it’s no god, no science, n o, and then
[00:31:19] it’s kn science, which I was like, that’s
[00:31:24] beautiful. That is Yeah, I loved that. So, I found out about Dr. Lyle. He
[00:31:32] explained Genesis so well just in his stuff. And then I was listening to all
[00:31:38] of your podcasts. So I listened through all of them on like 2x the speed. Uh so
[00:31:46] that’s why you were using them you were using them to take naps and stuff and go to sleep. I was exactly
[00:31:53] you know what what do they call that? There’s a name for that. It’s called uh uh when somebody speaks softly at night
[00:31:58] and they you fall asleep to it. What is that called? like ASMR or something. Yeah, that’s what it’s called. Yeah.
[00:32:04] Yeah. I’m starting a whole new thing that is gonna be You should because of you. It’s called ASMR. Now, I don’t know
[00:32:11] if this is with Kevin Conover. That’s so funny because I don’t I don’t think that’s going to be a good selling
[00:32:18] point for like my my uh homeschool curriculum because the parents are going to be like, “He’s going to put my kid to
[00:32:24] sleep.” And so like I’ll have to use you for a spokesman for the the the other
[00:32:29] but not for the home school curriculum. You should because I would be happy to.
[00:32:35] I So I I listened through all your podcasts and then I thought you kept
[00:32:41] talking about your educateforlife.com and I was like why do I not subscribe to that? So I did and
[00:32:48] watched through all of your courses. uh listen actually I live mostly
[00:32:54] listened to them while I was doing a lot of working out running and stuff and and
[00:32:59] man that just like saw on the Damascus road my eyes all the scales fell off and
[00:33:06] I was like wow this is the truth and ultimately isn’t that incredible how you
[00:33:12] you hear those things and like I know for me when I first heard it like my mind just was like blown I was like oh
[00:33:20] my gosh this is all true. It’s crazy. Yeah. Just your your mind is
[00:33:27] just like no way. It’s almost like God is like like you said, the scales fall off and you just I feel like you can see
[00:33:33] so clearly. And I’ve had many students say that that exact thing. They’ve said everything is so much more clear now. I
[00:33:38] can see things clearly. I understand what’s going on, which is uh it’s incredible the Bible and um the truth of
[00:33:44] God’s word. And it’s just incredible. It is. And like like you said, you I’ll go
[00:33:51] on a long road trip or maybe not that long uh just to city over and you see
[00:33:58] all the landscape here in Kansas and I’m like now I see it as this is all from Noah’s flood. This was carved by the
[00:34:05] worldwide flood in the days of Noah. And that’s uh
[00:34:11] it’s just such a perspective change and it’s it makes it all that much more
[00:34:16] beautiful. But also the wrath of God is more imminent that you know he’s going
[00:34:22] to judge and he did judge in the past and obviously he’s promised he’ll come
[00:34:28] to do that again. Yeah, and we see all these prophecies coming true right now um all over the world, you know, uh
[00:34:35] which also is just very telling um that everything that God says is going to
[00:34:41] happen is going to happen. And Jesus said it, right? He said, “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the
[00:34:47] coming of the son of man.” And um and so we just need to be sharing with people
[00:34:53] um the love of God and making that a priority and um that uh we have to
[00:34:59] confess with our mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead. The Bible says and you will be saved. So um we’re not doomed.
[00:35:07] We have the hope of Christ and nobody needs to be doomed. But God is a good God who judges sin and he cannot be good
[00:35:16] if he doesn’t judge sin. And so, um, people need to know Christ. We all need
[00:35:22] to know Christ. Exactly. Yeah. So, the kids books that you’re you’re
[00:35:28] writing, are they, um, dealing with those kinds of issues? Are they
[00:35:33] apologeticsoriented? Um, or what are they exactly? So, they’re actually inspired by my
[00:35:41] soon-to-be stepdaughter. uh she she can’t really read or write, but I
[00:35:47] designed these books. So, this is one of them. It’s called Scripture Savvy. Oh, that’s awesome. This is the first one.
[00:35:53] It’s the book one Old Testament. And the nice thing is she loves coloring. No
[00:36:00] matter what it is, she’ll color anything. So, each book has a coloring
[00:36:05] page and then it’s got like a little lesson on the page next to it. So, it’ll
[00:36:11] say like this walks through the whole book of Genesis and then it’s got this
[00:36:16] they can learn how to write different words. So, beginning um would be the first word here and then
[00:36:23] it’s got a scripture verse to pair with it and then a coloring page that they can color. That’s great. That’s great.
[00:36:29] So, it’s it’s a good way for them to allow their creativity to shine and get
[00:36:36] a little learning lesson in the way. Uh, but this one’s this one’s a pretty long
[00:36:41] book and I’ve got three of these out now. Um, they’re all Where can people
[00:36:47] where can people buy those if they want to get a copy of that? So, they’re all through Amazon KDP, which uh is super
[00:36:55] convenient. It is. Um, yeah. So, they’re all on Amazon. If you search
[00:37:03] [Music] amazon.comauthorasper dre e wc c- a s p
[00:37:09] r, you’ll find all of my books, which there’s only three right now. At the end of this week, I’ll have two more books.
[00:37:17] Um, one of them actually I just got the proof copy of yesterday. Wow. It’s it’s
[00:37:24] called the Scripture Savvy, the Bible’s Blueprint. And so this kind of explains
[00:37:31] each book of the Bible, kind of an overview, who wrote it, the key figures
[00:37:37] of the book, when the book happened, and a key verse, and then a page for taking
[00:37:44] notes. That’s fantastic. That’s a And that one’s a little higher level. Yeah.
[00:37:50] And so that’s just for people wanting to study the Bible. Um, it doesn’t have a
[00:37:55] ton of room for the notes, but it seemed like a good size. You could carry it with your Bible pretty easily. And
[00:38:02] that’s great. Yeah. And at the very least, I thought at least I’m learning something and creating it. So, it was a
[00:38:09] lot of fun to do. Oh, that’s fantastic. Those are always wonderful resources and and um it homeschool families are
[00:38:17] constantly looking for resources like that. So, um I don’t know if you’ve been to a homeschool convention yet, but you
[00:38:22] should definitely check one out. Oh, you got to you got to do it. Um you’re in Kansas. Actually, I know the person that
[00:38:29] runs the one in Kansas and um her I believe it was her son loved my material
[00:38:36] and um I’ve got to connect you with her because you will be so blessed and she’ll love to hear your story, too. But
[00:38:43] yeah, all ton tons of homeschool families. Get a booth at one of the homeschool conventions. The one in Kansas is um independently run by um
[00:38:51] Christians in Kansas and um and you will
[00:38:56] you’ll sell out of books. I guarantee you you get a whole bunch. Get over there and um they will they will be so
[00:39:02] blessed to have you. Um that’s fantastic. Yeah. Yeah. Wonderful. And um
[00:39:07] for those of you uh listening, uh Drew recently was out here in San Diego and we got to hang out, spent some time
[00:39:13] together, like I said before, and you’re recently engaged. Um, is that right? Yes, that is right. It was the day we
[00:39:20] actually hung out with you. We went to church that morning and then I proposed
[00:39:25] that night at Mount Solidad there in San Diego. I I know. When we when we left,
[00:39:31] uh, Marissa and I were like, “Okay, let’s pray that she says yes.”
[00:39:38] So, she did say yes. That’s so wonderful. That was wonderful. We were a little hesitant to like I wanted to text
[00:39:43] you right away and be like, “Hey, did she say yes?” But I was like, “But what if she said no? I don’t want to I don’t want to like rub it in. That’d be
[00:39:50] horrible. So, I’ll just wait.” We were on pins and we were on pins and needles. Yeah, you were. The um I was
[00:39:58] too. So, it was actually your birthday. That’s right. It was on my birthday. So, yeah.
[00:40:05] I’ll never forget the day that you proposed. You never will forget it. That’s right. That’s hilarious. Well,
[00:40:12] that’s that’s awesome. It was awesome. Yeah. Well, uh, Drew, it’s, uh, been a
[00:40:17] super pleasure having you on. Um, we’re running out of time here, but, um, what what anything you want to share
[00:40:25] with our listeners? Um, just about you, what you’ve been through and your testimony, anything that, um, you know,
[00:40:31] you feel is important to leave our listeners with. Yeah. I think I want listeners to catch
[00:40:37] fire for God above all, seeing that his grace is real and a multiplying force
[00:40:45] that it wrecked my pride and it rooted
[00:40:50] me in the the truth of Genesis. Honestly, uh that really changed my perspective and it drives me to build
[00:40:58] his kingdom through my resources and through the brand that I started Power
[00:41:05] Nap um which is PWR NAP and the creative
[00:41:11] tools uh in mind that he’s put within me and the books and coloring books are
[00:41:18] just a hopefully a blessing to families as resources and uh and ultimately it’ll
[00:41:25] lead people to ask themselves, “What’s my crash?” And ultimately, they’ll chase
[00:41:31] him, too. So, Amen. Amen. Awesome.
[00:41:37] pwrnap.com. Um, uh, my wife loves the eye masks that, uh, Drew also sells,
[00:41:44] Power Nap, which, uh, you know, you were saying earlier, Jesus Christ, even Jesus
[00:41:49] had to nap, right? though. Yeah.
[00:41:54] And this is the There it is. Even Jesus napped. I love it. That’s so awesome. If
[00:42:02] Jesus naps, so don’t feel bad if you have to lie down and take a nap. There’s there’s nothing wrong with that.
[00:42:08] Exactly. That’s exactly right. That’s wonderful. Well, Drew, it’s great uh connecting with you here and being able
[00:42:14] to talk and chat and um I’ll continue to pray for you as God blesses uh you and
[00:42:19] uses you to impact those around you and justice too. And uh I appreciate you continuing to pray for me too and um
[00:42:27] using my voice as a sleep tool. [Laughter]
[00:42:33] No, it’s not just for that. I I truly No, I know. I know. I’m just playing.
[00:42:39] No, it’s it’s a real blessing and honestly everything you do has been awesome and thank you for meeting with
[00:42:45] me back in January uh when I got to see you. That was awesome. It was as much a
[00:42:51] blessing to me as it as it was to you. So, um thank you for those of you listening. Uh my website again is
