Happy Labor Day!

Did you know the first Labor Day in the United States was celebrated with a parade in New York City on September 5, 1882. Shortly after the state of Oregon approved legislation making it a national holiday in 1887. Today many Americans celebrate a day off with family or friends enjoying BBQ’s, freedom, parades, camp trips or the beach closing out the final day of summer.

What does the Bible say about work? In the very beginning in Genesis 2:15 God assigned work to Adam & Eve, “the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. It was God’s plan for mankind to have job duties and take care of and tend to God’s creation. We are also commanded to work as though we are serving the Lord. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. Colossians 3:23. Have a blessed Labor Day and enjoy the goodness of God and His provision.
