Archaeological Biblical Tours at the British Museum — with Jill Baker
Ever wondered how museum artifacts illuminate Scripture for Christian education and homeschool curriculum? In this episode of The Educate for Life Podcast, host Kevin Conover talks with Jill Baker, a London-based guide who leads biblical worldview tours at the British Museum (and the Natural History Museum), connecting creation science, Christian apologetics, and history in ways that strengthen Christian parenting and student faith.
Walking Through History with Scripture in Hand
Meet Jill Baker, founder of Biblical Tours in London, who has spent years guiding believers through galleries that showcase evidence aligned with the Bible—Assyrian reliefs, Babylonian inscriptions, and artifacts tied to the lives of kings and prophets. Jill’s tours are designed to help students, homeschool families, and church groups see how archaeology, language, and geography corroborate the biblical record—an essential boost in today’s culture of skepticism.
In this conversation, Jill explains how the British Museum’s collections—from Nineveh and Lachish to Babylon—interface with key passages in Kings, Isaiah, Daniel, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Jonah. Parents and educators will appreciate her accessible, faith-driven approach to integrating faith and science with museum learning, building discernment and confidence in the biblical text. The result? A richer, more resilient biblical worldview for the whole family.
Key Takeaways
- How major Assyrian and Babylonian artifacts illuminate stories in 2 Kings, Isaiah, Daniel, Ezra, and Nehemiah.
- Why the Nineveh galleries matter for understanding Jonah and the rapid repentance of the city.
- Ways to use museum visits (or photos and videos) to teach apologetics in homeschool and church settings.
- Practical tips for turning archaeological finds into gospel conversations and classroom activities.

[00:00:01] thanks a lot for being here this evening my name is Kevin Conover and I’m your host on educate for Life radio we’re broadcasting down here in Southern
[00:00:08] California on kpra 1210 a.m. and we’re also on FM 106.1 in North County but of
[00:00:15] course we’re all over the world as well and that’s good news because uh my guest this evening is uh from across the pond
[00:00:23] uh as people say she’s in London and uh happened to bump into my website uh shot
[00:00:30] an email out and she is actually doing biblical tours in the British museum over in London and sharing all the
[00:00:38] evidence for the truth of the Bible from archaeology and history uh and it’s just
[00:00:44] phenomenal what she’s doing I I thought I was so excited to hear about what she’s doing that I asked if she would be willing to be a guest and uh Jill I just
[00:00:50] want to say thank you for being here oh no it’s absolutely my pleasure thank you for inviting me a so exciting um tell us
[00:00:58] how long have you been giving tours in the British museum um I started doing tours in
[00:01:05] 2019 um I had done a few smaller tours um just as I was practicing and then I
[00:01:12] started um as it were my own business really just to try and promote it to um
[00:01:21] see if I could get um people to come along to see the evidence and also in
[00:01:27] 2019 I had the wonderful opport Unity to go to Israel with um I don’t know if you
[00:01:34] know Joel Kramer yeah uhuh so I went on his tour
[00:01:40] because um you visit in Israel you visit a lot of the sites the archaeological
[00:01:46] sites that the artifacts that are on display in the British museum come from
[00:01:52] so it just gives an extra layer of evidence when you’ve actually been to
[00:01:57] the archaeological site itself yeah absolutely I know for me um hearing
[00:02:04] about the archaeology visiting places I it it just is incredibly uh just increases your
[00:02:10] confidence just a hundredfold yes it’s things like even
[00:02:16] the Topography is accurate so when you read through the narrative in the Bible
[00:02:23] you can see that it’s an eyewitness account because the description of the
[00:02:29] layout the land and where certain places and things are just lends to firsters
[00:02:36] eyewitness account which is amazing yeah that’s phenomenal now um
[00:02:42] You can you tell us a little bit about um your background before we hop into some of these evidences in the British museum um can you tell us a little bit
[00:02:48] about your background as far as were you brought up in a Christian family I know that um there has been a decrease in the
[00:02:55] amount of people that consider themselves Christians over in Britain um and I’m just curious about you know how
[00:03:02] you grew up and and came to know uh Christ um I grew up as an atheist as a
[00:03:09] very strong atheist and I love the theory of evolution um I had a an
[00:03:17] an issue in terms of um having my son
[00:03:23] christened which led me to a toddler group in a church a church church
[00:03:29] toddler group where um they they put on
[00:03:34] um discussions that that try to lead you
[00:03:39] to asking the the fundamental questions of about where does Grandma go when she
[00:03:45] dies those kind of questions and I went into one of these groups and they asked
[00:03:51] the question was Jesus Lord lunatic or a liar and we’ve been given these
[00:03:58] workbooks to work through and I just threw mine behind me because
[00:04:03] I said I’m done he couldn’t be a lunatic and he wasn’t a liar so he can only be
[00:04:10] the Lord wow and you you were so astonished that you threw your book yes because
[00:04:18] there were no other questions to ask wow that’s fantastic huh so that just really
[00:04:24] confronted your atheism right there and you just decided wow this is true
[00:04:31] um it was it was a little bit more of a journey because I still had to
[00:04:38] um meet my sins and accept that they were sins and I needed a savior and that
[00:04:45] Jesus Christ and what he had done for me on the cross meant that I could go free
[00:04:52] and have a full relationship with my heavenly father through the shed blood
[00:04:58] of Christ and and it also led me to change very
[00:05:03] dramatically wow which wasn’t necessarily liked by everybody because um you changed
[00:05:11] dramatically and one of the things that I first had to confront was my belief in
[00:05:19] evolution um and the Lord instantly led me to Answers in Genesis and I was blown
[00:05:25] away because no one ever tells you the amount of actual evidence there is that
[00:05:30] Darwin’s theory um just never stands up it doesn’t stand
[00:05:36] up and if you go to the Natural History Museum the Natural History Museum actually where I do creation tours um
[00:05:44] destroys the theory of evolution and Paul Charles Darwin has sat on the he
[00:05:50] sat on the stairs um bless him and he’s got nothing to say
[00:05:55] because the museum was created by it was built by to Richard Owen um to house the
[00:06:03] creations of God to showcase the creations of God and everything’s in its kind there there’s no galleries of
[00:06:09] intermediate fossils it’s um fabulous place I love it
[00:06:15] so you’re giving tours both in the British Museum and in the Natural History Museum yeah now are these are
[00:06:21] these tours endorsed by the actual museums themselves or is this something that you do and you invite people to
[00:06:28] come and then you give the tour is this something that you’re doing independently or is this something you’re doing in with collaboration with
[00:06:34] the museum um the museums have a little bit of a problem um the British museum
[00:06:40] has an enormous amount of biblical artifacts probably in the most in any
[00:06:47] Museum in the world W and so have to write scriptures on the wall because
[00:06:53] they cannot describe what they’ve got and put it on display without referencing the Bible which actually
[00:06:59] makes my job easier they also they sell lots of books because they know um that
[00:07:06] Christians go there to see the evidence so they actually sell tour guides themselves from like Clive Anderson and
[00:07:12] Brian Edwards they sell day one um books on the Bible because there’s nothing
[00:07:18] they can do and actually even though it’s a secular Museum um oh they do preach the gospel
[00:07:26] really well because they there’s nothing can do with the evidence so so yeah go
[00:07:33] ahead I was just going to say the Natural History Museum it’s it’s very different and not many um Christians
[00:07:40] would even think of going through that but both of the museums are actually financed by our tax money so they can’t
[00:07:49] keep us out or they can’t keep me out and I’m quite polite they can’t keep me out and actually what’s really
[00:07:55] interesting is I use I use an iPad and I use videos and I often um get staff
[00:08:01] asking me what I’m doing and then especially the dog that turns into the whale they just say oh it’s a very old
[00:08:10] display and yet it’s actually supposed to be the best evidence for evolution oh
[00:08:15] goodness that’s trouble well um I love it I love what you’re doing so do you
[00:08:21] how do people respond um you know you’re giving these tours and um as you’re
[00:08:27] going through the evidence give us an example of some of the evidences that kind of uh for you get excited about
[00:08:34] sharing it um because you know that the people are going to react well to what they’re learning is there any that come
[00:08:40] to your mind that you are kind of your favorite displays to talk about um I approach doing a tour in the
[00:08:48] British museum very differently from other tour guides other other tour guides and other biblical tour guides
[00:08:55] like to talk about the history of the artifact where it was found um and a little bit of how it relates to
[00:09:01] the Bible whereas I actually like to Champion the word of God and so I introduce an item say um
[00:09:11] the Rosetta Stone which has three different languages on and the Egyptian
[00:09:16] hieroglyphs couldn’t be understood until um it was deciphered by using the three
[00:09:25] languages knowing the demotic um Egyptian and the Greek they could then work out the hieroglyphs and again I
[00:09:33] point straight to um the Tower of Babel dispersion because we we we follow
[00:09:39] through with um the ancient Chinese language did
[00:09:45] you so we do look at some of the I don’t know if you’ve seen this book yes yeah I’m familiar with this so
[00:09:54] again when we’re talking about the the the Bible from Genesis to Revelation is
[00:10:00] true and we should be finding all sorts of evidence in language in genetics in
[00:10:07] everything so we get to um the North American Gallery is quite an interesting
[00:10:13] one because of how the Europeans came over the bearing
[00:10:18] strapes and that was um through an ice Bridge during the Ice Age that followed
[00:10:24] Noah’s flood there was a thousand kilometer ice Bridge that um they could
[00:10:30] walk across to get into North America and then I use a video presentation from
[00:10:38] Dr Nathaniel Jansen on um why chromosome genetic um
[00:10:45] research that takes everyone or follows the male line through to Noah’s Three
[00:10:52] Sons just four and a half thousand years ago and he’s got peer-reviewed papers so
[00:10:57] we’re using genetics we’re using um the scripture and we’re matching everything
[00:11:03] up with the displays in the um in the museum as well so you talk about
[00:11:10] creation in the British museum you talk about um so share with our listeners um
[00:11:15] so you you referenced there the Chinese language I know that um you can find a
[00:11:21] lot of the information in Genesis within the Chinese uh language pictographs um
[00:11:27] especially from the from the ancient language moving forward is that actually in the British museum also no what I do
[00:11:34] is um because I use say um I I wear an
[00:11:40] iPad so I’ll just show you my other iPad I wear an iPad um as I go around and I
[00:11:46] have um the attendees have a Whisperer set so if I’m playing extra biblical evidence
[00:11:54] like videos from Israel or any extra stuff I display it at on um the iPad and
[00:12:02] then I can play it through um so only the people um can hear the audio but it
[00:12:09] adds to the extra the extra evidence so it’s
[00:12:14] extra biblical evidence as we go around as well gotcha okay and um
[00:12:22] so so if people want to get more information about what you do I I know
[00:12:28] um you sent me this beautiful PDF that you’ve outlined with so much of the evidence inside the British museum um
[00:12:35] and you have a website biblical tours. co.uk are people able to get a copy of
[00:12:40] that PDF um I’m happy to send it to anyone because
[00:12:45] um I’ve got also a YouTube um Channel which is just biblical tours one word
[00:12:52] it’s not money um it’s not Mone monetized um but it is all of the I feel
[00:12:58] filmed the tour that I did with Joel he gave me permission and I just filmed him with my my
[00:13:05] phone and we go sort of all the places you’re not allowed to go you know the West Bank and go on heps and and
[00:13:12] everywhere and lovely places like sheum so you can actually also see on um my
[00:13:19] YouTube channel and I’m happy to send the biblical evidence to the British museum guide is very large because I was
[00:13:27] asked to put the references in um a searchable reference in by a gentleman
[00:13:34] who recently K monitor um which I did which makes it about two over 200 pages
[00:13:40] long simply because you can click on the reference it takes you straight to the biblical passage because people
[00:13:46] generally don’t know um not generally but a lot of people are not very
[00:13:52] well-versed especially with the Old Testament and um so it’s nice for them
[00:13:59] to be able to go and see um the story of Noah you you know
[00:14:04] read the chapters of Noah so that you understand that it was a global flood
[00:14:10] that has to have left evidence which we find in the Natural History Museum um
[00:14:16] and also Jonah we have in the in the British museum we have the most fabulous evidence for Jonah um I was going to ask
[00:14:24] you about that because you you mentioned in the in the email um you said that
[00:14:30] your youngest son was 10 and he saw the Nineveh Gallery in the British Museum
[00:14:36] and that um basically gave him unshakable confidence in Biblical
[00:14:42] history in the Bible um tell us a little bit about that what happened there
[00:14:47] um do you know a um a fabulous gentleman called Dr Jay Smith yes yeah I know him
[00:14:54] from his um work work with uh Muslims yes he
[00:14:59] um he did tours when he was um speaking at Speaker’s Corner which he did 25
[00:15:06] years he would also do tours in trying to take the Muslims especially the
[00:15:11] Iranians into the British museum to show them the evidence for the Bible and I
[00:15:17] was um I went on a couple of his tours and then I would advertise people to
[00:15:24] come on a J Smith tour and absolutely loved it and my son when he was my
[00:15:29] youngest son when he was 10 um in the Nineveh Gallery there’s a
[00:15:35] Nineveh gallery and um the reliefs that are on the wall now if you imagine it’s
[00:15:41] the wallpaper that sinak had in his Palace so it’s horrendous scenes of
[00:15:49] beheading and um soldiers being paid for the heads that they collect because it’s
[00:15:55] supposed to terrify you on your way to meet the king oh wow now this has been blackened by
[00:16:02] the fire that in the three chapters of the Prophet naam he actually predicts
[00:16:09] that there will be it will be burnt by fire and then flooded out so upstairs in
[00:16:14] the Mesopotamian Gallery we’ve got the chronicles of Babylon that describe how
[00:16:20] the um the river was was moved so that it would go in and actually flood the
[00:16:26] palace but also that it would be set fir to and it’s it’s very black it it’s very
[00:16:33] evident that it was set on fire and for my 10-year-old son he said um I won’t be
[00:16:40] able to remember everything I’ve seen but nothing can shake my faith now
[00:16:46] and he’s he’s now 21 and he’s um
[00:16:52] evangelizing and loves the Lord along with my other two sons and really it was
[00:16:58] when when I came to Faith and had to um find the evidence for
[00:17:05] myself creation evidence archaeological evidence because I was about 35 so I was
[00:17:12] quite old when I came to Faith um I took my three sons they went to lectures by
[00:17:19] Stuart Burgess sort of they went to all sorts of places that would be um Godly
[00:17:27] men teaching them as three sons um that the Bible is true from Genesis to
[00:17:34] Revelation and that has led all of them to a firm foundation in trusting not
[00:17:41] only in Jesus as their lord and savior but that his word is trustworthy and and
[00:17:49] true From First to Last Word because we’ve got so much evidence that just
[00:17:55] just backs it up yeah that’s Fant fantastic it’s incredible um and so so how many tours
[00:18:04] do you give you know in a day in a week uh in a month how how often do you do this um it’s quite difficult actually in
[00:18:12] the UK um
[00:18:17] because quite a lot of people don’t see the relevance in the especially the Old
[00:18:24] Testament being true or trustworthy so it’s especially a lot of the churches so
[00:18:30] it’s quite difficult to actually find people who want to to take a tour um so
[00:18:37] I actually work as a care assistant as my like bread and butter
[00:18:43] money as it were and then I do tours when I’m asked to do tours um now when I
[00:18:49] am showing people that the you can trust the Bible in all
[00:18:55] areas sometimes people have actually cherry picked their Bible and only like it a certain
[00:19:01] way so they might not actually appreciate their um way of viewing the
[00:19:09] Bible that it can be challenged by actual physical evidence that might go
[00:19:15] away go against what they have been taught and what they think themselves so
[00:19:21] it’s very Niche I’m teaching that the Bible is true yes that’s fantastic we need more
[00:19:27] people doing that um well um tell us about you know something that’s interesting on on your
[00:19:34] list of things is King King hezekiah’s mural um I know about uh you know
[00:19:39] hezekiah’s tunnel and I even know about the sarab prism tell us what is King Hezekiah mural um the one found in the
[00:19:47] palace at Nineveh oh um we have got um I’ve just got to go
[00:19:54] down onto my notes so there’s a mural what we have is they found these like
[00:20:00] giant human headed um Bull type creatures that were protecting um
[00:20:06] Nineveh and in between underneath their stomach there is uniform writing and one
[00:20:14] of them has um according to this mural srib um it describes how um King
[00:20:23] Hezekiah paid um a tribute to tribute money PID to try
[00:20:29] to pay sakri off um with a donation um and then sakb um goes away
[00:20:39] because um his ninev is being attacked by um the kushite king tahaka and then
[00:20:48] when he comes back um well what the actual mural it doesn’t
[00:20:55] say anything other than he came and he went now sakb had conquered 46 other
[00:21:03] cities of the Plains and in the previous room with there’s a very large gallery
[00:21:09] for um the city called Lees which was like a protective City
[00:21:17] before you get to um Jerusalem it should be the one that holds everyone back
[00:21:23] before you get there and that was what um Lees was what sakb actually had
[00:21:30] to make a depiction of and and we’ve got the British museum has these um reliefs
[00:21:39] in great detail really he wanted Jerusalem and so when he returns and
[00:21:44] doesn’t and doesn’t take Jerusalem um that’s always been a mystery to historians because it doesn’t
[00:21:51] make any sense why after you’ve taken 46 other cities why don’t you get Jerusalem
[00:21:59] you’ve told them you’re coming you’ve written on sb’s um he’s got um the thing
[00:22:06] called the tayor prism where he has actually written out um what he’s what
[00:22:12] he’s what he’s doing and he says he has got King Hezekiah trapped like a bird in a
[00:22:17] cage which is pretty convincing that you going to take Jerusalem as easy as
[00:22:23] you’ve done the other 46 cities yeah now it’s only the Bible that tells us what
[00:22:30] actually happened so the reference in the Bible is
[00:22:35] um that um 2 Kings 1930 uh 2 Kings 19 2 Kings
[00:22:43] 35-36 according to the Bible in the middle of the night the angel of the Lord came down and destroyed
[00:22:50] 185,000 of sakib’s men therefore he had no choice but to return to Assyria and
[00:22:57] embarrassed and unable to explain what happened but these facts aren’t find on
[00:23:02] the mural as the murals are are like bragging accounts um now the historians they have
[00:23:09] a dilemma and um so what they said and one of them actually the explanations
[00:23:16] they give is one of them was actually by the historian Herodotus is that um mice
[00:23:22] ate the weapons one had one explan was that
[00:23:28] there was a very local plague and on doing the research there was no plague rats at that time in in Israel and that
[00:23:39] the other only other explanation would that mice would be eating because they were using slings and bows and arrows
[00:23:45] but that didn’t account for the swords The Siege engines and the everything else but the um secular historians just
[00:23:54] don’t know what to make of it we only find the truth and as recorded in the Bible and when we know how um the angel
[00:24:02] of the Lord or the um um when Egypt just before you know Egypt was um sorry
[00:24:09] Israelites were coming out of Egypt and the final judgment was going to be the
[00:24:15] death of the plague was going to be the death of the first sons of firstborn Sons we again see
[00:24:23] um uh the similar scenario of God using the same type of
[00:24:29] actions twice in the Bible yeah it’s incredible
[00:24:35] um I think it’s so amazing that more people don’t know about these things and that like you said you know for your son
[00:24:42] that’s all he needed to see and he was like whoa this is true right and um I I
[00:24:48] run into this all the time because I speak quite a bit on the archaeology um that confirms the Bible also and uh it’s
[00:24:56] just astonishing um so one another one that I thought was really interesting is number 44 you have
[00:25:02] on here where you talk about um the ancient Levant gallery and the
[00:25:08] archaeological evidence from Jericho in Israel um you know the story of Jericho where the walls fall out and they that
[00:25:14] it’s such a famous Bible Story and there’s actual evidence uh that you know
[00:25:20] this is a real event that actually happened can you share a little bit with us about that from um the evidence in
[00:25:27] the British British museum for um Jericho um again I’m using things as
[00:25:34] kind of like signposts so the section on Jericho it has a um a
[00:25:42] grave cave if that makes sense um that Kathleen
[00:25:47] Kenyan um who is an archaeologist who actually dug at Jericho um she also
[00:25:55] excavated this um this cave that is used there so I just
[00:26:00] used that to springboard and show the evidence because I visited Jericho um
[00:26:06] with Joel with Joel Kramer and so um we’ve got pictures from Kenyan um
[00:26:13] northern B and trench one we’ve got photographs of or I show photographs
[00:26:18] that I’ve actually taken of the the burn destruction layer that you find it
[00:26:24] wherever Joshua went if he fired a city go down and you find the burn
[00:26:29] destruction left by Joshua and the archaeologists know that when they go down like Lees has got one um but again
[00:26:38] everything that so um the evidence from kenyon’s um own work shows that the um
[00:26:47] the retaining wall that had on it um a another wall that held the the city in a
[00:26:55] red brick wall that they actually fell to the outside and made a ramp so just
[00:27:00] as it says in um Joshua they then went up the ramp into the City and that’s
[00:27:07] exactly what they found um one of the problems is again is
[00:27:13] um if it’s date sensitive so when Kathleen Kenyan was was actually digging
[00:27:20] there you had to actually get permission to dig probably from the um less favorable people that would want you to
[00:27:28] find sort of biblical attesting evidence but um the
[00:27:35] description that um the um the people of Jericho they they
[00:27:41] brought in their grain um because the Israelites were were having um Passover
[00:27:50] means that we’ve actually got pictures of the burnt grain and because God told
[00:27:56] them not to take any anything um out of there um apart from so um the Lord
[00:28:03] called the city a cursed so only the silver gold vessels of brass and iron were to be consecrated to the Lord and
[00:28:10] they burnt the city and all that was therein if it was someone else that was
[00:28:15] destroying Jericho they would have taken the Grain and they certainly wouldn’t have let them um bring in their Harvest
[00:28:22] because if you’re trying to starve people out you you come in the spring you you come to Siege um a city when
[00:28:30] they’re just about to run out of food yeah wow and so I can show the
[00:28:36] actual evidence of having been there myself and seen it for myself that’s amazing so um for those of
[00:28:45] you listening my guest today is Jill Baker and she is a tour guide in the British museum in London as well as a
[00:28:52] tour guide in the natural uh uh Natural History Museum there um in uh Britain so
[00:28:59] so she’s giving these tours and showing all the evidence for uh Biblical history
[00:29:04] this is biblical tours. co.uk um you can check that out she also has a a huge PDF she can send to you
[00:29:12] that has photos and descriptions and shows where in the Bible this is this is a fantastic uh resource if you want to
[00:29:20] lead a small group or a bible study on this or you even want to speak at a church about it all kinds of incredible
[00:29:26] um evidence here for the truth of the Bible um another one here this is I know we’re hopping all over the place here
[00:29:32] but I think this is interesting the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar’s inscribed a brick um showing the
[00:29:39] evidence that Babylon the the dates that Daniel describes or that represent
[00:29:45] Daniel’s time in Babylon um this is evidence that this really did happen also can you speak a little bit about
[00:29:52] that yes so it’s um there are a couple of galleries downstairs there’s the
[00:29:58] enlightenment Gallery which is um set in
[00:30:03] the style of when it was first built as a Victorian Museum and they’ve got a little bit of everything in there and so
[00:30:10] they have got um several of Nebuchadnezzar’s bricks because being a very proud man he wrote his name on all
[00:30:18] the bricks so he didn’t he get in trouble for that by God he got a he had to go
[00:30:25] crawling around for a while uh I remember he did and then he writes chapter three doesn’t he bless him um
[00:30:32] yes it is it is and then upstairs in the Mesopotamian Gallery uh which is one of
[00:30:38] the most extraordinary galleries because um another thing that we can do with the
[00:30:43] evidence in the museum is actually look at the evidence for particular books so
[00:30:49] Nebuchadnezzar’s forgotten dream you can follow um sort of the head
[00:30:55] of gold which was Nebuchadnezzar then you’ve got the shoulders of um silver
[00:31:01] um um and chest of Silvera which is the mes and persans which is Cyrus Darius
[00:31:07] the me and Cyrus the Great and then we’ve also got Alexander the Great following on and then the Romans and yet
[00:31:15] it’s um some particular evidence that was found um in the ziggurat of er that
[00:31:21] proves that Daniel was written at in the sixth Century not um at a different time
[00:31:29] writing back which is which is what a um some people try and suggest because
[00:31:36] they do not like prophecy that Daniel would be able to be speaking hundreds of years in
[00:31:42] advance so we can actually show just like we were talking about King Hezekiah
[00:31:50] so at the time that King Hezekiah was in Jerusalem we have Isaiah there and I
[00:31:56] show evidence of the Isaiah bullah and the Hezekiah bullah that have been found
[00:32:01] by archaeologists close to each other in the city of David so we we we know that
[00:32:08] um these two people are at the same time and yet we also when we get up to um the
[00:32:15] Persian gallery and we see the fabulous Cyrus cylinder and then we see that um why did
[00:32:23] Cyrus let the Jewish people the Israelites gave them permission to
[00:32:28] anyone to go home um and to um rebuild
[00:32:34] the Temple and the city walls and take all of the temple Goods that had been stolen or by Nebuchadnezzar and we read
[00:32:42] this in Nehemiah um and in Ezra 1 because Ezra one is is written U by King
[00:32:48] Cyrus and if we read Isaiah 45 and
[00:32:53] 46 Isaiah writes to Cyrus by name
[00:32:58] I think it’s I think it’s around 124 years beforehand so we can show the prophecy
[00:33:07] written by Isaiah who we can see is downstairs with King Hezekiah in like 701 BC and then we’re upstairs with um
[00:33:15] King Cyrus who’s also fulfilling the um order of Nebuchadnezzar’s forgotten
[00:33:22] dream and we can see how Isaiah and Daniel work
[00:33:28] together perfectly in how God brings about um just the Majesty of his word
[00:33:37] just it’s just um wonderful to see uh it it gives me boo Goosebumps when you see
[00:33:45] that just hidden under the ground or we have these wonderful bits of evidence
[00:33:52] that um prove the Bible is it’s authentically written by the
[00:33:59] eyewitnesses at the time which were the prophets the Kings the enemies of God um
[00:34:06] just confirm it true from Genesis to Revelation it’s it’s the most fantastic place of I I just think that God has
[00:34:16] purposely um saved everything in the British museum it’s like his treasure
[00:34:22] Storehouse and it’s free for people to to go and see for themselves
[00:34:27] if they want to to go themselves I love it um so do they I know a lot of M
[00:34:35] museums rotate um you know different displays and these sorts of things does
[00:34:41] the British museum you know have like a basement that they keep stuff in and then they bring out stuff that hasn’t
[00:34:46] been out for a while how does that all work um generally I mean the basement must be
[00:34:53] a most fantastic place because it’s got so much stuff that never sees the light of day yeah they generally because of
[00:35:01] the way the museum is set up everything stays in place unless there is an
[00:35:06] exhibition going on somewhere sometimes there’ll be an exhibition in the museum
[00:35:11] itself um which are always fabulous because they bring the artifacts from museums across the world and put them on
[00:35:19] display for you to go and to go and see but generally um they do close the
[00:35:26] gallery is randomly sometimes they might not have enough
[00:35:31] staff um to to be or sometimes if it’s been heavily raining the roof leaks oh no
[00:35:41] building um so we have the ability to change route um on a tour just in case a
[00:35:48] certain Gallery uh is closed um though generally the stuff is is
[00:35:56] always way where it is generally I was taking a class um on archaeology in the
[00:36:02] Bible and I asked the professor at the time I said because he was talking about all these discoveries that have been
[00:36:07] found and how much stuff has been found and dug up and I said uh how how much is
[00:36:12] there that you know isn’t either read like people don’t read it or what because he was saying you know there’s not a lot of people that can read for
[00:36:19] example CA form and and different old languages and and he said um he said we
[00:36:24] have warehouses full of stuff that nobody has ever been able to really look
[00:36:30] into and uh that just uh kind of made me sad I was like what else is out there
[00:36:36] that confirms the truth of the Bible because um we keep finding stuff again and again again that shows that for
[00:36:42] example like you said Isaiah is a real historical figure um King David is a real historical figure and and uh so I
[00:36:49] just think it’s so encouraging to hear what you’re what you’re sharing and um
[00:36:54] and just like it affected your faith and affected my faith and your your kids faith I just feel like um if more people
[00:36:59] knew about this you know they would give the Bible a second thought and say wait a second maybe I need to look into this
[00:37:05] a little further um and it is it’s quite
[00:37:10] confronting because people have preconceived ideas or they have been
[00:37:15] told that oh this is an allegory or this is a story but the people who are saying
[00:37:21] it’s an allegory or story need to understand that when there’s evidence
[00:37:27] that disprove them then they’re not being faithful and
[00:37:32] they will have to give an account so you really need to have searched everywhere to make sure that there is no evidence
[00:37:40] that disproves the word of God before you say that something is an
[00:37:47] allegory you know and I I think with the with the Jonah evidence which um I found
[00:37:54] quite amazing and I just love love taking taking that is that
[00:37:59] um there um are a certain a massive type of carp
[00:38:07] that I’ve only seen referenced in the British museum a giant carp that was in
[00:38:12] The Tigress River and there were these wise men these aulo Who would wear the
[00:38:20] fish skinned cloaks so the head of the fish is they hair wear like a might like
[00:38:27] Deon and the fish the back of the fish goes down as a cloak and in the actual
[00:38:34] um Museum it gives a description of these and it says how um I’m just trying
[00:38:41] to find my reference I’ve got it yeah I’ve got it here on number
[00:38:46] 24 on page 16 oh is it is it I thought it was on a
[00:38:51] bit further hang on a sec I’m up in the Mesopotamian have I got got the um hang
[00:38:57] on a second sorry about this um it’s okay does say that um yeah I have gone too
[00:39:05] far you’re probably right um it does say that wisdom would come from God through
[00:39:13] uh people wearing or or from what appears to be like um people
[00:39:20] in from a fish now what happened was was when the um assy when they were
[00:39:27] conquering um different people groups they would take the people back with
[00:39:33] them and the people would bring their own Gods with them so um yes so the fish
[00:39:39] cloak sages in order to protect a house hold Figures were buried beneath the
[00:39:44] floor in groups of seven these examples represent Appo or wise men dressed in
[00:39:50] fish skin cloak sent by the god EA to impart knowledge to humans for cultic
[00:39:56] purposes priests wore such cloaks made from a giant species of carp living in
[00:40:02] the river Tigress now if you go into the Natural History Museum um in one of the
[00:40:08] galleries upstairs they have a massive fish and the description for the fish is
[00:40:15] that in one of the fishes fossil fishes that they’ve got um it has a four foot
[00:40:21] fish in it that must have been swallowed whole so um if you had local knowledge
[00:40:29] of the day of Nineveh of the day you would see that God had primed Nineveh
[00:40:36] perfectly so when a very angry Jonah was thrown up onto the shores of The Tigress
[00:40:43] River and he was angry and he walked across Nineveh going in 40 days you are
[00:40:51] getting judged they everyone repented they put sackcloth on the cow
[00:40:57] and if you see how the sovereignty of God has preprimed
[00:41:03] for us it makes no no sense at all in in today we just don’t understand it today
[00:41:08] but in that time you can understand why um um they were so Keen to repent God
[00:41:16] absolutely that that that’s that’s so and context is everything there’s so many things like that in the Bible
[00:41:22] people have questions about it why would they do this why would they do that you know all these things but once you dig
[00:41:27] into it and you start looking into the context of what was happening at the time all of a sudden all the puzzle
[00:41:32] pieces just come together I can only imagine you know he Jonah gets you know thrown up on the beach by this fish
[00:41:38] maybe there were some people actually fishing there saw this happen and were like we saw him come out of a fish and
[00:41:45] they’re like following him right and you have a bunch of ninevites following him through through the city as he’s telling
[00:41:51] this and they’re like yeah we saw him you know and so uh like you said that’s God’s sovereignty and that that’s his
[00:41:58] care for people too because he knows where people are at and um I always find that story of Jonah so funny where where
[00:42:05] he’s like God I knew you were a merciful god that’s why I didn’t want to tell him
[00:42:10] you I knew you would forgive him and and he’s like I wanted you to you know strike them down and God’s like are you
[00:42:16] kidding there’s over you know what did he say 200,000 people who who don’t know
[00:42:21] their left hand from their right uh and and animals too he even says and and should I not care about them and uh
[00:42:28] that’s just the heart of God you know so that’s so wonderful and if you think that Jonah I mean Jesus references Jonah
[00:42:36] you know when he’s describing his own um death and Resurrection it’s on the basis
[00:42:42] that the only sign you’re going to get is Jonah and if you imagine that Jonah
[00:42:47] because it does describe that he dies or the description that he gives when he’s
[00:42:52] been in a fish for three days do you not not think that stomach acid has bleached
[00:42:58] him white he stinks he looks like he’s being in a fish the smell itself which
[00:43:05] and he’s he’s happy he yeah he must have been a sight
[00:43:10] man that must have been been a rough uh rough ride there but I I’d love to meet
[00:43:16] him and and again this is one of the things that I always think when people
[00:43:23] um are not paying enough attention to the Old Testament and they are born again
[00:43:30] Believers they’re going to meet these people and they need to recognize them they need to know who they are yeah the
[00:43:38] oldest the Old Testament is critical it’s absolutely critical um you can’t really understand the New Testament
[00:43:44] without the Old Testament because these guys are constantly referencing the Old Testament and otherwise you’re like what
[00:43:50] in the world is this guy talking about why why does he saying these random things but if you really study the Old
[00:43:55] Testament you know know that there’s so much that’s predicted which validates what happens in the New Testament
[00:44:01] because it was predicted in the Old Testament and these guys knew that and that’s what they’re referencing and so all of a sudden everything makes sense
[00:44:07] when when you really take the Bible at its word rather than saying oh it’s just you know it’s just a self-help book you
[00:44:12] know to to you know help us out of a tough time or whatever no it’s it you
[00:44:18] know it does help us and does encourage us but reality is it’s real history it’s it’s truly exciting when you when you
[00:44:26] see um I had the privilege of of going to um King ahab’s Ivory Palace which
[00:44:33] which again according to Micah would be destroyed and has been destroyed but it
[00:44:39] is just incredible when you’re standing there and you read about Jezebel looking out of the window as um judgment is
[00:44:47] heading her way and they can recognize King juu by his terrible
[00:44:54] driving and and the topography when you stand at the edge of the palace and
[00:45:00] you’ve got everything falls away and You Can See For Miles omry chose that site because it
[00:45:08] would be impenetrable you could see from a long distance and it’s just it’s you
[00:45:14] read the scriptures and you see and then the ivories from the ivory Palace we
[00:45:19] have in a lot of the museums around the world we’ve got them in the in the the British museum itself so the smallest
[00:45:27] details are just um just quite amazing to see and
[00:45:34] we’re not scratching the surface it’s only about 1% of Israel that has actually been um dug up because it’s so
[00:45:41] difficult get Hermits and especially the Israel Jerusalem itself that is very
[00:45:49] difficult but what an ex the Bible the best most exciting Adventure you can do
[00:45:55] is is to study from the first word to the last word and then check out for yourselves in your local museums it’s
[00:46:03] not just the British museum it’s the Natural History Museum we can prove um
[00:46:09] that God um Jesus said everything was created by Him and for him and without
[00:46:14] him nothing was made that was made and it’s a delight to prove him right again
[00:46:20] and again and again oh well that’s so wonderful uh Jill I really appreciate
[00:46:26] your ministry and what you’re doing and and um you know if you’re listening and this strikes a chord with you and you
[00:46:32] want to support her and what she’s doing um you know this is really missionary work you know a lot of times we we think
[00:46:38] of missionary work as you know being out in a country you know that’s more uh
[00:46:44] primitive or whatever the the case maybe a third world country whatever the case but uh Mission work is happening all
[00:46:50] over the world um and this is a Jill is really a missionary so if you would like
[00:46:56] to support her and get in touch with her and uh uh encourage her biblical tours.
[00:47:02] co.uk that’s biblical tours. co.uk um she’s also a part of the International Association for creation
[00:47:09] and um and look her up and if you’re in London and you want to get a tour of the
[00:47:14] museum this is a a fantastic person to connect with um just her wealth of
[00:47:20] knowledge and everything she’s doing so Jill thank you so much for being with us today it’s a real pleasure and I know
[00:47:26] you’re you’re what is it almost 2 a.m. now over in London uh yeah 10 to two um
[00:47:33] can I say that you can take photographs
[00:47:38] of the evidence and then use the same evidence for street preaching because
[00:47:44] you take the biblical evidence from the museums you take it into the street and
[00:47:49] people will stop and stare and they will take photographs because they don’t hear this in the churches and they and when
[00:47:56] you take evidence to people who say but there is no evidence and you just need an easel some photographs and some
[00:48:03] magnets and an amplifier and you can um
[00:48:09] really reach out to the lost with the gospel with proof I love that I’m gonna do that did you um do you actually do
[00:48:17] that yes in Windor wow and people really respond well huh
[00:48:24] um the men and I hate to pick on the men but the men are very much they want
[00:48:31] scientific evidence so when you start talking about like the James web telescope that is finding galaxies where
[00:48:38] they’re not allowed to be because it destroys the Big Bang Yeah or you give evidence for the um fossil evidence for
[00:48:47] Lucy and you show um that a power tool was CH used to change a chimpanzee hip
[00:48:54] to be in the shape of a human hip and that’s the only evidence they’ve got men often stand and are in disbelief
[00:49:01] especially as I shouldn’t know anything well you know a ton that’s for
[00:49:08] sure so um Jill thank you again um this is a huge pleasure and uh hopefully I
[00:49:14] can make it over there sometime and and get a tour from you that’d be a big blessing I would love that Kevin thank
[00:49:19] you so much thank you absolutely I hope you enjoyed the show this evening uh we
[00:49:25] do have some fantastic shows coming up we have Russ humph Dr Russ humph we’re going to be talking about how do they
[00:49:31] actually date the age of the Earth um with him uh he’s he’s got all kinds of
[00:49:36] incredible scientific evidence that uh shows that the Bible is accurate when it
[00:49:42] talks about the age of the Earth we also have coming up um Don blly with at the well Ministries who does who visits
[00:49:49] college campuses and shares the gospel and helps people um change their minds
[00:49:55] about the issue of abortion uh he’s been doing this for a long time and has had
[00:50:00] incredible um success and um all kinds of Amazing Stories and then we have Dr
[00:50:06] Tim Clary who’s going to be with us talking about the progression of the flood so how did it start and what
[00:50:13] happened all the way through up to to to and including the Ice Age so that’s going to be really incredible also he’s
[00:50:19] with the institute for creation research so some great shows and uh I look forward to being with you next time time
[00:50:26] um remember what the Bible says in Philippians whatever is good whatever is pure whatever is Holy think on these
[00:50:31] things you know it’s easy to get discouraged when we look around us and sometimes things look Bleak but God is
[00:50:37] never out of control he’s not the god of Doom and Gloom he’s the god of Hope Redemption restoration and he does it
[00:50:43] all day long every day so I uh encourage you just to keep your focus on God despite what’s going on on around us or
[00:50:50] maybe the trials that are happening in your life thank you again for being with us and we’ll see you again next week
