[00:02:33] questions that they can’t seem to answer about God in the Bible everything to do with creation and religion how do we

[00:02:39] know Christianity is the truth how do you know the Bible is actually the Word of God all these sorts of questions that that are coming the way of Christian

[00:02:45] young people and having to deal with a culture that’s become increasingly skeptical and so I’ve got to know a

[00:02:52] little bit here Dan Biddle and Dan is this the first time I’ve interviewed Dan and we’ve kind of emailed back and forth

[00:02:59] a few times and we’ve connected a little bit through logos but Dan is the

[00:03:04] president and founder of Genesis apologetics Genesis apologetics calm you

[00:03:10] can go and he has all kinds of resources which is a lot of what we’re going to be talking about today specifically what we’re going to be talking about is why

[00:03:16] do so many people believe in evolution if it’s not true and what are the top four reasons that young people believe

[00:03:23] in evolution so Dan before we hop into those questions do you mind giving us a little bit of background how did you get

[00:03:29] interested in the subject and why is why are you so passionate about it sure yes I’ll give you the short version because

[00:03:35] it’s quite a quite a longer story but I’ve been interested in apologetics my whole life I got saved when I was 11 and

[00:03:41] I’ve been following Christ since I was about 17 and I went to seminary I’ve loved apologetics and everything but I

[00:03:48] was pretty much undeclared on the origins issue was it a gap theory older

[00:03:53] if young-earth whatever it might be and until about five years ago I took a quest up to Canada in Montana and looked

[00:04:00] at the massive bone yards up there and came away a believer that Genesis is a

[00:04:05] real historical account and the flood just happened thousands of years ago and a younger creation and so that really

[00:04:12] lit me on fire when I understood that Genesis was not to be taken

[00:04:17] metaphorically it wasn’t a relativistic book it wasn’t poetry it’s real actual history it

[00:04:24] allowed my head to join my heart a little bit more and I was already a spirit filled my heart totally in

[00:04:31] Christian but when my head joined the party it really changed me and about the same time I was going to back-to-school

[00:04:38] night on my son seventh grade classroom in public school and I learned the extent of the evolution teaching that

[00:04:44] they’re drowning our kids in public school in 250 pages over three class grades and about 50 classroom hours of

[00:04:53] instruction and I saw the impact firsthand it was having on kids and so I just began to pray and ask him Lord you

[00:05:00] know how can you use me what do you want to do and got with our partner de Bisbee

[00:05:05] and lo and behold we formed this ministry about five years ago and we’ve been speaking and talking and publishing

[00:05:12] YouTube videos and everything like that since so it’s been a fun journey that’s

[00:05:17] absolutely fantastic now I was just curious you said what was the big impact you said you went to a boneyard yeah I

[00:05:24] went up to I flew over to Montana and flew up to Canada and I looked at the mass boneyards up there there’s a place

[00:05:31] in Canada called the dinosaur Provincial Park and it’s an area called the Hilda bone bed where you can go first-hand for

[00:05:38] you and see for yourself a 9 mile long boneyard with tens of thousands of dead

[00:05:46] dying dinosaurs and thousands of dead ceratopsian dinosaurs that are buried with sharks and oysters and clams and

[00:05:53] marine life and crocodiles and turtles and it’s just amazing and when you see

[00:05:58] the same thing in Montana and realize that Montana is just part of a 13 state

[00:06:04] area called the Morrison Formation representing about 700,000 square miles

[00:06:09] of dead animals buried by a huge catastrophic on a Dacian I spent about

[00:06:15] 90 days of my life every spare time I could between business and family looking into this and after about three

[00:06:21] months I was completely convinced that Genesis is a real history account and

[00:06:27] quite frankly it’s hard to look at those areas and not believe that there was a massive catastrophic

[00:06:33] inundation that happened just thousands of years ago because all the soft issues they’re finding in these bones now yeah

[00:06:39] absolutely so that that’s pretty phenomenal and then prior to that you didn’t have a

[00:06:45] settled were you did you have a settled thought about how things were or were

[00:06:51] you kind of up in the air kind of trying to figure things out still you know that’s the scary limbo place that I was

[00:06:57] in for a long time like most Christians I thought well maybe it really doesn’t matter maybe the earth it’s all maybe

[00:07:03] it’s young and then I’ve got four kids and my older two kids that are now in college would ask me you know five six

[00:07:10] years ago or when they were growing up a dad tell me about the dinosaurs and I’d have to answer two different ways well

[00:07:15] honey if the earth is old and here’s your answer if the earth is young and here’s your answer hey Dad what about the Smilodon

[00:07:21] saber-toothed cats and mammoths and the and Ursuline cavemen one of those all set and it was impossible to give them a

[00:07:27] clear answer without fighting with origins and the age of the earth issue

[00:07:33] so but when I looked into the strengths and limitations of radiometric dating

[00:07:38] and looked at the underlying assumptions and went to these boneyards myself and asked very real questions like how do

[00:07:45] you bury 13 States for the dead dinosaurs with sharks and fish and clams I was overwhelmingly convinced at that

[00:07:53] that the flood happened so and for me it just it allowed me to make a shift so

[00:07:59] now when my younger two kids have asked me about the creations and origins and dinosaurs I give them one straight

[00:08:05] answer there’s no more confusion and I think I’m afraid that my older two kids when they were hearing dad give two

[00:08:11] different answers for all these very basic questions I think not only did they doubt me a little bit they probably

[00:08:18] doubted the Bible because if dad doesn’t know when the Bible doesn’t know then how firmly can i really trust it yeah

[00:08:24] yeah that makes a little sense yeah yeah okay well so what we’re going to be talking about today is that the top four

[00:08:32] reasons that young people students believe in evolution and your ministry Genesis apologetics it what is the

[00:08:40] demographic your your targeting them what what who we drew we really started 5th grade and go all the way up through

[00:08:45] college but I would say core of our ministry is middle school and high school kids okay yeah yeah and

[00:08:52] and exactly tell us a little bit more about your ministry what what I know you have the app which is phenomenal and a

[00:08:57] great resource and tool for young people tell our listeners about the app yes so we basically have two resources the

[00:09:04] first is our debunking evolution program and it’s a sixth lesson program that has about three hours of video training and

[00:09:11] it’s designed for really 5th to 10th graders because it’s a very thorough refutation of all the 10 main pillars of

[00:09:18] evolution that are taught in our public schools at least in California but our mobile app is the one that we’re really

[00:09:24] pushing right now or we’re gaining up on about 16,000 users it plumbs back to all

[00:09:31] of our videos and we also share resources there from places like Answers in Genesis and ICR that also have videos

[00:09:37] but we’ve broken this app into twelve different sections that has really easy

[00:09:43] to understand easy to follow videos that take the core areas of evolution that

[00:09:48] our teens are starting to believe nowadays and just refute some one by one with with a visual eye candy that

[00:09:55] they’re so used to watching well that’s great and where can they pick up that app where can they get that so it’s just

[00:10:15] 300 downloads a day right now so it’s been fun trying to promote it that’s great okay so let’s hop into what these

[00:10:23] top reasons are that young people believe in evolution I really give it’s

[00:10:29] the first one okay so how it came about is as I’m a behavioral scientist by

[00:10:35] training I love survey statistics research and I spent several years of my life going around testifying as an

[00:10:41] expert and research and stats in state and federal court cases so I’m very very much a data-driven person so I thought

[00:10:48] well we’re going to go debunk evolution regardless of what they’re teaching in the schools I want to find out what

[00:10:54] stuck what are the reasons that teens are buying the myth and the live evolution so we hired a survey company

[00:11:02] called pollster they basically survey people as we’re checking out through Amazon and we got about 300 people and

[00:11:09] spent a few thousand dollars to get 300 people to fill out a survey and simply ask them the question what’s your best

[00:11:16] shot what’s the best reason you believe in evolution what’s the best evidence for it and that’s what then what’s the

[00:11:22] second best evidence and then we coded all the responses and it’s amazing we found that 72% of the reason that teens

[00:11:30] nowadays age I think was aged 14 to 24 believe in evolution is anchored on four

[00:11:36] different topics and that’s it Wow well that’s really helpful to know because that really helps you to focus

[00:11:41] on what’s most important and kind of all the ancillary issues you know just narrow that down and go okay if we can

[00:11:48] deal with these we’ve made a lot of headway yeah exactly so that everyone has that you from a psychological

[00:11:54] perspective it’s called a neural network or the knowledge framework and everyone

[00:11:59] has a knowledge framework of why they believe in evolution so the first one

[00:14:19] Sacramento desperately needs God and Jesus and Genesis and so fantastic ministry up there if you’re in that area

[00:14:44] really know their stuff they get out and speak in a whole bunch of different settings but Dave Bisbee is actually the

[00:14:51] reason I’m here because I went to hear him give a talk about ten years ago called man walk but dinosaurs and I went

[00:14:58] there to basically think I’m gonna make fun of this guy in my head all be nice but about halfway through his talk I

[00:15:05] realized my gosh he’s onto something and him there are thousands of people that

[00:15:10] believe that stuff and that’s actually what catapulted me into the research about dinosaurs in the fossil record

[00:15:16] that is that is so cool now that’s interesting now were you a Christian

[00:15:22] when you were going to make fun of him oh absolutely and I wouldn’t paint I wasn’t gonna you know throw rocks and

[00:15:27] make fuss or anything there sure but what I heard his talk was you know dinosaurs live recently I just thought

[00:15:32] oh this is going to be hilarious I’m going to go watch this guy because we all know that they died out 65 million

[00:15:38] years ago but like I said about 20 minutes into his talk I just sat there dumbfounded going on I can’t believe

[00:15:45] this stuff where is he planing all this evidence yeah set me up I’m a researcher

[00:15:51] yeah I find that to be so incredible because that’s the regular kind of a regular experience I have to is that I

[00:15:59] tell them hey you know dinosaurs walked with man and people are just absolutely

[00:16:04] flabbergasted they’re kind of like how can I possibly say that but then all of a sudden you start giving them evidence

[00:16:10] and they’re like whoa wait a second thank you for right you know and I’ve actually found sometimes it can not it

[00:16:18] can be disadvantageous to try to answer the question unless the person has about 15 minutes and in and so far the

[00:16:26] majority of people who can give me about 15 minutes you know I can convince them

[00:16:32] and it’s not anything magic that I I have or any magic skill that I have the evidence is overwhelming but you can’t

[00:16:39] do it in a 30 second elevator pitch attempt it takes a conversation over lunch yeah so so our listeners I’m sure

[00:16:46] are dying to hear these four reasons and we tease them in the last segment here so give us number one here again okay so

[00:16:53] the number one reason that teenagers and college students believe in evolution is human of humans of all from apes and

[00:17:01] afraid from ape-like creatures that’s a number one thing I think it was about 30% of responses how to do with Apes the

[00:17:09] fossil record the monkey and a man march of progress that they’re so used to seeing sixth graders in the state of

[00:17:14] California drink in about two full weeks of Lucy training of course they teach them they evolved from the

[00:17:20] Australopithecus that led to Homo habilis and Homo erectus and then homo sapien and the homo sapien sapien but

[00:17:28] that’s a number one reason that people believe in the live evolution is the really scant evidence surrounding human

[00:17:36] evolution but the way it’s presented in high school and college classes gives it teeth that it really doesn’t deserve to

[00:17:42] have because in about 30 minutes it’s real easy to take the rug out from under the idea of humans evolved it’s really

[00:17:49] it’s really quite a debunk able topic you know what sixth graders get in two

[00:17:54] weeks of it and he could just take the lead icon Lucy and in about ten minutes she falls apart and when you

[00:18:00] scientifically critique Lucy using what the scientific literature it says self says about Lucy she’s clearly not a

[00:18:08] human ancestor it’s very very easy to get through that but that’s the number one reason that people believe in evolution as humans evolved yeah I

[00:18:15] remember back when I was in elementary school I believe sixth grade we actually

[00:18:20] went to the Natural History Museum here in San Diego and Balboa Park and they had all of them

[00:18:26] lined up right there for you to show and I looked at it and thought well look at that I mean I didn’t even question it

[00:18:32] for me it was okay this must be true that’s the way it is so now and at the

[00:18:39] time I grew up in a Christian family at the time it wasn’t something I was debating in my mind I hadn’t even as a

[00:18:44] little kid I hadn’t even considered you know the debate between evolution and creation it wasn’t even on my radar yeah

[00:18:51] but but it’s a seed that’s planted right and then you it’s so hard and when that

[00:18:57] seed plants and grows it’s really really tough to dig out the roots for a lot of kids when that when those synapses are

[00:19:04] formed as a young kid 5th and 6th grade it’s really hard to sever the root and

[00:19:09] let that little tree of lies die and plant new seeds of truth but the Holy

[00:19:15] Spirit can do it I’ve seen it happen over and over again that’s all the time to have to pull up yeah now now so in

[00:19:22] your app does it have if somebody says hey I want to see this I want to hear more about debunking Lucy and and the

[00:19:29] chimp-like ancestor to man process is that all within the app yes I believe

[00:19:36] it’s the number one section that we have on the air I think we have about a three minute Lucy debunking video a nine

[00:19:42] minute one and then an exhaustive 45-minute one but in nine minutes it’s

[00:19:48] all it’s really required in fact we have public school teachers that use our nine minute video to kind of teach and

[00:19:55] compare and contrast some of the limitations of Lucy fitting in as early human ancestor so so yeah a couple

[00:20:03] different videos on this year or right in our app there so if there’s a public school teacher out there who’s listening

[00:20:08] to this and wants to use something like that do you have any advice for them as far as is there any pushback about

[00:20:14] bringing up questions that pertain to you know evolution and so forth no not

[00:20:21] at all I mean as long as it’s not followed by a call to salvation or something but which you can in fact do

[00:20:26] it puts on a one on one basis or after school hours or and everything but if you want to present what as secular

[00:20:32] scientists themselves are saying about the limitations about Lucy that’s all we draw from all of our critiques for about

[00:20:39] see our drum from the scientific literature and so that’s why public

[00:20:45] school teachers are allowed to use it to simply say look not everyone agrees with this about the hip and the knee and the

[00:20:51] shoulder and the head and the the spine and all these different things there’s some controversy around that and that’s

[00:20:56] all we do is lay out the controversy okay fantastic that’s great yeah okay well let’s let’s go on to number two

[00:21:03] here what’s what’s the second one okay well the number two slot is reserved for our favorite friend Charles Darwin’s so

[00:21:10] yeah it would be Darwin’s theory propers are dealing with natural selection adaptation mutations and working as a

[00:21:17] machine to propel vertical evolution so Darwin’s theory proper makes up the

[00:21:22] second the second key reason why people believe in evolution okay so you’re

[00:21:29] talking about the combination of undirected mutations and natural selection yes exactly and sometimes

[00:21:35] people will throw in different variances of Darwin’s ideas or but a lot of the

[00:21:41] times they’ll mention Darwin’s finches which again it takes maybe one three

[00:21:46] minutes to take the rug out from under that one you know and studies have come out recently showing that that finches

[00:21:52] can change their beak size and shape within one generation based upon where they live and their habitat I mean it’s

[00:21:58] it’s not evolution they’re just still finches we’re dealing with god-ordained

[00:22:03] pre-programmed adaptability within a kind and and these species never turn

[00:22:09] into a different kind never have never will and about five thousand years for the recorded history and when students hear

[00:22:16] things like that it’s pretty easy to let go of the idea but if it goes unrebutted they think well my gosh there’s a smart

[00:22:23] guy and he spent a long time he went on a ship and he went to the Galapagos Islands and he saw this different stuff and and it can kind of make up an

[00:22:30] interesting story a very believable story when you critically look at it again it just falls apart

[00:22:36] yeah and that’s been again that’s been my experience too is that most people almost take it for granted that okay

[00:22:42] this must be the way it is I’ve told you talk to quite a few students and even secular scientists

[00:22:50] agnostics scientists and I brought it up and and very often they think well look at

[00:22:57] this change happened therefore greater change is possible yes they just go

[00:23:02] appellate yeah you’re so right and that’s that’s a scary part because the

[00:23:07] kids don’t knew it know it but they’re doing what they’re doing what we call an inferential leap they’re going for one

[00:23:14] to the next and and and you can’t do that with observational the true

[00:23:20] scientific method you can only do that with historical science which requires assumptions and faith and but when you

[00:23:27] lay out Darwin’s evidence I mean even modern secular atheists are ditching a

[00:23:32] lot of what he said a lot of his ideas so we’ve got the human genome sequence everything we go back to a single single

[00:23:39] man you know so it’s it’s amazing that God’s Word is just stood the test of

[00:23:46] time as being true amen well we have it we’re coming up on another break here we have two more reasons that students

[00:23:54] believe in evolution that that Dan Biddle has spent time working on and

[00:27:13] guest today is Dan Biddle with Genesis apologetics and we both do the same thing it’s really cool and it’s it’s

[00:27:19] encouraging to have other people that are doing their best to disprove things

[00:27:24] like evolution that you know the Bible says to demolish arguments that set themselves up against the knowledge of

[00:27:30] God I guess the truth of God’s Word and so we all want to do this as Christians together and ultimately whether you’re a

[00:27:36] Christian or not I mean you want truth right you don’t you don’t want to live your life based on a lie and so we’re all out to no truth I believe that God

[00:27:43] has designed within each person a desire for truth and a desire for love and this

[00:27:49] is really what Christ was all about he was all about truth he was all about love and so we want to present the truth

[00:27:55] and love and help people to know Jesus Christ and that they can be saved from

[00:28:00] their sins and they can spend eternity in heaven it’s an incredible gift an incredible opportunity and the wonderful

[00:28:07] thing is that apologetics which is simply defending the truth of the Bible apologetics is a great way to open the

[00:28:13] door to be able to share your faith and to be able to share truth and to be able to share to love and so once you get

[00:28:19] knowledgeable about creation and evolution about the books of the Bible and how they were put together about world religions and why Christianity is

[00:28:27] the truth once you get knowledge about these issues people start wanting to talk to you hey this person’s got

[00:28:33] perspectives that I haven’t heard before and you start to provide answers that make sense and the puzzle pieces start

[00:28:39] to click together and you become that source of hope and light that Christ has called us to be so Dan we’ve got we’ve

[00:28:47] got two reasons why students believe evolution left here give us number three okay number three is fossils and

[00:28:54] transitions so students simply reported things like Archaeopteryx and Tiktaalik which are

[00:29:00] the two leading transitional forms that are used in public schools today but again give us about two minutes with

[00:29:07] each of those topics and they’re easy to throw out the window I mean they’re they’re they’re they’re leadings best

[00:29:13] suppose addressed and transitional fossils but under critical review they simply fall apart so and then the fossil

[00:29:20] record itself is an amazing testimony to know as flood animal sorted and buried

[00:29:26] based upon their habitat elevation body density and intelligence I mean all over

[00:29:31] the earth and the six sloths mega sequences that we have in the sedimentary record so Noah’s Flood is a

[00:29:37] great explanation for why we have billions of dead things buried in rock layers so it’s really easy to cover that

[00:29:45] but kids are presented the fossil record as an order of life evolving from you

[00:29:52] know goo to the zoo that to me and you yeah really what it is it’s an order of burial of how animals were catastrophic

[00:29:59] aliy inundated overwhelmed and buried by noah’s flood just thousands of years ago

[00:30:05] so that’s that’s a third topic is syllables in transitions so Dan let’s get into that a little bit more if

[00:30:11] somebody said to you look it you have this perspective that it’s a burial record and we have this perspective that

[00:30:16] it’s that it’s the historical record of evolution happening you know like you

[00:30:21] said GU – GU – me and you all the way from down to bottom why should I believe you’re a reason over this reason over

[00:30:28] here I mean what would you say yeah I would simply say that that to be totally

[00:30:34] honest from a scientific standpoint neither side can prove their case because the fossil record is a very dry

[00:30:41] testament of what happens the bones that you dig up don’t come with date tags on them and they don’t say this creature

[00:30:48] was the mother of this creature was the father of that creature had you know this many kids all we have is our dead

[00:30:54] bones we have dead fossils but those fossils in the rocks they do cry out the

[00:30:59] truth I mean if you look at things like one of our lead points when we got

[00:31:04] speaking colleges is the 14 fresh bio organic materials that are found in dinosaur bones

[00:31:10] things like sex and histones and proteins and blood cells and blood vessels and collagen which has got

[00:31:16] scientific evidence there’s been five different studies out on collagen that show there’s no way that stuff can last

[00:31:23] more than nine hundred thousand years in the dirt it’s impossible so why are we finding collagen in dinosaur bones that

[00:31:29] have been verified at the molecular level if dinosaur bones are 65 million years

[00:31:34] old it’s scientifically impossible now I know there’s some things that are on our side but yeah it’s it’s tough now

[00:31:41] there’s a there’s this popular idea out there that somehow iron has preserved you know the blood vessels in the t-rex

[00:31:49] with with Mary Schweitzer in Montana and and the hadrosaur and these sorts of things do you have any information you

[00:31:56] can share about that about it you said there’s five studies there is a book by

[00:32:02] Kevin Anderson named called echoes of the Jurassic where he does a very thorough rebuttal of that but I would

[00:32:08] just say as a scientist who works with the scientific method the degree of

[00:32:13] extrapolation in Mary’s study is untenable we’re talking about using a

[00:32:19] different kind of blood with a different kind of blood cell and it works for maybe a year maybe two years and you’re

[00:32:25] going to extrapolate for millions of years in every possible different type of condition that these dinosaur bones

[00:32:31] are found it’s it just doesn’t doesn’t fly in fact I would flip it and say the

[00:32:37] things that we can measure even more reliably like collagen half-life clearly

[00:32:42] land but the evidence on our side there’s no way you can get collagen to last that long so so yeah it’s a study

[00:32:48] she did it it’s thoroughly rebutted in Kevin Anderson’s book but you’re basically asking the reader to

[00:32:54] extrapolate millions upon millions of years beyond the very limited time that

[00:33:01] she was able to preserve the blood okay so so before we get into the last question that students or the last

[00:33:08] reason that students believe in evolution we’ve been through three of them of the four main reasons that that

[00:33:14] people believe in evolution what is on that what is on the horizon for Genesis apologetics where are you going next or

[00:33:20] you develop in the app more what’s happened in the future you we’re certainly fleshing out the app a little bit more in fact one of the neat

[00:33:26] things at work that we’ve worked on is making the app so you can give a self-guided creation tour of today’s

[00:33:32] leading Natural History Museum’s we just finished a part of the app where you can go to the Washington DC Smithsonian

[00:33:39] Natural History Museum pull out the app and give yourself a creation based tour

[00:33:44] through you know that monument of evolution using a wrap wow that is a Hamill 15,000 square foot testament

[00:33:52] shrine written them there on human origins and you can go through that listening to parts on our of our app

[00:33:57] that will take you to their monuments and refute them one by one wow that is fantastic and then of course

[00:34:04] our next to that thing is here we’re going to be working with masters University on March 9th to have our

[00:34:10] annual conference we’ve got a speaker coming up for masters University dr. McLane an expert in the dinosaurs and

[00:34:16] fossil record and we’re going to be at real Life Church for a whole Saturday that’s her annual event had a few

[00:34:22] hundred people last year and hope to get maybe 500 people or so this year so

[00:34:27] that’s our that’s our big new thing March 9th and 2019 is having an annual conference that’s fantastic

[00:34:33] okay well my guest today is Dan Biddle and we have one more we have one more segment coming up here and we’re going

[00:34:39] to cover the last reason can you repeat the three reasons Dan that we’ve covered so far sure top three reasons are human

[00:34:46] evolution or just the idea that humans evolve the second one is Darwin’s theory proper so natural selection adaptation

[00:34:53] and the third one is fossils and transitions and then we’ll get into the fourth one I guess after your break so

[00:35:00] if you’re so if you’re a parent out there or if you’re a speaker or if you’re somebody who communicates on these things if you’re in your local

[00:35:06] church and and you do a class on this sort of thing these are important areas

[00:35:11] to focus on in order to help to make progress quickly and help people to understand these issues quickly I’m also

[00:35:23] annual it’s the 10th annual always be ready conference and that’s going to be at Calvary Chapel South Bay I’ll be

[00:35:34] one of the intelligent design kind of founding fathers he’s an expert on the

[00:35:40] cell he recently came out with a book called Darwin’s doubt I’ll also be speaking with Phil Fernandez Steve

[00:38:49] comm and we’re talking about the top four reasons that people believe in

[00:38:55] evolution specifically students believe in evolution so Dan were on the last one

[00:39:02] there I hear like a fax machine in the background so yes the joys of going live

[00:39:08] with this yeah so our reasons reason number four is science as an authority

[00:39:14] so that’s simply the idea that scientists that are smart believe in

[00:39:19] evolution therefore I’m going to believe in it and unfortunately students nowadays aren’t trained to differentiate between

[00:39:25] what we call observational science and historical science you simply think that the science is just science and there’s

[00:39:33] no differentiating or there’s no dividing wall between them but what we’ve learned is the scientific method

[00:39:39] requires six different steps and that’s how we you know develop new medicines or

[00:39:44] people on the moon is you have to be able to observe and see and test and repeat and form hypotheses and basically

[00:39:51] watch something happen and historical science doesn’t require any bath so the

[00:39:57] kids just fail to make that differentiation and believe in evolution simply because smart scientists say it’s

[00:40:04] oh yeah yeah and that’s I talk about that with my students I teach seniors in

[00:40:09] high school and it’s an appeal to an appeal to an expert or an upset to

[00:40:16] Authority and we want to we want to go based on not on the expert we want to go

[00:40:22] based on the actual evidence right yeah exactly so kids just simply think

[00:40:28] okay well my gosh if the people who are in science in the field of science and they’re in there making medicine and

[00:40:34] they’re doing practicing medicine of that nature then they must be smart and so therefore it must be true but when we

[00:40:41] sit down and say look kids there’s two different kinds of science inferential science or historical science and then

[00:40:48] there’s the true scientific method which is what they’re grilled in and biology class and life science then they can

[00:40:54] differentiate it because you can’t see and observe and test things that are supposedly millions of years ago so

[00:41:00] that’s that’s who want to help them to understand yeah and what when it all comes down I mean we can’t get into this

[00:41:06] war where we’re kind of like well my expert says this and my expert says this my expert says this we keep going back and forth like this yeah we actually

[00:41:14] have to take the time to look into the evidence for ourselves or I mean experts experts can be wrong right yeah exactly

[00:41:20] and unfortunately a lot of the kids being developing students don’t have the

[00:41:26] the academic fortitude and hardware to try to make these differentiations they

[00:41:32] simply know my gosh I was sick I went to the doctor they made me better that scientist magic and we’ve even seen

[00:41:38] leading passer Assault rated the same faux pas basically the Quai ting science

[00:41:44] with collectively with historical science and observational science but

[00:41:49] you know every time I would go testify about the scientific method in state or federal court cases you have to use a

[00:41:56] rigorous method you have to test a certain competence intervals and you have to be able to say Your Honor this

[00:42:01] is real data that we observed we collected we followed protocols and it’s

[00:42:06] based on things we can observe tests see and repeat today and it’s not based upon

[00:42:13] some abstract artist rendition of Lucy’s bones and what we think Lucy might have

[00:42:18] looked like yeah but unfortunately kids don’t see the difference but in about a 10 minute lecture we can help them

[00:42:25] disentangle those two things that’s great you know it’s interesting I had a student come to me who was at a public

[00:42:31] school and he was he was told by his teacher to write this paper on a debate

[00:42:37] subject and he chose creation and evolution and he said mr. Conover we’re only allowed to do research from this list of

[00:42:44] websites that were given by the school district and he said in every one I look up on creation/evolution all of them say

[00:42:50] evolution is true and creation is false and I gave him a list of other websites

[00:42:55] that he could use to to counter it as a counterpoint and he went back to his teachers teacher said no you can’t use

[00:43:01] any of those sites you can only use the sites that our district has given us which you know the kids you know are in

[00:43:06] a very difficult place where they’re literally being locked into this information now they’re not able to

[00:43:12] critically evaluate the information which this is often the case and so your

[00:43:17] ministry and what you’re doing in this the resources you’re providing help to give students a fighting chance here

[00:43:23] yeah you’re right in fact I’ve gotten so bold nowadays that a number of biology

[00:43:28] put textbooks right in the preface will give one to two pages of a full

[00:43:34] apologetic against creationist specifically wow I didn’t know when you read this stuff you’re like oh my gosh

[00:43:41] it’s what we’re watching happening is Romans one 1st Thessalonians and second

[00:43:46] Peter 3 happening right before our very eyes I mean the Bible prophesy this and

[00:43:52] second Peter 3 comes out and says you know above all this know this that in the last days people are going to come

[00:43:58] to nying the catastrophism and creation out of nothing and that’s exactly the

[00:44:04] two things that they’re being willingly ignorant about just like the Bible so they’re going to be and how are you

[00:44:09] willingly ignorant about something well you teach the opposite of it yeah and we’re seeing that in our

[00:44:14] lifetime yeah absolutely well well I love what you’re doing I think it’s fantastic and if somebody wants to get

[00:44:22] involved with your ministry or they want to have you out to it to speak to be speaking or something like this what do you come and do you typically

[00:44:29] come and speak on creation apologetics or what do you speak on specifically yeah you know our wheelhouse talk is

[00:44:35] Noah’s Flood and because you can just turn left a few chapters in your at creation week you know and I like to

[00:44:43] really focus on the evidence that personally got me it’s the overwhelming flood fossil record and dinosaurs

[00:44:49] so that’s where we like to start but we we have four different main talks that we can’t we do that one the days of

[00:44:55] creation and another popular when we give us on the reliability of the Bible we look at the Dead Sea Scrolls and the

[00:45:01] transmission and how consistent it is and things like that so but we talked to high schoolers and middle schools we

[00:45:07] also talked and in colleges and the course will won’t will teach Sunday mornings at church – in Sunday schools

[00:45:13] or or the main service as well so and we have a network of about ten different

[00:45:18] speakers in different areas around Northern California to dig it out and do these kinds of talks but we don’t charge

[00:45:25] anything and we love doing this because it’s it’s amazing when people can get an

[00:45:30] alignment between what they believe in their mind and what they know is true in their hearts only then can you live

[00:45:36] under the ordinance of what Jesus said they love the Lord your God with all your heart soul mind and strength you

[00:45:42] put those things together and now you have a fully empowered Christian standing on the Word of God all the way

[00:45:48] back to their roots and the book of Genesis yeah I remember the first time I was exposed to the evidence for the

[00:45:54] truth of creation the flood and everything like that and I I just walked away going oh my goodness this just blew

[00:46:00] my mind away and for me it actually sparked in me the desire to tell my

[00:46:06] friends wait a second did you know this this is incredible this is all true there’s actually

[00:46:12] evidence for it I don’t have to just assert that it’s true I don’t have to just hope that it’s true I mean I can

[00:46:17] actually give you tangible physical evidence that this this book is a historical record it’s it’s not

[00:46:24] something like that you you just have to take on blind faith you know it’s amazing I mean when I went up to Canada

[00:46:31] and looked at the bone beds up there I was standing next to a guy later learned was a licensed geologist and when I

[00:46:38] watched my daughter have her epiphany moment she went off for five minutes about how dad there’s no way at this

[00:46:44] hadrosaur we’re seeing right in front of us and it’s thousand buddies over this multiple mile radius area dry died in

[00:46:52] some local flood it’s impossible they’re buried with 50 feet of mud what kind of thing could do that and

[00:46:58] this guy came up to me in the parking lot afterwards and said he converted right there just right there oh wow he

[00:47:06] listened to my daughter she really had her own personal wake-up call and this guy’s was just eavesdropping or a whole

[00:47:12] conversation came up to me thirty minutes and says you know what I just read thought all of my training and you

[00:47:19] guys have slipped me I’ve changed my mind what a testimony what a testimony it’s great because the truth will set

[00:47:26] you free and it really isn’t hard to gather I mean when you really honestly it’ll step back and look at it

[00:47:32] Noah’s Flood is all around us it’s one of the most obvious things scientifically to get your mind around

[00:47:39] yeah have you ever been to the Grand Canyon and done tours of the canyon like that I sure did I went up there with

[00:47:46] Russ Miller it was fantastic it was kind of shorter as a three-day trip but that’s a very

[00:47:51] complex area there’s a lot going on there but you can’t in fact see a lot of the the layering and creation rock and

[00:47:57] everything else but yeah that’s it’s a very complex area to try to get your mind around a lot going on out there
